Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa

It was my first time at the Hand and Stone in Commack. The staff was friendly and efficient. The lounge was clean and smelled pepperminty. Your first facial or massage is an introductory offer and then after your service at the front desk they will ask you to join as a member. I joined. I enjoyed my facial and even with upgrading and a tip my hour facial was under $ 100 and you can add your tip on your credit card!!! The spa has a coupon on Unilocal for a free service mine was a hot towel wrap for your feet (marvelous). Now it’s aromatherapy. You can unlock the coupon when you check in. So back to my facial. I haven’t had one in years. My face feels so soft. That roughness to my skin is gone. They gave me infused water afterwards it was very refreshing. I also was provided samples of the products they used. Just wish they had a hook for my clothes and a chair. it’s winter. I had my coat, scarf and everything on one little chair. Well when I go next time I will see if that’s the same in all rooms.

My facial appointment was at 6pm. I got there at 5 minutes to. I got in the room and was undressed, and in bed by 6:03pm. The clock said 6:07pm and I had to look for Victoria. She came in quickly after that and it took all of me to mention to her what time it was and explain that I thought we should be starting sooner. She said it’s actually a 50min facial, I said I thought it was 55min but she said she’ll go the full hour with me. I thanked her and my relaxation began. Given that exchange I didn’t feel that she was perturbed. She didn’t rush at all or take any extra time prepping. I’ve gone to her three times now and I really enjoy her approach as well as her neck and shoulders massage during the facial. Every session, she’s talked about the condition of my skin and is genuine about her findings under the magnifying glass. I learn so much about my skin and how I need to be more gentle and keep my hands away from my face. As well as staying hydrated and away from oily foods. I had some clogged pores on my cheek and forehead as well as a whitehead on my lip that she removed. She stuck true to her word and I got the hour. I believe she tried to sell me on a few products, I was genuinely interested in purchasing but I wanted to tip her extra well. Instead of $ 15 I gave her $ 35 for accommodating me and thinking of the holidays as well. After the session, I inspected my face and it was red and sore where she removed some gunk. I told myself not to worry and trust her. I checked my face and lip today and it is clear. My skin feels clean and rejuvenated, I don’t even want to touch it. :-)

I am a full time worker and college student so I usually never have time for things like this. I always saw hand and stone massage and was curious so I scheduled an appointment for me and my girlfriend and was I pleasantly surprised. We ordered a basics hour massage and added aroma oil to hers. An hour later we felt as though we had melted because we felt so amazing and relaxed. The staff was very friendly and courteous and made us feel welcome while we waited to be helped. I cannot wait to return again at the end of my semester. Thank you for everything

I love this place. Adam is amazing at what he does. I have scoliosis and was really nervous at first never having had a massage before. I literally felt like a new person afterwards. Will definitely be returning.

Update on my experience. Much better and what I would have expected. They asked me to come back, armed with the knowledge of what I was looking for. I had another male therapist, Raine, and he definitely knew what he was doing. Did a great job, very thorough massage, and focused on the areas that I had asked him to help with. Once they understood what I wanted in my session they were able to get me the right match in a therapist.
Nice job, well worth the 90 minutes together with the Hot Stones which also helped make the session perfect.

I have never been disappointed with my visit to this location. From the moment you enter the staff makes you feel welcome and comfortable. My therapist, May, is amazing and provides a great, professional service.

Ugh I was so overdue for a facial it was bad… or at least I thought it was bad. I thought of getting a facial entirely too late in the day so it’s my fault that I picked this place. I checked it out on Unilocal,they were close by and could take me — yay awesome!
It is located in a strip mall with lots of parking. The reception area & front desk staff are really friendly!
My aesthetician was Victoria — she was nice & knowledgable. She got rid of some stuff on my nose that has been bothering me for the last week or two so I was definitely pleased about that. I paid the $ 15 upgrade for the scalp massage (!!) and it was NOT WORTH IT, pass on that.
I had a nice facial but it wasn’t life changing or anything to write home about.

Terrible business ethic ! My husband bought me $ 100 gift card for my birthday but he was misinformed when it was purchased. He thought I could use the introductory $ 59 first time massage and the have $ 40 left to do whatever else I would like. Well when I went to use it they had charged him the regular $ 99 for a massage. I said but I have never been here before so my massage should only be $ 59 they said sorry he purchased a $ 99 massage. My husband thought he was being nice getting me the gift card but instead we paid $ 40 extra for a not so great massage. I think that’s just bad business. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Th shouldn’t rip off their customers like that. I should have had a $ 40 credit left on my gift card. Terrible terrible place.

