Got the rib combo with wings and sausage. Ribs were not tender, wings were good and the sausage was dry and possibly over cooked. Collards were way too salty. When I pulled up to the place it felt closed, as if there was nobody running the place. Get some roundup for the weeds and an open sign that lights up. People running the joint were really nice.

Amazing! I love BBQ and have been to a lot of BBQ places in Columbus but this one takes the cake. So good!!! I highly recommend the Mac & cheese(I could eat a huge tub of it). I also got the rib dinner which was delicious but am getting the turkey next time after trying a sample of it while we were waiting for our meals. The sauce on the ribs/turkey is to die for. The spices they use in it taste kind of like cinnamon but not overbearing and have the consistency of honey. The people who work there are so nice and polite and will talk to you if your the only one waiting. I am definitely going back.

Mallory’s is in heavy competition with Ray Ray’s for our BBQ dollars. Always good, always friendly. Today we made an early-afternoon breakfast run(so was it BBQ brunch?) Sweetie had the rib tip dinner, and loved it again. I finally had the beef ribs. You don’t see them around much, and I love them. They’re bigger than pork ribs, and of course taste beefy, kinda like pot roast. These were excellent– huge, meaty. Fall off the bone, in the sense that it was such a big hunk of meat that you could not lift it all up without it sliding off. The sauce was perfect for it– not much heat, lots of sweet and tangy flavor. We also shared greens and banana pudding. Now I feel like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner, and I still need to get some stuff done today, darn it.

Walk-up window or drive-thru service is what’s offered at Mallory’s Rib Shack. It was a little chilly, but I wanted to walk up so I could take my time and get more in touch with the restaurant. «Welcome to the Shack» is how Mallory greeted me with a warm smile for lunch today. She highly recommended the ribs, but I wanted a taste of everything, so I went with«Mallory’s Combo». It consists of 3 rib tips, 2 wings, a sausage link, cornbread, and 1 side for $ 11.50. For my side I had the collard greens, and I also ordered a side of baked beans pushing my total to $ 13.50. While I waited, Mallory went back and put together a free sampler of their sides. Outside of what I ordered it included potato salad and coleslaw. The slaw was finely cut with less mayo than some places and a little more vinegar; overall a solid version. My first bite of potato salad contained a nice chunk of hard-boiled egg. It was creamy with a bit of mustard, and good enough to have me rethinking my order. Food came out surprisingly fast. «Come back to the Shack!» were the parting words from Mallory. Based on the weight of the bag I quickly realized I would have leftovers. I started with the greens which were tender and had just the right amount of tartness. I enjoyed the side very much. The flapper wings were fantastic. They are very lightly breaded, simply seasoned, and juicy. It reminded me of homemade pan fried chicken. The biggest shocker had to be the sausage. Based on the short menu description I was expecting just a small cut of smoked sausage. What I got was a sausage on bun with peppers and onions. I was initially very disappointed when I saw that it was casing free with dry looking ends, but to my surprise it was very juicy and flavorful with red pepper flakes mixed in. An awesome and filling main dish on it’s own. The baked beans were very unique in that they had a hint of flavor similar to pumpkin pie spices. The rib tips were nice and meaty with just the right amount of BBQ sauce for me. The sauce had lighter hints of the unique flavors found in the baked beans… I’m writing way too much and haven’t even mentioned the well executed cornbread. A purist would probably kill me for saying this, but I don’t like to stick with the same style of BBQ. I crave different versions at different times, and I think Mallory’s will be on that list for sure. Overall, «The Shack» is a winner in my book.

I finally got to meet the BBQ king, Mark K, for lunch! I won’t re-hash his review; it’s great, so you can read all about it here: I’ll keep mine short and sweet since his is totally spot-on, and I actually agree with him on every point. I think the biggest lesson learned was this place is *not* dine-in. You can sit outside at the tables if it’s warm enough, or you can get it to go. Or you can sit in your car like we did. Crazy Polar Vortex. When we first arrived, we were greeted so warmly by the owners… they were so lovely. We were immediately offered samples, and everything was delicious. Here’s what I ordered: *Ribs — drenched in sauce(which I could have had on the side instead), but the sauce was really good. I do like my ribs falling off the bone, and I had to chew a bit on these — but they were still delicious! *Baked beans — good, with an interesting spice I can’t quite nail down *Potato salad — also good, nothing extraordinary though I can’t wait to go back when it’s a little warmer and sit outside and eat some delicious barbeque!

Got the four rib dinner and it was delicious! Ribs were very tender and had just the right amount of smoke. The bbq sauce is too die for! It should be bottled! I had greens and cole slaw as my sides. The greens were some of the most tender greens I have ever had though they were a little too salty for my taste. Will definitely be back!
