Flavoring was very good. Spicy chicken with bones was excellent and Xiao Long Bao were very good(filling wasn’t moist enough though) … Can’t go wrong! Fish fillet with tofu was good except sliced slivers of spam?!(Tasty, but interesting thought). Steamed sticky rice with ribs(Rice was good, ribs were dry) green onion cake appetizer was just ok.(But, They should have used hot water to make dough. Would’ve given these cakes the layers and flakiness needed) … Average person would not notice. They’ve prob used cold water since dumplings and potstickers uses similar dough, it just simplifies for kitchen. Overall, was very tasty meal… Looking forward to dessert, if enough time. rice balls with sake rice wine! Fav! Yummy!

As legit as it gets. I suspect most of the bad reviews are from diners with no experience eating real Sichuan food.

Went here for the second time. Came in a big group. One person called ahead to reserve a spot for 15 people. When we got there, the guy looked confused as if we were just walk-ins, even though we had already called ahead and made a reservation. He wanted to split us into 2 tables. It was not ideal when they could have asked one person to move and sat us along the bench and tables they had. We easily could have fit. And it wasn’t even busy at that time. Whatever. We sat at the two tables. There were 8 of us at one table and 7 at the other table. We were already settled and waiting for them to take our order, when they asked us to move to another table. What?! They don’t ask 1 person to move so we could all sit together, but yet they ask a whole table of people to relocate to seat another large party? Why don’t they make them sit at 2 separate tables like they did with us??? Once again, whatever. This place was already annoying me to no end. One person asked to modify his dish based on his food preference. Requesting tofu instead of egg. They just shot him down and said they couldn’t do it because they were too busy. Most places would do so, maybe for an extra charge, but they would do it. The customer service was greatly lacking at this joint. We sat and waited forever for our food. We noticed that our friends at the other table were already chowing down, while our food came out slowly. It was difficult to distinguish because who ordered a family style dish and who ordered off their lunch menu because they brought the food out in a family style fashion. One of our guys asked for a spoon because he doesn’t use chopsticks. The waiter comes back with a spoon for soup, as if he was having wonton soup. Why would be bring that out when no one was having any soup??? The place didn’t impress me the first time I went, so I decided to give it a try again with a group. This visit just reconfirmed my first visit. The lack of customer service just turns me off. They never came by and asked if we needed anything. I felt that all they saw was a large party and a tip.

Went there for lunch the food was above average pleasantly surprised. My wife had the cumin beef and I had the chicken and black bean sauce both yummy. However towards the end of our meal we were interrupted by a homeless man who had wandered in off the street and started begging for money. I told him it was inappropriate for him to be inside the restaurant asking patrons for money. He ignored me and proceeded to go from table to table asking for money. The host a young kid came to the front and I told him this was unacceptable and that he needed to ask the man to leave. The guy then asked him for food and the host told him he would go get him some rice. While he was gone the homeless guy proceeded to continue begging then stuffed a bunch of candies specified for charity into his pockets. At this point I got up and told him to get out. The host then brought him si rice and he then asked for soup and chicken. Clearly this restaurant was more concerned with feeding him than maintaining the dignity of their restaurant and the care of their customers. When the lady finally came from the back I expressed that this was unacceptable. I was expecting them to make it right by taking something off our bill but she just gave a smug apology«so sorry» their inability to effectively respond to a very inappropriate situation ruined our lunch! Not sure of I would go back

Good authentic Szechuan food. Fresh ingredients. Service is ok. I never expect a mind blowing service from a Chinese restaurant. Place is a bit hard to find. It’s hidden in the corner of a strip mall next to the Quickly bubble tea. I had to call them since I was unable to locate this place. Menu is quite big. They also serve the typical chinese american food, ie: general tso, sesame chicken, etc. Long story short, I will definitely be back.

My wife and I were long time Great China(Berkeley) customers. The food quality has slipped there, so we have been looking for a replacement for good Chinese food. Since LuLu’s Kitchen is local to us, we gave it a try. We have ordered take out three times and we really like their food. They use fresh ingredients, food always served hot — and not overcooked. Best of all their food is not tweaked for the American pallet(no spice, etc). It is Chinese cooking! I notice some of the other reviews that were not as favorable. Rest easy, a menu this diverse and everyone’s preferences will dictate their review. Here is a summary of what we ordered last night. Our meal last night consisted of: 1. Chef’s Special Seafood Soup. Seafood soups most Chinese restaurants that offer take out never taste fresh and the seafood is always overcooked like it was made in a hurry and without care. LuLu’s seafood soup is delicious. I could just order this and be happy! Try it, you will be surprised how tasty and fresh the ingredients were. Don’t forget to add a dash of White Pepper! 2. Fish Fillet with Dual Flavor. A poached white fish filet(2) with green peppers on one filet, and red on the other. Spicy, nice flavor, and cooked perfect. 3. Sauteed Ground Pork with Pickled Long Bean. A pickled Asian long bean chopped finely. Has a nice vinegar-sour flavor, but paired nice with the fried rice and soup we also ordered. 4. Combination Fried Rice. Nothing special as its fried rice. Freshly made It is just a simple side dish that supported the other food items. Quantity of food in their takeout dishes was substantial and value added. You get your money’s worth! All in all, LuLu’s Kitchen delivered fresh food and value for us. We plan to return and order other dishes. Shout out to the LuLu’s kitchen staff… keep up the good work!

