Ooka Sushi Hibachi Lounge

Terrible customer service! Was told they take reservations and it was a lie. I ended up waiting over 40 minutes for a table with a «reservation» I can’t imagine how long I’d have to wait if I didn’t have a «reservation».

Great Monday through Saturday lunch specials! So much food for a great price. Service is quick and hibachi is always fun!

This place Rocks! Took my husband back there last night and it was awesome! Their presentation is amazing and the food is so fresh. We ubered because we wanted to try some of their drinks and relax. I had all Sashimi last night and was so delicious. My husband ordered Hibachi even though we sat in the dining room and it was delicious. The rice that is served with the hibachi is out of this world. Best rice I have ever eaten. It has sweet corn in it! I highly recommend this place! Service is good. We will be back!

This became my favorite Sushi I’ve had to date. Me and my seven year old son loved our visit here. The place looks awesome with all the colored LED lights and the food was awesome. I only have one complaint. The California Roll doesn’t come with tobiko like it does in some sushi places. If they added that to the rolls then man, that wold be fantastic. My son and I even wanted to be adventurous and try the eel roll. I was shocked we both like it. I will be back.

I’ve been here 5 or 6 times and generally have had very good experiences. Really nothing major to complain about. This review is for vegetable hibachi only.
The food: I always play it safe and have the vegetable hibachi here which is full of flavor for the most part. Once my friend had the salmon and it was fishy. Maybe it was just her piece?! I love their fried rice and noodles! They use different vegetables then the ones everyone gets which is a nice touch. It would be 4.5 stars is for the lack of consistency in flavors if anything. Sometimes there is a good amount of garlic which I love and other times there isn’t enough. Othertimes there is a ton of butter used, but not always which I prefer. The soup is always very good and hot. The salad is also good, standard, but I like their ginger dressing. Dessert is not included in the hibachi dinner.
The service: The chefs are great. Lively, funny, and the best I’ve seen in the area. I enjoy seeing people who go for the first time reacting to some of the things these chefs do! They always offer sake to the table. The waitresses are ok, average service.
Overall: I will continue to come here for hibachi. I love that they give you rice and noodles for those days I eat carbs! When I don’t they double the vegetables for me which is really nice. Not all places would do that! I recommend their vegetable hibachi!

Volcano Roll, Naruto Maki roll (no rice roll), and chicken teriyaki were all AMAZING!!! Only giving 4 stars since I haven’t tried their Hibachi yet.

We’ve been anticipating the opening of this place for some time now… waiting patiently as the renovations progressed. Finally we went in last Saturday night around 9 and found the place packed. The hostess was extremely inviting and polite and seated us almost immediately.
Our waitress was helpful in picking out beverages, as the drink menu is expansive and has numerous selections that all sound delicious. We settled on the ozeki nigori sake off the waitresses recommendation and it was phenomenal.
The spicy girl roll we had for an appetizer was a meal in itself and it was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be ordering this roll again. The spicy tuna was amazing and the thinly sliced jalapeño complimented it perfectly.
Chef Brian highlighted the night by preparing our meals perfectly. The filet mignon was seasoned and cooked to just the right temperature and the side dishes were tasteful and the portions tremendous. Additionally, he kept us thoroughly entertained throughout the meals entirety!
Having been to other establishments like Ooka, I can say that they don’t even remotely compare. Ooka is far superior in the quality of food, atmosphere, décor and service. Great job by all involved and keep up the good work!

Staff was not friendly. Food came out WAY too fast. We were barely done with soup and salad then tuna roll appetizers came out and within minutes our hibachi came out. Sushi was pretty good. Hibachi was wet. We were never asked how our meal was And the Waitress provided a check before asking if we wanted dessert or tea. Can you say RUDE ! We will never go back.

Probably the best sushi I have tasted in NJ. This is the second time I have been there and the result is the same. Fresh and tasty sushi! The Volcano roll, Spicy Lady Roll and the AK47 Roll were our groups favorites. As far as the hibachi is concern, the chef was great and entertaining. The food was good but not as great as the sushi. The place get packed in the weekends and you will wait a while to get seated especially for a big group but management will do «the right thing». They took care of us for sure! :)

Try the AK47! It’s soooo good! Nice restaurant to go to, just by chance I found this place. Close to the job too

Love the angry dragon roll!!! Highly recommend! The mango roll was also really good, but a little too sweet for me. Next time I may ask them to go lighter on the mango sauce. Love this place! Perfect for date night! And even after a few months, the quality of food here is still really delicious!!!

