We provide installation & service for all makes and models of furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps, thermostats, boilers, humidifiers, electronic air cleaners, media air cleaners, air purifiers, automatic standby generators; plus many other HVAC products.

History

Established in 1999.

Great Dane was started in 1999 with the promise to improve the perception of the heating and cooling industry. Homeowners always hear about horror stories from friends and family about bad experiences and customer service with substandard contractors.

Great Dane was started with the idea that customers should «Experience the Service you Deserve!» In order to achieve this Great Dane leads the industry by continuous technical training and customer service training. As a result Great Dane has earned the title of North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Quality Circle Contractor, and 4 time recipient of the Angieslist Super Service Award including 2015.

These accolades have solidified Great Dane’s reputation for honest, quality service, that the customer deserves.

Great Dane is Macomb County’s Largest Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer and 6 time recipient of the Carrier President’s Award.

GD installed a furnace, air-​conditioner, water heater, re-​installed my humidifier, and put in a new programmable thermostat all in one long day.
I was very impressed with Steve who on the initial visit explained in detail with illustrations, a video and pictures what the job would entail. The written proposal was clear and comprehensive.
Two days later Ron, Cross and Brandon arrived early and worked until evening. They worked very well together, were polite, patient with my questions and cleaned up there work area.
I definitely will recommend them to family and friends.

Great Dane had me right off the bat when I called early afternoon and they were able to schedule a tech to come out same day and work around my schedule. Chris was courteous and knowledgeable and the repair was done quickly. I’m thankful for that because it was a 90 degree day and our AC stopped blowing cool air.

Fantastic company. The owner is Josh (not Greg as some reviewers erroneously wrote). He is very conscientious and delivers great service to his customers. I have used Great Dane at my business to install humidifiers. I also recommended them to my in-​laws when the heat when out last year. Both times we were very happy with the service experience. I will continue to have high regard for Josh and the entire Great Dane team.

This company is a complete joke! They charged me $ 90 to come out and give an estimate for leveling out my air conditioner unit, which they then told me would be close to $ 800 to do! I’ve never heard of a company charging almost $ 100 to give an estimate! When I called to voice my concern about how much I was charged they told me they understood and would issue me a refund three different times. After chasing them down for over a month to get my refund I was then told by the owner Greg that I will not get my refund and they do not care about my concerns and do not care that I go to a different company. I am completely beside myself I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life. The owner even hung up on me. I do not recommend this company to anyone. The gentleman that came out to give the estimate was extremely polite, just doing his job. I feel bad having to leave such a negative review about such an awful experience. I hope nobody else has to go through this.

In the past I used Great Dane and had no issues but my last experience ruined it. Had a tech come out for a CO check on the furnace and my appointment was scheduled for 4:30. I was surprised to get a phone call at 3:30 telling me my tech was on his way. I had to leave work early and rush home. Once i got home I showed him where the furnace was and let him go to work. About 10 min into it he told me my heat exchanger had several cracks in it. He tried to show the photos he took except every time he tried his camera died due to a dead battery. So i asked him if it wont stay on now how did he take the photos or inspect my furnace. He assured me that it wasnt the battery and something had happened to his camera. I wasnt buying it so I explained to him that his company was out 4 months ago for a different issue and the tech took a look at the exchanger and was amazed how spotless it was and it must of been replaced in past. He mentioned how there was no rust on it and he saw no cracks. Once i told the new tech that he immediately became defensive demanding to know his name. I then explained that i just bought the house 8 months ago and had it checked and my home inspector said the samething as the first tech. After explaining that he again defended himself and tried to sell me a 800.00 heat exchanger. I called a family friend the next day and he took out the exchanger and it was spotless. He also ran the furnace to verify CO emissions and they were safe and normal. They were .005ppm to be exact. The tech didnt do a CO reading nor did he even turn the furnace on!
I know we all make mistakes but what i dont get is how can you not VERIFY your work. Without turning on the furnace you cant get a CO reading nor can you check for flame rollout. I suggest to everyone that you never use this company. I know i wont.

I just needed to have a repair on my hot water heater and wasn’t sure if I needed to have my water heater replaced. The good folks at Great Dane saved my tank and my wallet with a simple repair on the igniter. $ 140 vs $ 895. Yea that a good deal.

Horrible service!
They will sweet talk and UPSELL you on anything and everything in the name of SAFETY (scare the consumer tactics). They only replace parts — no concept of REPAIR. Will never USE their SERVICE again. Waste of time, get someone else to get the job done right and the first time.

Please do not take this warning lightly: STAY AWAY!
My story, briefly:
Called Great Dane to set appointment re: moving commercial HVAC and doing some duct work and repair. I made special arrangements to be on site. NO SHOW. Called the next morning and was told I got the appointment wrong — it was for today. Okay, not likely, but plausible.
Sent my assistant to meet Great Dane between 1 and 2pm — requested they call and give a 10 minute warning so we can be sure not to miss the tech. No tech arrived, but a salesman did — at 3:30– No call.
Tech arrived the next day with salesman, things go well and they sell me on a system. Promise a quote in 1 – 2 days. Have not heard from them since. Emails and phone calls go unanswered.
I had to call a new HVAC company out and they complety disagree with Great Danes assessment. There was a $ 230 part/​service charge and the unit runs good as new. Great Dane attempted to sell me a brand new unit to replace my unrepairable one.