Pros: Although the location is hidden in a semi-corner of a huge plaza, this is actually one of the best Sichuan Chinese food restaurants in the East Bay! Their menus are easy to read with lots of pictures and the food is really good! My favorite specialty of theirs is their sichuan fish fillet with tofu. SUPER delicious and the portions are HUGE! The dan dan noodles are another favorite and regular dish I order. The restaurant is a decent size so seating is pretty easy. The pricing is fair. Cons: What I would not recommend is their dim sum/breakfast portion of food. This is definitely a lunch/dinner kind of place so now you have been warned! The service is also not the most attentive at times but hey, it’s a Chinese restaurant. Overall: Highly recommended for Sichuan Chinese food! Delish!

Their fish soup was so good. It was spicy as expected and the serving was pretty big. We also ordered their sichuan chicken and to my surprise was really tasty and is now one of my favorite chicken dishes. We were seated straight away and the service was quite fast too. We will definitely come back to this place!

Got Christmas dinner take out from here. Big mistake. Both my husband and I have stomach aches and really, really wish we hadn’t eaten the food. It didn’t even taste good going down.

Rude service. 2 but should be 3 stars. Food was very good as compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Service was unpleasant and rude. Servers are unfamiliar with courtesy.

I don’t know how this place managed to have an average rating of 4 stars. What did the other Unilocalers eat? Since moving to Concord 2 months ago, I have yet to find a decent Chinese restaurant. The closest that I could find was Yan’s China Bistro in Walnut Creek. I decided to try Lulu’s because of the all the good reviews; I felt especially hopeful when I saw all the Chinese and Asian patrons eating in when I went in to pick up my order. How wrong I was. I came home to find my Combination Chow-mein seriously lacking in flavor. Next, my Pan-fried String Beans tasted as if all the ingredients were cooked separately and thrown into the same to-go container. Finally, my Salt and Pepper Fried squid, the most expensive of the three, at $ 12.95, was neither salty nor peppery. Worst of all, it was STALE, as though it were leftovers reheated in the microwave. Gross. Next time you want Chinese, drive the extra 5 minutes to Yan’s in Walnut Creek to save yourself some money and tongue some abuse. I know I will.

I had just pulled up Lulu’s to show a friend and I can’t believe I have not dropped a review. XLB, the best I have ever had. Eels in chili sauce, incredible. Squid, so tasty. Do yourself a favor and go check them out.

Outrageously delicious authentic reasonably priced Sichuan food set in an unassuming strip mall. Came here with my bro and sis in law who are regulars and knew to order lulu’s spicy chili tofu fish right away bc it takes a few minutes extra. This huge dish is a layer of soft tofu, topped with a layer of white fish filets, topped with stir fried Sichuan spicy(but not overly) saucy chopped veggies. Omg– I know I’m going to be craving this dish til I come back next year– haven’t had anything like it in philly:(. We also had the chives and tofu, west lake soup, and sizzling squid. Lulus was humming when we arrived at about 6:30 on a Saturday but filled with people waiting when we left about 8. Awesome. 5* overall, taking into account food quality, taste, and reasonable prices.

You want authentic Chinese food? Here is the place. It’s on the pricey side compared to other Chinese places. But portions are big, so I guess it’s fine. Frog cooked in clay pot wasn’t as good as I was expecting. Too much chile to the point that’s all you taste and not the meat. Fish with black bean and spam and onions(forgot the name) is good, just too greasy. The tofu we ordered was really good, but I also forgot the name. Anyway, this is a good place!

I ate here last year and again today and had a really great lunch. I don’t recall why I didn’t Unilocal my experience from last year. So here goes my review for today. This cute little place is nestled in a corner in the Park and Shop in Concord on Willow Pass next to Quickly. The interior is very colorful and reflects the beautiful red variations of Chinese culture. The staff today were very helpful. There menu is quite diverse. There were a lot of dishes that I had never heard of. I was not myself today and I ordered an old standard«Mongolian Beef». The meat was tender, there were a few more onions than I prefer. The sauce was very flavorful. No complaints whatsoever.

Unilocal says this is the place to go. I went and the lady at the door gave me a blank look and said this is a Chinese restaurant. I said ok, table for four, she still said this is Sichuan restaurant, than I asked her«I can’t eat here?» Rude. I should have made a joke and said not Sichuan but sichfour please! And mind you, I’m Asian too! But the food is good. Wierd that I felt discriminated by this lady. I didn’t acknowledge her presence after that encounter. I was afraid she was gonna spit on my food. I can’t even talk about the food. But it’s was delicious. And reasonable priced. Ordered 4 dishes and appetizer all for under $ 60. And had leftovers. Food may be good but lady made my dining experience not so good. Than I took a bite of the delicious food than it made it better. I should get over it and go back and try the other dishes. Yes, I will go back. And say table for sishfour people pls!

We have been to Lulu’s Kitchen twice this week to try the new Sichuan restaurant is Concord. They have a extensive colorful menu. It’s located in the big shopping complex with the Fry’s and Ranch 99 market. Plenty of parking in the center. The restaurant is minimally decorated but the food is good. We have had the following items: XLB4 stars not the best but pretty good for a side dish Marinated Chicken Feet 4.5 stars sweet sour and spicy Duel flavor Fish 5 stars Excellent must order if you like spicy fish Long bean with minced pork 4 stars salty sour great with rice Hot and Sour Sauteed Eel 3 stars good taste but the eel back bone is still on the eel Green Onion Pancakes 4 stars good onion favor Wontons in Red Chili Oil 1 star big thick skin wontons soaking in spicy butter flavor red chilli oil. Chinese Chives with five spice bean curd. 4 stars big portion lots of chives. Hot and Sour Soup 4 stars Great flavor light color(not made with soy sauce) Sen Jian Bao 2 stars taste OK but skin fell a part went picked up Cabbage with Pork Belly 3.5 stars not spicy very few pieces of pork lots of cabbage.
