Ooh La La Salon & Spa

This place is bomb. i got the 90 min massage with carlos. He made me feel real comfortable. After I got the facial with stacey, she is really really cool. I plan on makin another appointment with stacey for a facial and eye brow waxing.

I got a Living Social coupon for this spa which included a massage and a facial. I was looking for better options than what I had before. This place, tucked in between stores on Todos Santos Plaza is so off the square that you have absolute silence if you like. My masseuse was Carlos, a man very well versed in all of the healing arts using massage. He will tailor the massage to your needs and comfort level. I left that feeling amazing. He’s personable and was willing to talk while massaging me, something I like.
My aesthetician was also focused on providing a customized session. She asked what I wanted to work on most and then we focused on that. I ended up with a facial unlike any I had ever had and much more effective. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and crafts treatments to the needs of the customer. You can even buy custom products from her. Really great. Stacey is an expert, a surprise to me because she is so young. But she takes her business seriously and absolutely relishes the chance to make your skin look wonderful.

This review is for Stacey Carta, the newer esthetician at Ooh La La. She used to be at Miracullum Spa in Walnut Creek. She has worked on my teenage son’s acne for almost 4 years. Acne types/​causes are challenging to diagnose, and Stacey has not only used treatment and products for his acne, but also has assisted relieving his very painful dry inflamed skin that comes up at certain times of the year. He had bad acne — one day he came home extremely upset and said, «I have the WORST acne of everyone in the entire school!» That was before Stacey, and antibiotics helped a bit but I knew that wasn’t the ideal or answer. She also taught him how to care for his skin properly and has now been doing treatments on him to reduce any potential scarring. When there’s a problem that pops up, Stacey always knows what to do and finds a way to make it better!
Stacey is down-​to-​earth, casual and extremely professional, passionate and knowledgeable about what she does. The products and tools/​machines she now uses are hand-​picked and purchased by her, so you know she is an expert at how to use them and what she’s doing.
The spa itself is no Walnut Creek — but don’t be deceived by appearances. However, who doesn’t like walking past the open door of a Baskin Robbins ice cream shop? This is not the place for a spa day — it’s a place to get the care and attention your face deserves by Stacey. She doesn’t push products but knows the good ones — and can make special mixes herself for you too!

I’ve been going to Stacey for three years for my facials. She is the best esthetician I have ever had, and I drive quite a ways for my appointments. She knows my skin well and uses a variety of treatments to get my skin exactly where it needs to be. I would recommend her to anyone.

Stacey is the best at skin care! My skin looks and feels amazing everytime I go see her. It feels so smooth and looks radiant. I’ve been seeing Stacey for a year and a half now. My skin had acne, deep embedded blackheads, and uneven skin tone. I can’t even believe how much it’s improved. I don’t even have to wear makeup anymore. I love her! And she’s so sweet. Really I would recommend getting a facial here. You wont be disappointed!

My friend and I got facials at Ooh La La Salon and Spa yesterday. Stacey did excellent work and was really fun. Our faces actually look different and far better after she was done with each of us!
The Salon is undergoing some changes and upgrades currently. We enjoyed being there and it has a casual vibe that put us at ease. It was quiet and friendly. We plan to go back regularly.

I bought myself the package deal of a facial, massage, haircut, and highlights for $ 40 and I’m so glad I did. since I wasn’t interested in the highlights, they kindly let me get a manicure instead. each one was a great experience and I plan on going back! I’ll also be recommending this salon to my friends. it’s a very quiet place and the staff is quite friendly, you can definitely tell it’s a new place. still an excellent salon

I went in for my first facial ever. Stacey took care of me. She used some interesting tools that I never really knew existed before. I have had issues with acne when I was younger and still get some small breakouts nowadays. My skin is a bit red and dry at times too. The oxygen was refreshing after some scraping of dead skin in certain areas and a couple of creams. She was careful when applying the cream right under my eyes, although I cringed a bit anyway cause it is just a weird feeling to have someone else get their fingers so close to your eyes. I could get past it next time.
When all was said and done my face felt refreshed. It was smoother and had less redness than before I received the facial. I had heard someone say that after a facial you breakout because all the crap from under your skin comes to the surface. Another person told me that it depends what products they use. Stacey did well to use products that did not cause me to breakout. It has been 3 days since I went in and got it and my face is still less red and looks pretty good overall. It is something I would be interested in doing again if it continues to clear up my face and add moisture to it since i work in a dry and hot atmosphere.

Got a great cut from Della. Don’t know much about hair styles but brought in a picture of what I wanted and she got it perfect. Everyone there was very friendly, would def recommend.

I recently went to Ooh la La Salon. I’ve been agonizing about the right treatments– I’m just into my middle 40s so I want to look good. The esthetician, Stacey, was so knowledgeable I immediately felt comfortable and let her pick the treatment. I am really happy with the results– Thank you Stacey Carta!

