Specialties
Best Downtown Coeur d’Alene Restaurant and Wine Bar! Northwest cuisine complimented by a 2013 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence wine list and craft cocktails. The Cellar features the ONLY self-serve wine system in the Inland Northwest and live music 5 nights a week.
History
Established in 1992.
The Cellar (FKA The Wine Cellar) has been a downtown Coeurd’Alene landmark for over 20 years. Focused on providing customers with not just a great place to eat, but a venue to listen to live music and enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail. The Cellar is still locally owned by Tom and Patricia Power, who belonged to the wine club at the Cellar for over 12 years and were longtime regulars before buying the restaurant.
Previously located at 313 E. Sherman, the Cellar was full of warm charm and eclectic character. However, there were many building challenges including a tiny kitchen operating on electric burners! The opportunity to purchase the building right next door to the Cellar came up, and the Powers jumped at the opportunity to expand the Cellar and build on everything that made it a success. Now the Cellar has street side exposure and 2 full bars. There is still live music nightly downstairs in the cellar along with a state of the art wine cellar and self-serve wine machines.
Meet the Manager
Naomi B.
Manager
I started at The Cellar in 2006 while I was finishing by Business Administration degree. I thought The Cellar was going to be a short-term job to make some quick cash, but turned into a passionate career. I began giving suggestions to management based on what I was learning in school, and each year my responsibilities expanded. I started doing the daily bookkeeping and marketing in addition to serving. Before I knew it, I was asked to run the wine program based on my palate and ability to describe wine.
I did not expect to stay in the restaurant industry after earning my degree, but there is something about this place that gets into your blood. The Cellar is so special AND it allows me to share my love affair with wine with our customers. The energy of the restaurant is contagious — the dynamic staff and amazing customers who have become family — sharing great food and wine — throw in the live music. Why would you not want to spend your night out here?
