Left Coast Diesel

Came in with a minor issue with all 6 cylinder humming fine, they returned the truck to me with only 5 running. They performed sub par work and I question the competency and ethical standing of the shop, do not bring your truck here if you don’t want your truck damaged.

I brought my ’05 GMC 2500 HD to Robert for repairs and was told I needed a new engine due to a blown head gasket. It was not the news I was hoping to hear but it is what it is as they say. Robert gave me some options and I decided to get my own engine from GMC for the best warranty, cost me a bit more money but I plan on keeping the truck so I bit the bullet and went with it. They installed my engine and I’m back on the road, had some additional repairs done while there that I had some problems with & Robert said «get it back in here and lets get it fixed as soon as you can.» I did and now its been approximately one year since the repairs and all is good. I recommend this company not only on initial repairs but any warrany work I needed they were all over it. Never made me feel like I was a problem to them. Great job to Rob and the mechanic Brett for all your help and knowledge.

My 2006 F250 6.0 liter recently had issues with starting. After a week of hard starts, it finally stopped starting once the engine would warm up due to oil pressure. I towed it to Pittsburg Ford where they diagnosed it for $ 300! They gave me bad news of stating the oil pump needs replacing and 4 of the fuel injectors (since the engine was already opened, recommended doing all 8) weren’t doing what there suppose to. I got a quote of $ 6000 from them and was astonished! I needed a second opinion called a few shops cuz I couldn’t afford such a high repair bill especially for a truck with 180K miles. A buddy told me about Left Coast and said he had similar work done on his truck. I called them explained everything and was told to bring it in the next day. Once they checked everything out. They found an oil leak, replaced some gaskets. Oil pump was fine but since its a high mileage truck, said I should replace it (in which I did). All the fuel injectors were tested and didn’t need replacing. They also found an EGR code, and had to flush out and clean the EGR. So after all repairs were said and done. I was charged about $ 3000 and had the truck back within 24 hours. Ford dealer had a 6 – 8 day repair time. This review is about a month late so I’ve driven the truck hard the past few weeks and it runs flawless! I want to thank the guys at Left Coast for getting my truck back to me in a timely manner and getting me back on the road working! I would recommend these guys to anyone who owns a diesel truck!

AWFUL. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. My boyfriend’s truck was stolen out of the lot on Left Coast’s watch.
They said his truck would be done same day or next day for minor servicing. It was sitting there over a week, unserviced, when it got stolen. AND Left Coast didn’t even tell us! We first found out when we got a call from the Pittsburgh Police Station two days AFTER the truck was stolen.
Left Coast denied fault for the theft.
BUT…it gets better…
Once we got the truck out of the tow yard, took left coast over a month to work with insurance and fix the truck. And we STILL had to pay over $ 400 out of pocket. Lucky for them that legal advice was more expensive than $ 400 but unlucky for them we know a lot of people with diesel trucks and they won’t be going there anymore.
The problem isn’t with the mechanics. The mechanics are excellent. The management is the problem-they’re so bad it’s worth going somewhere else.
There’s a really good place out in concord, called Contra Costa Diesel, owned by a man named Blake. He will take care of all your diesel needs while maintaining good business and customer service practices.

A while ago I bought an aftermarket accessory for my diesel truck. Robert was very helpful in explaining all about how it works. Come to find out the product didn’t work out but it was a Ford computer issue. Took it back and they exchanged it with one that worked no problem. A month later I had a major issue with my truck and had it towed to the dealership. Well after a complete debacle and hundreds of dollars later I decided to take it to left coast diesel remembering that in my conversation with Robert he made the comment that the reason he feels his shop is better than the rest is because they only specialize in diesel trucks with mechanics who are specialized in diesel motor repair. Robert ended up charging me $ 300 less than Hilltop Ford and had it back to me in a day and a half. While I was there I made a comment about how cool some of the trucks were that he had pics of on the wall. He then invited me to come to the shop after hours and watch some of those trucks perform Dino testing. Would have been pretty cool to watch 800‑1000 HP trucks mess around. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it but is shows the type of customer service you get at Left Coast Diesel. I highly recommend taking any Diesel motor vehicle you have there. Also if you call them and have to leave a message it’s probably because they are talking to a customer. They give the costumer they are talking to all their attention. Leave a message and they will get right back to you. I was kinda putt off by having to leave a message a couple of times but after being there in person and getting treated like I was the most important customer they had, I can see why my call went to the answering machine. Thank you Left Coast Diesel. I’ll be back for any other repairs or upgrades I need for my 2008 Ford F-​350 Diesel.

