beware of this place. I tried this place last year because we moved to Concord from San Francisco. I asked the front desk if my provider will cover my checkup and routine cleaning. She said, YES. so I went ahead and schedule one. I went there, Dr. Galvan checked and said, I need to have a deep cleaning procedure, come back every 4 months and all other outrageous procedures. Which I believe was totally unnecessary and would cost me thousands!!! I go to dentist regularly and never have issues with my teeth. I only do routine cleaning, regular xray, that’s it. never had issues. I have a cousin who is currently doing internship in dentistry and told me the Doctor trying to scam me. I would never go back to this place again! and Oh, before I forgot, my provider told me they will not cover the check up as the clinic is not under my coverage! freaking front desk lied to me as well.

I will just make this short and sweet. There’s a dental office in Concord, on Clayton Road, the address is 4375 Clayton Road, Ste. D.
I have been a patient of this office for a long time; several years through my former employer’s benefit plan. Anyway, I just want to say Dr. Galvan is an ace. I have my A-​Team there (Dr. Galvan and Angie). It’s going to take time and trust as you accumulate time over there in order to get to know Dr. Galvan and his staff. That is should you become his patient. He and his staff will take good care of any dental problem you may have. There’s this certain level to reach, provided you follow his suggestions, advices, or plan (whatever you want to call it). Oh yes, one other thing. Trust him, he won’t put you astray. He knows what he is doing.
For example: I have a crack tooth, it’s a two-​step process and he and his staff took good care of me. Final result of my crack tooth? He ended up putting a crown on my broken tooth and there’s no pain at all. That’s the main thing for me. He exults confidence where just feeling him, he will put you at ease.

My mom and I have been going to Dr. Galvin since 2007 (7 yrs now). I switch between the Fairfield or Concord office depending on if I’m coming from home or work and I appreciate their flexibility with me. The office staff and assistants are always so nice and I love how they always welcome me back and make me feel like family when I come for my visits.
I will admit my out of pocket portion for my services do feel a bit expensive considering I have both Humana and GEHA dental insurance, but overall I am happy with my smile. I got invisible r from Dr. Galvin and my smile looks a million times better than before. They are always flexible will work with you on payment plans. My only major complaint is the color mismatch of my crowns that show when I smile. I wish I could have made the decision about the color before he ordered them, but the fit is good and I have no problems. Other than that I am shocked to read the poor reviews and negative experiences from other patients because my experiences have been positive.

My family have been coming here for 10 years and we are very happy.
The staff are very friendly and wonderful!
Dr. Galvan is the BEST! He explains every procedure, takes his time and he is thorough (perfectionist). I recommended him to my friends and they were happy.

Agree with some of the other low ratings here, this place is not interested in your well being and is only trying to get into your pockets!!!
I visited Steve Galvans office after chipping a tooth. They did a great job of scaring me into believing my tooth were ruined beyond any reasonable repairs, and that I would need to shave down 5 other teeth to tiny nubs in order to get crowns put on… They also said to match the color, I would need to shave down the 11 other front teeth and get crowns on these as well. For this, they quoted me $ 9000 and sent me on my way with very unclear instructions on what was to happen next…
When I talked to the insurance billing lady at the office, she replied that I should NOT contact my insurance company before them, and that I should only seek insurance approval for 2 out of 5 of the damaged teeth, because «it would look fishy, and the insurance company will not approve.» Lying to my insurance company about a legitimate injury to my mouth was a HUGE red flag, and makes all the more sense now… Truth is, I didn’t need ANY crowns, and this is why they were not willing to submit all 5 damaged teeth for approval — all while making me believe that 16 of my natural teeth would need to be shaved down, and that I would pay 9k for full mouth reconstruction,…this was not the case however…
After getting a second opinion from several dental school friends, and researching local dentists — I found Dr. Todd Loftin a mile away, who did his undergrad at Berkeley and dental school at UCSF (one of americas top 5 dental schools). All of my dental school friends, and Dr. Loftin said the treatment plan from Steve Galvan was absolutely ridiculous… STEVE GALVAN WAS GOING TO SHAVE ALL OF MY TEETH TO ROB ME OF 9 GRAND, FOR NO NECESSARY REASON!
I got this repaired by Todd Loftin, who took a week to see because understandably, the good dentists are all booked. He fixed my chipped tooth perfectly for my $ 50 insurance deductible, explained to me that my teeth would not crumble in 2 months if I did this (which is what Dr. Galvan said would happen), and I even got my teeth whitened with him in the process.
All is as good as new. my smile looks better than ever. and I am so relieved that I did not let Steve Galvan rob me.

