History
Established in 2003.
Owner «Tex» Blackwell is the son of legendary engine builder Michael G Blackwell, Sr. Tex got his start racing go-karts at 3 years old, and began working on cars at the age of 13. At 17 years old, he built and drag-raced a 1200 Horse-Power Honda Civic to become the youngest sport compact drag racing world champion in history. He has applied years of knowledge and experience to build a one-stop performance shop that rivals even the «big dogs» in capabilities. He is widely acknowledged as one of the top AEM tuners on the East Coast. Tex put his own racing career on hold to grow the business and support other racers in their growth and development. B.R.E. Motorsports customers and partners include Safety-Kleen, Pat Rogers Harley-Davidson, Garret Turbo, AEM, Formula Drift Drivers Conrad Grunewald and Chris Ward. B.R.E. is also home to the largest independent drift team in the USA.

Business Owner
Michael «Tex» Blackwell has been in and around racing since he was born. His father Michael G Blackwell Sr. raced stock cars in the early 70’s and began building his own «Blackwell Racing Engines» in 1985. Tex started kart racing at 3 years old, had his first wreck at 3 and a half years old, and turned the kart over and got back on the track. He began working on cars himself at 13 out of a storage building in Concord NC. He worked around the clock, while maintaining straight A’s in school, just to buy parts and tools. At 17, he built a 1200 Horsepower Honda dragster, funded by profits from working on cars, and went on to win the NOPI Sport Compact World Championship against the biggest names in the sport. Since then he has grown B.R.E. Motorsports to a 27,000 square foot facility which supports and races with over 17 drivers in 4 different professional race series, mainly drifting and drag racing, and offers full performance capabilities and services to the general public year round
