The Grout Expert

My bathroom and kitchen needed major help as I had not kept up with sealing the grout and replacing old caulk. Both my bathroom and kitchen are looking bright and new with Mario’s attention to detail and the right products for the job. The bathroom is large travertine tiles and the kitchen is small porcelain tiles. He cleaned the grout until it was no longer discolored and replaced the caulk with exactly the right color to match the grout. Mario is very professional, knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him to tackle your tough grout problems. Thank you, Mario!

Very disappointed, had a 10am appointment and no one showed up or called. I called them at 11 and was told someone would call me back, no apology, no explanation. Got a call back 15 minutes later telling next available appointment was in three days. No thank you.

I found Grout Experts on the internet and called them. They responded very quickly and got me on their calendar within a week (during the busy holiday season, too!). Mario arrived on time and was so professional and courteous. The grout in our floor tile was almost black and he renewed it to its original color and also fixed several cracks in the grout. Great job and would definitely hire them again!

My girlfriend and I found The Grout Expert online and used them to have some of our cracked kitchen tiles replaced while also having the grout redone and cleaned (late review). Mario did a great job with that! We had Mario come back to have our bathroom tiles cleaned and he also recaulked the tub. Another great job! Mario was very kind and professional. We will go back to The Grout Expert for any future needs!

I heard of the Grout Expert through a friend, i was looking for someone to clean my kitchen and bathroom floors on a super short notice. I had spoken with Adam and he talked with Mario to check his availability. Mario called me within the hour to work with my hectic schedule and was able to accommodate. The difference was literally night and day, I had never seen the tile and grout this clean since the day we installed it. Mario stayed late and I was very thankful, I would highly recommend this company!

These guys did a superb job. My bathroom looks like new! Fair price, great people. If there was 6 stars I would give it to them. They made a same day visit and made everything easy.

I contacted Adam directly via email, after reading about the call center problems in another review. Adam responded to my request for a quote within an hour. He suggested that I send pictures of the shower that needed work. I did and we handled the entire transaction by email. I needed a glass enclosure removed from a stall shower, mildewed caulking removed and new caulking applied in the shower and around the kitchen sink.
On the scheduled day, Mario arrived about 5 minutes early and got right to work. He is super-​courteous and professional. He didn’t waste any time and finished an hour earlier than the estimate. I’m very pleased with the quality of the work. Of course, with grout, we’ll see how it looks in a few months. But with their 1 year guarantee, I’m confident that their work will stand the test of time.

Got to start off by saying this duo is amazing!
Its hard to find good honest contractors without having someone tell you about them which is what brought me to Unilocal.Nothing but good things said about Adam and Mario and don’t let it fool you its all true. I inquired a phone estimate since I’m usually almost busy. Adam asked me to send some photos of the shower I wanted to get regrouted and he was quick to reply with a time frame and a price letting me know that there may be a +/​-​100 $ depending on what his worker Mario may find. The price wasn’t to bad to start with so we came to an agreement.
Mario was right on time and very polite! It seemed like he knew what he was doing and after inspecting the shower he told me it would actually be 75 $ less! I was surprised with the honesty and the shower came out looking brand new! Definitely recommend this trustworthy duo. They’re definitely on a mission to please their customers!

Adam contacted me immediately after reading my email and review. He came out as soon as *my* scheduled allowed it. We discussed grout v. caulking and some other details and compromised. I suggested that he leave the caulk and simply repair it rather than remove it all but in the end he re-​grouted the perimeter and even removed, cleaned, and recaulked the perimeter of the door.
If you are as discriminating as I am with products and services I would just suggest that you go through the details of the work that will be done. They’ll do it anyway you want.
I offered to pay him an additional amount, he said it wasn’t necessary, I paid him anyway.