I was talking to a guy about diesel service for my Ford F250. He told me about Left Coast Diesel and I had heard the name from another people who strongly recommended them. So my truck started giving me trouble just before I had to go down to Camp Roberts. The guys at the Concord site were awesome. I could not have had a better experience. They looked at my truck right away test drove then put it up on the lift, all this while I waited. The gentlemen in the office kept me in conversation the whole time while they did their work and the technician kept me informed throughout the whole ordeal. when it came time to pay I was told no charge. Theses guys are great! Not because they didn’t charge me for services rendered but because the atmosphere was so pleasant and professional from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. I felt I was their priority. Will defiantly be coming back for any future needs.

Don’t waste your time… I had over $ 7000 worth of work done and had to bring my truck back several times for them to finish the job right… Then I recently brought it back for a diagnoses because it wasn’t running right and for an oil change and fuel filter change. They not only told me nothing was wrong but the total came to $ 450… For a diagnosis of nothing and an oil and filter change… On top of that the sales guy has no clue what he’s talking about and he won’t give you a total till you go pick up your vehicle. Oh did I mention I left it there all day and stopped by at 3 pm because I hadn’t received a call, and the tech assigned to my car was working on his own personal car while mine still sat outside untouched… Totally unprofessional…

Is this Carmagetten or what? I could write a novel about this place but will keep it short as I can. Second oldest son 20 takes his Ford F250−2002 Turbo Diesel which incidentally he bought with his own money to this place to have a leaking water pump replaced. Gets a quote, drops the truck off on a Monday and it was supposed to be done by Tues or Weds at the latest per the quote. On Friday he calls as to the status of his truck as he does not have it back and they have not called. Oh we have been busy have not gotten to it maybe next week by Tues or Weds. On Monday we get a call from LCD that his truck has been stolen from LCD. We ask for their insurance info and they refuse to give it to us citing it’s our problem or his problem as the truck was stored on their property but not in their shop. Called our insurance company and they had a totally different point of view. Truck turns up a day later in Pittsburg trashed, locks broken out, steering column shredded, tool box torn apart etc. Left Coast Diesel say’s they can fix it all so he/​we at this point have the truck towed back to them. Insurance adjustor comes out gives them a quote and one week estimate to make the repairs which they accept. One month later they have not even begun work on the truck. I go up there; my son and wife go up there and just get the run around. Finally the insurance adjuster goes back to Left Cost and they do about 90% of the work, collect all the insurance money and tell us they can’t finish the rest of the work it’s out of their scope. So we have the truck towed to Ford in Walnut Creek and pay another $ 900 bucks out of pocket to have the work completed. Definitely well worth avoiding this place.

Besides the weird unfriendly looks I got when I entered the office, like I was a solicitor and not a customer, the job they did on my ’01 Dodge was good and bad. The Air Dog fuel system and exhaust manifold they installed came out nice. The Edge Juice programmer was a different story, they couldn’t get it to shut off with the ignition. After having the truck for weeks they finally gave up and had me come get it. Basically I have to unplug it every time i turn the truck off so it won’t drain the battery. This was a $ 1000 programmer + labor, not to mention the other work, and they just told me to take a hike. I also had a power steering leak that they quoted around $ 650 to fix. I thought the previous owner of my truck told me it had recently been done so I took it to Timmon’s Auto & truck repair in Walnut Creek where they charged me $ 2 for a bolt that had backed out and was missing, never leaked again. I’ve had a few friends that had their trucks miss-​diagnosed by Left Coast as well, so I guess it’s hit or miss. Really something to think about as you see some other horrible reviews, the dealers aint any better either…

FRAUD!!! If they had a –5 on the stars these people would have got it! I have a 05 gmc with 17 000 miles, it was running poorly so I took it to left coast. My engine light was on & was running rough so they said it was the wiring harness to injector 7 & needed injector 7. So I paid the $ 1290 dollars Thats with the 10% discount. So I pick up the truck with the engine light still on & drive to Reno. After $ 250 in fuel & paying another $ 660 dollars to TA diesel in Reno Nevada to fix the problem. Left coast bullshitted me & never changed what they said they did. TA replaced the same things now the truck is running like new again… These people are a straight up rip OFF! Stay away

They know what they’re doing, and they wont dick you around. Place needs to grow a bit though, seems like its very crowded when i visit.