This place is not that great. The facility, rooms and tables are good. They even have warmers (the tables). I was a member, but whenever I wanted to make an appointment (usually Saturday & Sunday evening), they’re always booked. Then, they always ask if I want to make an appointment for another day. I do not have the luxury of scheduling massages in advance. I’m busy, and when I want a massage, I want it. The massages are only okay. Right down the block, on the other side of Jericho, there is a licensed Asian massage place. The facilities are not nearly as nice as Hand & Stone. The tables are not that great, and you do not get a private room. However, it’s much less expensive, and every massage great! My advise to the owner of Hand & Stone Commack, EXTEND YOUR HOURS. People don’t want to get massages when Hand & Stone has a slot open; they want to get a massage when they have the time available.

I had back-​to-​back work trips with 12+ hour work days, frantic event changes, a gorgeous run in Central Park, and a mind-​numbing stay at a Disney property during Spring Break. (I don’t «hate» kids, but when they’re sticky and hopped up on Mickey-​shaped cookies, we’re gonna have some differences).
In the midst of all this, my face exploded. I never had crazy acne as a kid so I guess my body decided to make up for lost time. Today.
Awesome.
I started with a massage with Jarred (Jarret?!?) to work out my sore running legs. Not going to lie that I got nervous when he greeted me because I’m a big gal and he’s…not. Luckily, looks were deceiving and it turned out to be one of the best massages I’ve ever had. It felt like there were moments when he alternated between hot and cold stones, which I’ve never experienced before. I have a super awkward running stride and he spotted quickly which areas needed more attention. When I said «That both hurts and tickles», he said «Try to concentrate in the tickling part.» Then I went into a giggle fit and he said «Try not to concentrate THAT much.» (I realize this sounds snarky in print, but it was actually very funny. I appreciate a masseuse with jokes).
Next was my facial with Christina. We talked a bit about my pizza face and determined the microdermabrasion was the best option. I told her I didn’t want to come out looking like Samantha in «Sex & The City», but she assured me that a chemical peel and microdermabrasion were completely different. For microdermabrasion, there is a tube that both deposits then sucks «stuff «from your face to help remove dead skin cells. It feels like it sounds, so there’s no pain. The pain, as always, is the damn extractions. But Christina let me know that she could stop
whenever I needed her to and she didn’t try to upsell me a bunch of crap when I left. For those who do microdermabrasion, be warned: she told me not to go in the sun for 24 hours. Unless you’re REAL curious what happens to vampires in the daylight, listen to your aesthetician.

Each month I look forward to my spa appointment at Hand & Stone Spa in Commack, usually get a different type of facial each time, collagen, rejuvenating, microdermabrasion, and a hot stone massage with the hot towel foot treatment.
Absolutely heaven! Melissa, Nicole, and the rest of the staff are very professional and their touch is magic! About ready to call and book my September appointment! I wish I could go there every week instead of once a month, become a member and take advantage of the special deals and invite guests to join you at the member rate. Also give my family gift certificates for Hand & Stone services, they love my gifts!