We had them do our rental property in San Ramon almost a year ago. They cleaned and colored the grout with a stain. They did the work before our tenants moved in with (two dogs and three kids). The tenants unfortunately just moved out. We expected allot of work as usual. We are amazed that the floor looks almost exactly the same. The product they used or” sealer” must be amazing stuff because the grout lines are an off white and usually discolor really easy. The tile and grout looks like it was just installed.
I had to Unilocal this because now I am happy with their service. We would usually call a company to clean all our flooring but not this time :)

So I will start off by saying my bathroom is white! White tile with white grout and my wife keeps it very clean. Time has passed and mold began to develop so my wife said we need to fix it. After numerous home remedy attempts to get the caulk and tile grout clean we decided, actually my wife recommended calling a proffesional. So I called The Grout Experts! Mario arrived on time and performed an amazing job. He removed the old caulk replaced it with bright white fresh caulk, removed some old dirty grout and replaced that and then sealed the whole shower. What a difference, it looks so much better and was very reasonably priced. I will be using these guys again for all my tile and grout needs.

I heard of this duo by word of mouth and was not disappointed! We just needed a couple things done in our bathroom when we first moved in (refresh the tile and grout, since it was old and dirty. 1972 condo, and reseal a few things in our bathtub that was building up in the corners. gross) and we didn’t have the time to do it ourselves. Crazy busy schedule at the time! Adam and Mario were there on time, very professional and personable. I’d definitely recommend them!

My experience started off on the completely wrong foot but was salvaged by Adam. Don’t be turned off by the people you reach on the phone. Once you are dealing directly with Adam you are in great hands.
The bad
The Grout Experts appear to use a call service company to handle incoming calls etc. In my opinion this call service is horrible and possibly costing them customers.
I called to schedule a free inspection and my information was taken and I was told I had a 12pm appointment. When 12:20pm rolled around nobody was at my home so I called for an update. They asked for all of my information again then informed me I would be called back. The general service area I am in is run by Hoang, he called me shortly afterwards and apologized for the miscommunication. Appointments are given in 1 hour windows and I was scheduled for 12pm-​1pm, the call service company should not have told me it was a 12pm appointment. I have had a few other contractors out and know the hour window is the norm so I had no problem with that. Hoang said my technician was on the way and should be there on time.
I waited until 1:20pm rolled around before I was completely annoyed. I called Hoang and cancelled the appointment. Hoang was surprised and thought someone should have been there already.
About 10 minutes after I cancelled Adam knocked on my door. Since he was already at the door I asked for some time to cool off then invited him in to carry on with the inspection.
The good
Once I was finally directly interacting with Adam everything was great. Adam is very friendly and open about the work that needed and didn’t need to be done.
Adam gave me a fair quote and more importantly his direct cell phone number to avoid the call center service in the future. After discussing the quote with my wife I called Adam back to confirm the work to be done and schedule everything.
I did not receive a courtesy call confirming the appointment a day in advance. I mentioned this to Adam and he said it should have been done (call service company dropped the ball again)
Actual work performed
When my appointment time rolled around Adam was at the door at 10am on the dot.
I am a first time homeowner and still learning all of my new responsibilities. I followed Adam around and took notes on everything. In addition to doing the scheduled work Adam also explained things I would need to know to handle items on my own. He was honest with me regarding what didn’t need a contractor and what I should be able to handle with DIY supplies from Lowes or Home Depot.
I noticed that Adam is one of the quality workers who doesn’t just want to do his job, he wants to do his job right. For example, when he was done caulking areas he would go back to it to make sure everything looked right and was setting correctly. He didn’t just caulk and move on.

I called The Grout Expert to do some work in my bathroom and I have to say, I was completely blown away by these guys were able to do. My bathroom looked a million times better than it was. The quality of work and professionalism were absolutely top notch. Adam (the expert) was also just a really great guy to boot. I have a few more tile and grout projects left to do, and I’m definitely calling Adam to take care of it. If you need any grout work done, I’d highly recommend this guy.

They did such an awesome job on our kitchen. Very professional service.

Our floor looks better than the day that it was installed. They cleaned the tile, cleaned the grout, and then changed the color of the grout. Adam Price and his worker made our old tile look modern by using a lighter color. Love it! We will use them for our other projects too