So hah, just kidding on the cut! I was styling it this morning and realized it’s not an even cut across the back (after an hour there). It’s short right in the center, which sucks because the front is really as short as I wanted. Called back and one of the other women was kind enough to fix it.

I should of known the deal was to good to be true. Talk about a spa gone wrong. Whoever owns this business must be a man and have no idea what true spa, beauty and salon atmosphere should be, look like or feel like. It feels like walking into a cheap unclean place with negative energy. Far from relaxing and very busy with to much going on.
Although the therapist and est were very nice however not very literate with there profession. Maybe its poor management or ownership, I was hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they just opened but from the looks of it this place has been around for a couple years. That is impressive. Very bummed but I know better, it was to good of a deal to be true.

I did not enjoy my time here… I had a Groupon for 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial. The staff members that serviced me were nice enough, however they didn’t check in with me during my visit at all. The massage therapist never asked about pressure levels and have me a full body massage even though I specifically said that I was having upper body pain. The woman doing my facial didn’t ask me what I wanted help with or talk me through the service at all. I’ve never had a facial before so I had no idea what to expect or what she was doing and I guess I still don’t know. Worst of all, the facial only lasted 20 minutes instead of 60. I contacted Groupon and have since gotten a refund.

Got a living social deal for a facial and massage… been trying to call and make an appointment for two weeks now. I was told to call back a little later the first time I called… because they didn’t have a massage therapist anymore. now today they claim they are «just not taking any appointments for facials or massages» because they don’t have anyone to do them! Well then don’t sell living social vouchers for sketchy massage or facial therapists! Poor business practice. The person I’ve talked to on the phone each time too has been unprofessional and rude.

I’ve had two very different experiences here and ultimately this is not a place I’d recommend to friends. Several months ago (when they were new) I went in for a bikini wax. I purchased a group of 3 waxes for a great deal, and also a massage as a gift for my husband. Casey spent an hour with a male masseuse & said he talked through the whole massage. My experience took almost as long and was horrendous. I could hardly walk when I left and I had bruising on my inner thighs the next day. (This wasn’t my first wax and that’s really abnormal — it’s not a terrible procedure if you have the right person). Since the place had no Unilocal reviews yet, I didn’t want to start them off with a one-​star, so I bit my tongue and decided to eat the cost of the other two waxes I’d prepaid for.
An Amazon Local deal recently popped up for a 60-​minute facial ($ 29) & I decided to give them another shot. This experience was a lot more pleasant, but there are several reasons I still wouldn’t return. I arrived 15 minutes early for a 5:30 p.m. appointment. I walked through the dark building in Todos Santos Plaza to the back where the sparkly Eiffel Tower marks the presence of this salon. I was «greeted» by 3 employees who told me Janelle would be disappointed I was early because she was just about to tan. Ohhhhkay. Janelle appeared and I was relieved to see a well-​dressed, professional young woman, who in no way made me feel like she was «disappointed» I was early. (Who says that anyhow?!)
At 5:20 she took me back to the same room from hell I’d visited months before. She gave me a couple minutes in private to put on a robe and then returned and began my facial. The room has four walls that do not reach the ceiling so it’s very loud & distracting. Her gentle hands made up for this and I was in and out of sleep throughout the entire facial, enjoying the moments I was awake. At the conclusion, I took my time dressing, then met back at the front where I redeemed my voucher, tipped, and left. Once outside I realized it was only 6:10. Do the math.
Honestly, I’ve only had a facial once before. It was recently, and I left that salon excited to tell others about how amazing it was and thinking about what a wonderful gift it would make for my mother or friends. I left that 1^st salon feeling cleaner and more refreshed — with noticeably better results. In the future I won’t try to save money on a service like a facial. Even though I enjoyed this one too, the environment and result should be one you can’t wait to rave about to friends — in a good way.

The massage therapost hands were shaking and I left feeling more stressed then when I went in… no lotions or anything was used

LANGUAGE BARRIER!!!
Although the staff is very nice and speak good English, we and the reception staff had a language barrier with esthetician Ana.
Before going, we left two voicemails on two different days but eventually had to walk in on Tuesday, April 22^nd 2014 due to no call backs. They said they were having phone problems.
Took our 13 year old grandson to have a very noticeable pimple removed from his nose.
Appointment took an hour and we emphasized that we were there for the obvious acne on the nose.
After the treatment, he exited and the acne was still there. We inquired about the acne and the receptionist called the esthetician Ana to the desk. Quite a language barrier that even the receptionist had a hard time understanding Ana. It was eventually learned that Ana «supposedly» applied a solution that would make the pimple either disappear or fall off within 24 hours. The receptionist even had the same treatment done before and vouched for it.
24 hours later (even 48 hours later), the pimple was still there.
Although the «facial» was only $ 35, it did not accomplish our goal.
We had never asked the price as it was not important for what we wanted.
A follow up call resulted in the esthetician saying we needed to take him to a dermatologist.
By the way, expect a barrage of text messages from the esthetician the next day trying to setup a follow up appointment.
