We had Bob and Matt repair out chimney and install new fire longs. They offer the best costumer service and the quality of there work is outstanding. I can recommended both Bob and Matt highly.

We had our fireplace cleaned by Russo’s who recommended we call Bob about repairs that needed to be done. We called Bob and he gave a us an estimate. My husband wanted another just to compare and that person even recommended Bob. I can see why… the guy is first so nice and comes when he says he is going to, he was clean and quick and knew everything about the problem and just how to fix it. The job was done quickly and I was able to have a fire on Christmas Eve (he came 2 days before). I had an appointment and had to leave and felt totally comfortable leaving he and his co worker at my home. When I came home he had fixed my Christmas lights on my porch and also cleaned out my gutter!.. How many people would do that as well… Loved this guy and would sooooo recomend him to anyone

Most of the time with contractors people leave 5 star reviews and it just means «It wasn’t to bad». (See other posters comments about toddlers who missed a nap) Bob conducts himself, and does his job in a 5 star manner. We are on the end of a home addition and I have had dealings with a lot of contractors. RD’s hands down one of the good ones: he shows up when he says he will, does everything he says he will, and does it in the time frame he initially gives you. He reminds me of the contractor I worked for a number of years ago, a rare gem in a sea of mediocre performance. Seriously if you need fireplace masonry done he is the man.

Most contractors are like toddlers that missed an afternoon nap. They whine, leave crap all over the place, and always want more. Bob and his crew are the complete opposite. They came in on time, under budget, and left our place immaculate. They took our 50s era, non-​working fire-​hole and turned it into something we can rally around and enjoy. We’re now getting cozy around glow of our remodeled fireplace!

Bob and his team are awesome! We needed a chimney repair on a house we just purchased because it was broken at the roof line. We were so worried of it falling into the house should there be an earthquake. They were superstars! They fit us into their busy schedule and worked in the pouring rain to give us peace of mind and get it fixed. I would recommend Bob Dias and his team to anyone needing fireplace work!

Other than a few loose bricks, our fireplace looked fine. After Bob Dias inspected it, he pointed out the breaches in the mortar that presented a fire danger. He rebuilt the fireplace box, moving the rear wall farther back and enlarging the opening to the flue to ensure better air flow and safer fires. Bob worked us into his schedule effiecently, so we could enjoy our fireplace this season! His partner, Brendan, was as courteous and professional as Bob, and our living room was left clean and shiny. Extremely professional and competent, we’re glad we found him! We would highly recommend his services to anyone!

I didn’t know they made people like Bob and his crew anymore! They are delightful, friendly, responsible, knowledgeable, considerate… and they LOVE their masonry! Bob took care of everything, and then a bit more, all for the original quoted price. He came when he said he would, called frequently, always returned calls promptly, and counseled us on related issues above and beyond the actual work he was doing. It is so, so rare to find people who take such pleasure and pride in both their work, and the service they provide. I got a new (beautiful) chimney, and a shot of faith and joy in my fellow man. That’s a lot for the price of some brickwork!

Hired Bob to repair the fire brick and install spark caps on our chimney and found additional problems with the chimney. I’m certain that other contractors wouldn’t have been as diligent as RD’s and likely wouldn’t have discovered the faults in our chimney system. Bob’s workmanship is excellent and his responsiveness was great as well. I’ve met very few people who care about their craft as much as Bob and I can’t recommend him highly enough.