I took my F250 to Left Coast after Ford Dealer let me believe I had blown head gasket and bad EGR cooler. Left Coast advised me the actual problem was water pump, t-​stat and a few other minor issues. I found Left Coast to be honest, professional and technical with Diesel trucks. Thank you Left Coast.

Finally a good place to bring my Dodge ram. Thank you for specializing in this. They were busy, but they still got the work done in one day. Friendly people. Easy to park. As for the one star review below, you probably had an annoying voice. If they have too many calls to get back to you, yeah go elsewhere. Don’t slam someone on Unilocal because they are too busy. Or walk your ass in there and talk to someone and stop whining.

I don’t know how everyone can give them a 5 star rating. I took in my truck on a Friday and got a $ 3500 bulletproof EGR cooler block off and new fuel injectors. Then the truck breaks down on the following work day. They left me sitting in the truck till 7pm till a tow truck came, kept it for 4 more days, and I get it back on the Friday for an additional $ 2500. The truck is leaking oil, it’s leaking antifreeze and I take it to the Livermore branch because Concord is incompetent. They fixed the oil leaks but it breaks down the next day again (the turbo hose popped off) and my employees are stuck on the San Mateo Bridge. LCD replaced the clamp but didn’t tighten it!

Family friend, Tom D. was traveling from Michigan to Pleasanton, CA when he had a major engine problem with his dura max diesel. I contacted Left Coast Diesel based on their reputation and spoke to Adam Winslett who had Tom drop off the truck at one of their shops. Tom called us back to say that he dropped it off and was very impressed with Left Coast Diesel and their staff. They diagnosed the problem in under five minutes and told him it will be fixed by Wednesday. Thanks Left Coast Diesel!

Left Coast Diesel in Livermore is as good as it gets. They did major work on my long neglected ’99 Powerstroke, and handled everything that came up thoroughly, professionally, and expediently. I remain very impressed by their work. They went beyond the call of duty, even having the vehicle smog certified for me after completing the minor engine work. They r&r’d the transmission as needed at my request, and even delivered the truck back to my home. I was a walk in customer who’s now a loyal customer. Curtis, Richard, and the owner Eric, treated me like a VIP from the start. Thanks again guys…

My patients with their voicemail/​call back system paid off huge dividends! When my ’99 7.3 had issues I called and talk with them about it… they said to bring it in anytime and they would take a look at it… Here is a hint, take your truck in and leave for a day and you will have the same experience that so many have… they gave me a reasonable estimate for repairs and once they got into it, found out it wasn’t as much work as they thought and only charged my half of their original estimate. HONESTY, INTEGRITY, VALUE… I am a Left Coast Diesel customer for life!

As of this date I have sent an e-​mail asking for someone at their shop to contract me regarding some major service I need done on my truck. That e-​mail went unanswered. I then called and left a VOX message that was not returned. I called again and talked to someone live who said they would check on pricing and call me back. Which has not occurred.
If this is how responsive they they are to potential customers I can only imagine how bad they would be if I had issues post-​repair.

I live in the Bay Area. Last year my Dodge had an auto transmission starting to slip. So I took it to Left Coast Diesel in Concord for a new high performance diesel transmission rebuild. They used all the high performance parts they use in their own personal trucks, which means it needs to be extremely heavy duty. It’s now designed to handle up to 700hp which is far above the stock 180hp of this truck. Great work! If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I highly recommend you go further than your dealer and use Left Coast Diesel. Prices and labor are better, and these guys can make legal modifications to your diesel truck for higher fuel mileage and performance for towing, and general driving.
I also now take my Cummins powered Dodge here for all Bay Area Diesel Service and repairs. The mechanics here know their stuff, and I am happy with all the work. Great work, great folks!
