Best sushi joint in New Jersey! Fresh and melts right in your mouth. The staff was unbelievable and friendly. The service was quick yet very inviting. First they gave us some free muscles which were amazing. Definitely the only place my husband and I will ever go out for sushi.

This is an excellent place. Delivery service is great as well which is rare for a Sushi place. The food is very good and the servers are efficient and cordial if dining in.

This place is great! The sushi is delicious, waiting time is good. You get free mussels as an appetizer. It’s BYOB so make sure you stop by a liquor store if you want.

This place has the FRESHEST sushi in the area. Every time my wife and I eat dinner here, we pick three special rolls and every single time we leave saying how awesome the place is. Staff is very attentive and do a great job waiting on all tables. You will not find fresher sushi elsewhere! Expect a slight wait around dinner time Thurs — Sat nights, I’ve never waited longer than 20 minutes.

I recommend the dumpling soup and absolutely anything on the sushi menu. If you come after 7:30PM be prepared to wait — this is a small restaurant that draws a crowd.

Lunch and dinner was wonderful! Even though it gets crowded, it’s worth the wait for good food.

Best sushi in a town with great sushi restaurants. Such a great experience. Came here with my friend and her kids. This is a small restaurant and not usually a great place for young kids, but the servers and and managers treated us like celebrities. They even turned the lights off and brought out a happy birthday dessert for my friend’s 4-year-old. The waiter recorded it and shared the moment with us on our iPhones. Now the food… beef negemaki was tender and tasty, the sweet potato sushi roll, salmon roll, crazy roll and lobster roll were all perfection. I’m so happy I live within a two-minute walk of here.

While I did not dine-in, I ordered food to pick up. The ease of ordering was friendly and quick.(I didn’t pick up the food myself so I can’t say anything about that part of the experience.) The food was phenomenally delicious and the prices were so reasonable! When i looked up the menu, I couldn’t believe how well priced everything was! I wanted to order everything! My boyfriend and I ordered the Pork Katsu set and it came with so much food, it was awesome(and did I mention delicious?) The pork was fried perfectly without being dry and the rice was nice and fluffy. It came with california roll, shumai, salad and a soup! Whaaattt? Crazy. I ordered two rolls, the volcano roll and Monica roll. Both tasted so fresh and the spicy sauce was a party in my mouth. I wanted to keep eating but there wasn’t room left in my stomach. My boyfriend and I decided this will definitely be our go-to place for sushi from now on. It was great.

Nizi Sushi is one of my good go-to local sushi spots, as it is a convenient 10 minute drive for me. This is a small establishment, so during peak hours be prepared for a wait and I would not recommend coming in here with a party larger than 4 people during that time. I would say this place is a nice hole in a wall spot with some delicious sushi! During dinner hours they give you a complementary plate of mussels after ordering. These were satisfying, especially with the fact that they are free! For appetizers, I like getting the Spicy Tuna Tartar, which is a lump of delicious spicy tuna with avocado and mango. When I am not in the mood for rolls, I would typically get the Chirashi, which is an assorted amount of sashimi with rice. I can be satisfied with this as the fish is prepared well and does not need a lot of the«flair» that is included in their special rolls. They do have a good selection of rolls to choose from and be sure to see if there are any specials. If I am feeling a fried roll, I will typically get the House Roll, which has an assortment of fish. I also tend to lean towards some of the spicy-based rolls, such as the Fantastic Roll and John’s Roll. In addition, if you are feeling spicy in your life, go get the Fire Roll, which has spicy yellowtail and the jalapenos that will give you that spicy kick that you are looking for. The staff has always been great to me here and I shall keep coming back! Also note that this place is BYOB!

Lets get this straight — is this 5 star sushi when compared to top places in NYC or the west coast? No. But this side of the river in N. NJ, you cannot go anywhere else better. This is a really solid place with good food and friendly service. They also give you a free bowl of steamed mussels at dinner which probably biases my review a little! That is probably a $ 8-$ 10 price on most menus. But hey, if it works for their business… Rolls and sushi are good but do not sleep on their 4 – 5 Korean specialties. They are really really good. Try to order rolls that have fewer«sauces» and you can appreciate the quality of the meal. This is a small place so lines can get long when busy. Plenty of parking in the lot right next to the restaurant.

We moved away from the town years ago, but recently been buying take out to bring home because I swing through via my commute, which changed recently. The food is still fresh and a great value. The byob is always a lovely feature when eating there. LUNCH time best value, but dinners are good too. Favorite foods: Spicy tuna tataki, Samauri roll, and all the Bento boxes and Kop dop when not up for sushi! You like meat and not fish… get the KALBI, portions for that NOT traditionally large. You’d have to go to a Korean restaurant for that. Good hard working crew, patronize them!

Came here for lunch with the family on a weekday which was perfect as it isn’t busy. It’s a small restaurant with just a few tables. The service was friendly. After ordering your meal, they served you their rice porridge and miso soup. Both are good and tasty. They have lunch specials of bento box from beef or pork bulgogi, to chicken Katsu to shrimp tempura, to sushi handmade rolls. All served with rice, salad, and California sushi rolls. I opt out of the bento box but my son loved the beef bulgogi. I had the beef kop dol or better know as beef bibimbap served in the sizzling hot stone pot. The beef seasoning is on point. However, I was a little disappointed that my rice wasn’t crispy at the bottom of the hot stone pot, which is really the whole joy of this dish. I think the rice was too moist which is why it couldn’t be sizzled crispy. I will still come back and try another dish.