Came here for the first time last night and it was amazing! Had shrimp and chicken hibachi. Everything tastes delicious, and they did an awesome job with the presentation.
Definitely plan to go back!

My love surprised me tonight by taking me to dinner and I was completely blown away! The service was beyond stellar and the sushi was the best I have had EVER. This place is top notch and the entire evening thought I was in a restaurant in Manhattan, New York!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 4 Stars and well deserved!

We walked into the reception area prime time, about 7PM, which was mobbed with hungry people. I was thinking, «Oh no, another of the famous NJ Saturday night 1 ½ waits.» Hostess pleasantly came over and asked, «Are we there for hibachi or table service?» I answered, «Table service», and she whisked us away to a smartly done side room, where we sat at a comfortable private booth. The room was far enough from the hibachi atmosphere to converse at normal levels. We will be going back with a larger group to try the hibachi, as the people in that area were having a great time.
Waitress came and promptly took drink order, then brought out the lemon water. We ordered
chicken satays and gyoza for appetizer. Satay’s were perfectly cooked with a peanut dipping sauce and gyoza were fried right with a nice pork filling. The «Zombie’s» were brought over and had a nice flavor and kick. Next up were the gun themed sushi rolls, an AK-​47 for me and a M-​16 roll for her, both fired away with spicy flavor and fresh ingredients.
Entrees came, chicken pad thai and steak teriyaki, both well executed with good amounts of meat and the right levels of spice and sauce.
Service was top notch, the girls in the table service area worked seamlessly together, dishes were cleared, waters were kept filled and they all made sure to check everything was to our satisfaction. Our experience at Ooka from the food to the service was top notch.

Dinner here tonight with Missus and two friends at their recommendation.
I had the Sashimi Dinner. There were 18 pieces of delicious fish, not tiny thin slices, but three each of 6 types of fish in nice sized slices. Beautifully presented on a bowl of ice with jicama and edible leaves, pickled ginger and wasabi. The Dinner also came with Miso soup (very tasty) and a salad of iceberg lettuce with ginger dressing; tasty if not remarkable.
Missus had the Sashimi Dinner. Beautifully presented on a bamboo boat, the pieces were perfectly sized and the number was ample. Missus raved!
One of our friends had a selection of rolls. They looked well prepared and she explained over nearly every bite. Her husband didn’t have sushi or sashimi but had a dish of marinated and grilled salmon that looked delicious.
We shared appetizers of Shumai and Goyza and could not have enjoyed them more. They were tasty and the dipping sauces were tasty and not salty as they often are.
All in all this was a truly delicious meal.
The service was friendly and properly attentive without hovering. Really nicely done.
This is one of the finest sushi dinners I have had. Delicious and fresh, beautifully prepared and served.

Delicious food, fun hibachi. The show the chefs put on is as much fun as the food. Great value for the money. Delicious, tender Filet mignon with soup, salad, rice, noodles and veggies is only $ 25 and the portions are huge! Beautiful renovation from the previous restaurant and the service is attentive. When the tables are full the place is very lively (i.e. noisy) but that’s all part of the atmosphere. If I didn’t walk out stuffed to the gills I would come more often :-)

I took my son here to celebrate his 13^th birthday and the service we received was truly VIP. The food — was delicious from start to finish!

My first time trying out the place and I must say I will go back… Loved the ambiance and the full bar.

So we went there last night. As many have stated the prior establishment was definitely something to stay away from. But I was absolutely surprised at everything. Very clean, contemporary, and the food was fantastic. We had filet minion hibachi and a roll of sushi and we found it much more entertaining than any other hibachi place we’ve been to, and we’ve been to a lot. The food was much more than expected and we left full as could be. The service was fantastic. Drinks were refilled promptly and orders were taken quickly. Glad to finally have a nice sushi and hibachi place close to home, and not as expensive as others.
Will be back soon.

This place is simply amazing. The sushi rolls are awesome. This place definitely has it going on. I have been craving sushi for a while and this definitely hit the spot. If you are in the area this a definite must try place.