I had been coming here since I moved from the East Coast 6 years ago.
The staffs are truly marvelous starting from Cathy at the front desk to all the dental techs and Dr Galvan of course.
Dr Galvan patiently explains every procedure that is being done and takes time to answer any queries. And he does have gentle hands that would ease anyone’s fear of dentist
And let’s face it, dental out of pockets can really be very expensive. But it’s one less worry for me because they always help make an easy financial plan for me.
Kudos to Cathy for her charm and diligence in following up with your after care. I messed
a few schedules in the past but she never made me feel guilty. She’s a gem

After leaving were you told you have gingivitis? Come back every 4 months for treatment? Even worse you need a root canal? This dentist should be investigated for malpractice. I made a major mistake of coming here due to being cheap about my insurance and I will never make that mistake again. I cracked a tooth and while sitting in the chair waiting I heard 3 other patience be informed they have gingivitis and need to come back every 4 months plus two others needed root canals. When it was turn, like someone at a carnival I was informed (guess) I have gingivitis and a root canal. After faking an excuse to call for the appointment I ran fast and far. My next dentist which I paid a bit more gave me a filling for the cracked tooth and informed me I even good gums and nothing near gingivitis. This was nothing more than a reason to charge my insurance. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UN MORALE PERSON THAT CLAIMS TO BE A DENTIST. Please protect your teeth and pocket

This place is a scam. I recently moved and wanted to find a dental office close to home. I went in and was informed I have needed 10 filling and a crown because I had a filling that needed to be replaced but it was so big my tooth would crumble and would need a crown. What? Then I get my treatment plan that was incredibly high. This is a dentist on my insurance network, why is it so high? Well they only do white fillings and my insurance doesn’t cover white fillings.
Anyway. I got my xrays emailed to my old dentist (who I loved but didn’t want to travel to) and after being reexamined found I have 2 very small fillings and 1 to watch and absolutely no need for a crown. Obviously a dentist would not turn away thousands of dollars worth of work. I am reporting this place to the BBB. This is a chop shop for dental work! Patients beware.

This place is a joke!!! I made an appointment to get a filling filled and a cleaning. When I went the dentist assistant (Mexican guy) was so rude and lazy he did not want to do both services. He wanted me to come back just pure laziness. DO NOT GO!!!

I have been going here for about 10 years now. From my routine cleanings, fillings, my horrible wisdom teeth discovery and lastly my invisiligns! Dr. Steve has walked me through it all and I have absolutely no complaints. :) My teeth are now sparkling white and as straight as they can be thanks to him and his amazing staff! For those complaining, if you don’t want to be told that you have cavities and what not its as simple as brushing your teeth twice a day, getting checked up regularly and floss! He has no control over your teeth only you do so stop blaming others for what you have done! :D toodles!

My whole family has been going to Galvan Family Dental Center for many years. We are absolutely satisfied with Dr Steve’s work.
He sits beside us before procedures and takes time to ask us if we have questions or concerns. He also explains what will be done and what other options we have. He is very careful during procedures and always asks how we feel. I don’t even notice those gentle hands working on my teeth.
I also like the clean and organized office and also their very nice and friendly staff members. Another thing I like is that they call me by my name — it makes it very personal.
This dental office is highly recommended !

i’ve been a patient of this office for quite some time now… and love it. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable… Dr. Galvan is very good at explaining all the treatment… and any other questions that i have. I especially like that they have this cool camera THAT goes inside the mouth AND TAKES PICTURES of the teeth. it shows you exactly what he is looking at. That way were both on the same page. Anyway its a great dental office, staff, and doctor are great. highly recommend…

Really? I have been going to this office for almost 8 years and have not had any problems. The front office staff is the best I have seen and Dr. Galvan is an awesome dentist. I don’t know how these bad reviews came about but now i have a child I take her to get her teeth cleaned there as well and she always looks forward to seeing her dentist.

I would absolutely not recommend this dentist. I had a situation similar to the other reviewer who has been somehow «filtered». I had relocated to the East Bay and given up my trusted dentist because of the distance. Dr. Galvin said I had multiple cavities, required a full deep cleaning (requires novocaine), and invisalign. Because my insurance was going to cover it all, I scheduled the appointments. In the mean time, I gave my old dentist a call to touch base on what had been recommended (I had seen him six months earlier) and he was shocked. He said there was absolutely no need for the deep cleaning as I had just been seen (and have always regularly seen a dentist) and that he was doubtful that 6 cavities had formed in the last 6 months. With that said, I canceled my appointments. Stressful, scary experience for someone trying a new dentist. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy. Who likes to be numbed up for no reason?

I have been going to Galvan Dental for a little over 2 years now. I love Dr. Steve Galvan because he truly educates his patients about what he’s doing to their teeth and the reasons he recommends them. They always call me whenever I have an appointment coming up or send me post cards instead.
About 2 months ago, I decided to finally get invisalign as my teeth badly needed them. I love that I can take my aligners whenever I eat and floss normally. Plus, a lot of people can’t even tell that I have them on.
I highly recommend Dr. Galvan and his friendly staff.

This dentist was the absolute worst. I changed dentists and chose this office as my new dental provider. They told me I had 8 cavities when 6 months prior (my old dentist) had found zero cavities. Of course you dont know who to believe so I paid to have them all filled. I had to go to the office four times in one month. Within one week one of my fillings fell out. Also in the course of getting all these «cavities» filled they cracked one of my teeth, they claimed it was a coincidence and they were not responsible. However they had filled a tooth directly touching the tooth that somehow mysteriously cracked.
They tried to sell me invisalign non stop when my teeth are almost perfectly straight minus a barely noticeable tooth on the bottom. I had braces for years and my teeth look beautiful, there is no reason for invisalign and for their constant sales push. More than this I have nice well taken care of teeth all around. I cant imagine what it must be like for people with actual teeth issues to go to this dentist.
Do yourself a favor and dont go here. Dont be fooled by the friendly staff, it doesnt matter if they are friendly if your teeth start falling out from their dental services.