We were referred to Rd’s by Sal Russo from Russo’s Chimney Sweep. While cleaning the chimney Sal found substantial structural damage. The house was built in 1948 and has a traditional brick chimney. The chimney had been leaking for years and we hired 2 different companies to identify the problem and do repairs. The repairs were very expensive and they weren’t done properly. We continued to see water in the fireplace which is why we chose to hire Bob since he has been in the masonry business for over 40 years. He was quick to identify problems such as severe cracks in the mortar as well as putty that had been used to repair areas on the roof around the chimney. The prior repair people did not use the correct product therefore the putty they used dried and cracked. I actually climbed on the roof to see it for myself. We set up a date & time to have the repairs done. Bricks had to be removed from the back of the fireplace in order to repair the cracked mortar on the inside of the chimney and then replaced with new bricks. The job took most of the day. All repairs were done both inside the fireplace and on the roof to my complete satisfaction. When the job was complete Brenden (Bob’s assistant) took a video of the roof/​chimney area on his smartphone to show me the repair work that they had done. We needed to replace the fireplace doors and Bob recommended that we order them from
since they were less expensive and most purchases qualify for free shipping. He sent me a list of about 6 different selections on Amazon that would be appropriate for our fireplace. We ordered the one he personally recommended and Brenden came back out to the house and installed it at no additional charge. We had a great experience and would recommend Rd’s for qualified masonry work.

Of all the contractors we’ve hired since we’ve moved to the East Bay, my husband and I agree that Bob Dias is our favorite! He was a recommendation from our realtor and we couldn’t agree more. He showed up when he said he would, he was neat, his estimates were right on, he was very knowledgable, and his work is terrific. I can’t wait for it to get cold so I can use my fireplaces!!! Hired Bob and his assistant for 1 job to fix a rental. Their estimate was a bit higher than a couple of other bids; but given their reviews on Unilocal,I hired them. The quality of workmanship was satisfactory but they started the job 1 week after the scheduled start date and only notified me of the delay on the day that they were actually scheduled to start. Since every other contractor needed a minimum of at least 1 to 2 week’s notice, rather than starting from scratch, I proceeded to go along with them. Nevertheless, I had to compensate a tenant, since — due to Bob’s delay — the place was not ready by the time of the tenant’s arrival.
As a brief summary of the matter, I wasn’t timely notified of Bob’s delay, had to compensate a tenant, and didn’t receive a discount.
Do not waste your time and money with Bob.

Just had our chimney torn down and rebuilt by Bob and Brendan. VERY impressed all around. Very knowledgeable and professional/​courteous. Gave us a fair estimate and even made every effort to coordinate with our roofer to get the job done in conjunction with our roof job. Even after we had paid him in full for the work noted on the estimate, there was about another hour of work that came up at the end to plug some other voids that became apparent on the last day. They spent additional time sealing those up to make everything safe and never asked for additional payment for the extra work. Left everything clean and tidy. Even when our inspector came to inspect our roof job– he noticed that we had our chimney done by Bob and told us that it was a good choice. He knew Bob over the years of being an inspector and said he did good work. When the work is related to your fireplace and chimney that could potentially cause a fire if not done right, you want to feel very confident in the people doing the work. Overall, very glad that we used Bob and will definitely call him again with anything related to masonry. Will probably even call him to get his opinion on contractors to use for other jobs. I did my homework about chimney repairs and kept on coming back to Bob Dias. He and Brendan work together as a team. Let me tell you there are not too many masonary contractors out there. I have a chimney that needs to be torn down and rebuilt. I got three different bids all at different prices but knew Bob was the most knowledgable. He learned the masonary trade from his father and has had over 40 years of experience. He is passionate about his work and makes sure the consumer knows what work needs to be done and the process of making your chimney safe. He has C-​20-​C-​36-​C-​29 licenses. He is able to pull a permit with the city when many other chimney repair companies cannot do that because they’re not licensed. Along with the chimney repair, he connected and installed my gas log sets! There was a gas line already installed in my firebox before I moved to this house but I know Bob can install gas lines as well. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve called Bob with questions and he is so patient with all of my questions and concerns. If anyone needs masonary repair on their chimney Bob is your man!

Bob and Brendan repaired out chimney. They were prompt, curteous and informative. They also completely cleaned up when they were finished, you would have never known they had been in our living room. I would highly recommend RD’s Service Contractor to anyone needing repair work.