My go to sushi spot in the area. A lot of great variety in the sushi and a great value overall. You will be pleased with your visit. The place is «cozy» so get there early as the wait can definitely build up. I have yet to be disappointed. It doesn’t blow my mind but it’s a solid sushi joint for when you’re in the mood.

I love me some sushi and this is easily one of the best sushi places in the area. Always fresh, great options, and nice sized portions, you just can’t go wrong here. Even the customer service is great with every single waiter being very friendly and willing to offer any help with the menu(extremely helpful when bringing kids). I’d probably say, the only real con to this location is that it gets a bit tight at times and is usually crowded. But then again, it being crowded just shows how good the place is!

Friendly and great service. Its a BYOB and there is a store across the street if you need a drink. To start us off, they served us free steamed mussels. Perfect to dip in the spicy sriracha and goes very well with beer. We enjoyed the sashimi and eel roll. Portions are large. Standard variety of fish, salmon, tuna, yellowtail. etc. No big deal on the fish, but the star of this restaurant are the servers.

Hubby brought me here for a lunch date. It’s a cute cozy spot in Rutherford. We were seated promptly, it’s a BYOB spot, but they do still offer you water and soda options. Our food came out super fast, we didn’t wait long at all. My husband wasn’t even finished with his soup when they brought out the sushi we ordered. I must admit the sushi was good, but not great. I think we just ordered the wrong sushi items. I ordered the samba role, and even though it looked appealing, it just had too much going on for me. My husbands rolls were better, but he ended up getting rolls that were too busy as well… Will definitely go back again, and try different rolls and hopefully have better luck.

This place is like the place to be for dinner. Every time I come here, it is super crowded and there’s a wait out the door. The other night, I ended up just ordering to go because the wait was going to be an hour. This little hole in the wall local Japanese restaurant is truly a gem. FOOD: Anything you get here is bound to be good. I especially love their chicken teriyaki bento box and their shrimp tempura’s. The tempura is always so crispy and they do it right with the panko rub unlike some other place. One of the best parts is if you dine in, they give you a complimentary bowl of mussels! I mean, who does that? That’s a big thing in of itself! Their rolls are fresh and delicious-I always get mine with extra spicy mayo. ATMOSPHERE: It’s a typical small Japanese themed restaurant. It’s a relatively small place-probably seats 6 at the bar, then 24 max more at the tables. That’s probably why there’s always a long wait during peak hours. SERVICE: Everyone is very nice and friendly here. You ask for something and they will give it to you. Very fast service too! Highly recommend this place. Please check them out!

I swear Nizi never disappoints me. I had a few friends come over and they wanted«sushi», so the first place I think of is this place because 1. they’re right around the corner and 2. it’s delicious and always fresh. The one thing about Nizi, it’s not a huge place, so it’s always tight if we dined in, so we ended up taking out. My friends actually lived in Cali for 3 years and if you’ve ever had their sushi out there, it definitely has to be fresh when eating it on the east coast and they definitely gave us their approval. We ordered so many rolls: Volcano Roll — my favorite Kamikaze Roll — if you love shrimp tempura — you’ll love this Lobster Roll — i’m not a big fan of the romaine lettuce but still good Philly Roll — could never go wrong with a philly roll — always yummy Spider Roll — not my choice, but the others loved it Johns Roll — my favorite Chirashi — my husband and his friend both ordered this and demolished it. It’s basically different sashimi’s and seasoned rice. Chicken Katsu — we ordered this for the kids — it’s basically chicken tenders with white rice — they love it. Miso soup came with this too which was yummmy! So overall, I will always choose Nizi over any other sushi place in Rutherford. If you feen for sushi, this will definitely satisfy your«fix». Sorry I don’t have pictures — i was so hungry — my cell phone wasn’t by my side.

Great Sushi! Will definitely come back for some more but I will definitely suggest coming here bundle up since its the winter and this is a small restaurant Everytime the door would open its like you’re outside practically. And we sat in the last table no were near the door. The servers were all nice and friendly. Definitely helped us when we had questions about the different rolls. Parking wasn’t a problem, they have a small parking lot on the side and there’s a lot of meter parking. The sushi rolls are BIG especially for their prices its a great deal. Would definitely be coming back soon

My my is this place busy on the weekend. l lucked out arriving at 6:00 pm Saturday night and was promptly sat. I have to say though, everyone else that arrived after us were on the waiting list for a table. I understand they were very busy but service was pretty bad. They didn’t acknowledge to take our order for over 15 minutes after being sat. I’m big on service so that made me feel a certain way already about the restaurant, but I stuck it out since I read a lot of great reviews. I have to say, food is very affordable and filling! We got the complementary mussels which were over cooked and undesirable. Sooo, I ordered the spicy girl roll which consisted of shrimp tempura, cucumber, kani, spicy sauce and crunch. I asked for it to be Extra spicy but it wasn’t, I had to use siracha sauce to enjoy to my liking. It was an OK roll nothing I would crave, matter fact, my first 2 rolls had no shrimp in them which was a disappointment, I thought they forgot to put it until I saw the shrimp towards the end of the roll. The bento box was good overall but again not amazing. For dessert, I ordered the mochi greet tea that came out frozen solid. As the waiter was placing it on the table, he advised that its still frozen from last night shipment, as soon as he said that I said no thank you. One, if its not freshly made I can easily go to the store myself and get it. Two, it was frozen solid, sorry but I like my teeth, don’t want to lose them over this. haha anyways its an ok place but I wouldn’t run here.