I had a massage at the Commack, NY location and I have to say it is the WORST massage experience I have ever had. I received a massage gift certificate to this chain for my birthday, and selected the Commack location as it was close to my home at that time. It was for an 80 minute relaxation massage. I don’t get massages super frequently, as it isn’t financially viable for me, but I do try and go at least every other month. I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Hand and Stone in Commack. I have gotten massages many places, frequently at a particular local spa, and have had nothing but good experiences in the past. The massage therapist to whom I was assigned was not friendly or welcoming, seeming sullen and irritated from the moment I saw her walking around by the reception area and when I was taken in for my appointment. I will say, this didn’t seem true for any of the other therapists I encountered, who all seemed friendly enough. My therapist was also rather elderyly, which concerned me as it is a very physical job requiring alot of strength and stamina. I was shown to the room and told to undress and get on the table, fairly standard practice. The room was clean, but I was rather grossed out to see a large MacDonalds take out cup filled with some beverage sitting out on the counter. The rooms are very «no frills» and have little in the way of decoration or luxurious/​relaxing touches. After I was on the table and the massage started, I was surprised at how uncoordinated the massage therapist seemed. She «washed» her hands by simply running them under the water in the sink and then proceeded to give me the worst massage I have ever had. The massage was painful at times, she was digging her elbows into my skin and the massage seemed to have no rhyme or reason, she didn’t seem to have a good routine worked out and would spend inordinate amounts of time in one area while neglecting others. What really troubled me was when she repeatedly stopped, mid massage (at least 4 times that I counted), to drink out of that MacDonalds to-​go cup. I don’t mean stopping to drink at some logical stop point, such as when moving from one area of the body to another or when I turned over from my front to my back, but literally one second I was being massaged and then it would abruptly stop and I would hear the ice rattling in the cup and her slurping loudly through the straw. I have NEVER in my life had a massage therapist stop in the middle of a massage to take a drink, let alone from some dirty looking fast food cup. When it came time to turn over, I am used to massage therapists holding up the sheet covering you to make it easy to turn over and politely requesting that you turn over while they look away. This lady told me to scoot down, removed the headpiece where my face was resting and then just stood there. When I did nothing because I was confused by her inaction, she rolled her eyes, sighed loudly and said in a cutting tone «What is wrong with you? Turn over!» I was taken aback but did my best to turn over while in the process the blanket got twisted up around me, which agitated her further. After my mediocre massage was over the therapist had the gall to sit down and give me a lecture about how my muscles were too tight and how I am going to make myself sick this way and how she should have refused to work on me because it «wasn’t fair to her» that I came in that condition and how I am not taking care of myself. This obnoxious lecture went on for a good ten minutes or more of my massage time, which really aggravated me. I am not made of money; I am not able to get regular massages and was just trying to enjoy what should have been a relaxing gift. If my back was that tight, then I apologize, but she certainly shouldn’t be lecturing me on how it was unfair to her that I came in that way. Her horrible technique and painful massaging certainly only made me more tense, which I’m sure didn’t help things. She could have politely suggested a need for more massages to aid with my back pain instead of saying how wrong it was to make her work on me. When I was finally dismissed to get dressed, I walked up front and instead of politely handing me my thimble of water as the other therapists seemed to do, she slammed it down on the counter grunting something about drinking water, and proceeded to help herself to a large serving of candy rocks that were out on the counter for the customers before retiring back into the treatment area. I personally don’t care that she would «refuse to work on me again if I don’t take care of my back,» I would never get another massage from her or anyone at Hand and Stone if that is the way that they treat people. This is the first time I have EVER not tipped my therapist. I don’t know what process is used when hiring massage therapists at these chains, but I can’t help but feel that perhaps a better one is neede

I originally received a gift card for christmas in 2010 to Hand & Stone; from my first encounter I was impressed. The place was immaculate, the staff was friendly, the massage therapist heard my concerns and helped me feel comfortable and did not overly use pressure — it was perfect! Then I was delighted to hear that I could do a monthly membership — I signed up and have been faithfully enjoying monthly massages, and/​or facials, microderm abrasion, foot treatments & even attended one of their spa nights! Great experience — I truly enjoy their services.

I was always deterred from this place being that it is a franchise but decided to give it a shot. I did a facial and microdermabrasion with Joellen for the introductory price of $ 85. I was highly please. Joellen is a doll and very knowledgeable and down to earth. The service was beyond relaxing and my face looks great! The place is immaculate and clean. I wound up signing up for the membership and I hope I put it to good use.

Have been coming for a few months. Everyone is always pleasant. The services are very good. Had a great facial with Nicole. Will definitely be back.

I have been here a few times for facials and each time I have not been disappointed. I did the foot add-​on after hosting Thanksgivng and it was well worth it. The only complaint I have is even though you can «bank» your membership facial if not used any particular month, you can’t let a guest of yours use it, it has to be used by you.

Great place to get a facial, taught me new facts about how to maintain clear skin, and extremely pleasant staff.

Massage.
So, I needed a massage in a bad way and figured what the hell, get a men’s facial too — so after looking on-​line at various places, I decided to give this place a shot.
All I can say is wow– my massage put me to sleep– it was so relaxing. I have a twitchy hamstring from a prior incident and forgot to mention it — until I nearly flew out of the bed, but as soon as I explained the injury, my masseuse was able to work around it and all was great.
After being knocked unconscious, I recovered and went to the next room for a facial. They were totally professional and I completely enjoyed the whole thing — I didn’t want to leave!
Awesome experience and highly recommended.
