Baylor St. Luke’s Emergency Center-Conroe

Had the worst experience ever! The nurse (older lady with short hair) made me feel like I was stupid for taking my 7 month old daughter to them for a fever. She had fever for 3 days, diarrhea and vomiting and she made a comment «kids do get sick you know» she continue to scold me for not giving her fever reducer today. I told her I did last night but she was rude to me no matter what I said. Before the doctor came, the receptionist told me my insurance didn’t cover emergencies when she clearly stated that they did when I came in. I grabbed my baby and left in tears before Doctor saw my daughter. Will never go back to this place!!!

I’ve visited Physicians ER for each of my kids — kidney infection and stomach pains. With my daughter, who had the kidney infection, we’d been to the Urgent Care that morning and she was diagnosed but had a spike in fever and the doctor sent us to this ER. The problem I had was the attitude of the doctor mainly, who treated us the entire time like we were idiots for being there for a high fever. Each time I began to feel that way I had to remind myself that the Urgent Care doctor sent us. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. My son’s stomach pains were treated differently, though the doctor who saw us for this wasn’t rude but did seem confused the whole time like he wasn’t sure what decisions to make. He ever left the choice of the CT scan up to us, which I can understand giving patients options, maybe they don’t want to deal with the fees associated, but I like doctors to give solid recommendations one way or another. Regardless, that wasn’t a huge deal and we really enjoyed all of the staff we encountered that night, including the woman who did his scan. She was wonderful.
The billing for my daughter has been a total nightmare. The company that handles it is incredibly unprofessional and difficult to work with. Like all large medical bills I make large monthly payments until they’re paid off in a few months. I received my bill for my daughter and began paying. The physician statement and the ER statement were given the same account number, with the invoices always referencing three ways to pay: by phone, by mail or by website. So each month I went to the website and I made my payment. Each month the invoice total never updated and I kept thinking it was run before payments were credited and just waited. About two or three invoices in I called to find out what was going on and was told that their invoices were incorrect. That the website referenced was set up to take payments for the physician statements but not for the ER. ??? What?! So he looked and found all of our overage on the physician statement, moved it over, and said we should be good now and would see an updated account balance reflected on the invoice. Okay, extremely frustrating but whatever… at least it was fixed. Or so I thought. I received a collections notice today for the FULL AMOUNT originally denied by insurance. We just spoke 2 – 3 weeks ago on the phone and today I get a collections notice… for the wrong amount! So I called, spoke to the same guy, and he decided to ignore the fact that we’d spoken just recently, that my account was not at the balance indicated, or that they had a massive internal error that led to this account not being paid. He focused on their «new policy» that stated that if you don’t set up a payment arrangement that it doesn’t matter if you pay, and it doesn’t matter that this is how it’s been done in the past, or that he failed to mention this to me a few weeks ago. It just was what it was, oh well, «If you had taken care of your own business then it wouldn’t be this way.» I interrupted him to ask to speak to a manager and was told, «NO. You listen to me. I listened to you, now you be quiet and listen to me.» I never raised my voice, never used improper language, etc. with you to be spoken to like that. The manager gets on the phone and pushes the same policy and could not at all understand even the discrepancy in the billing amount reported. She admitted that he should have informed me of the new policy when we spoke recently, but it was what it was. I attempted to explain that had I known this was the case then I would have happily made that arrangement but was never informed in any way that their policy had changed affected patients who submitted monthly payments. She then attempted to reference a line at the bottom stating that to keep an invoice out of collections to call a number, which I then said normally refers to bills that cannot be paid, but she had no further comments or ideas on that situation. It then took me three tries to explain to her that payments had been made and the total reported was NOT the balance of my account. She offered to call and attempt to fix it with the company reported to. I have a feeling this probably isn’t over.
I have never had so many issues with any facility regarding billing. I will never again use this ER due to this situation. This was frustrating on every level.

My wife was helped there in April. They did an adequate job of that. The problem is they entered my address wrong and we never got a bill. Keep in mind, they had my insurance info, phone numbers and socials, but they entered my address wrong by a digit.
Rather than looking at the address on my insurance card or calling any of the numbers listed, they just turned us over to a collection agency.
Wtf! Try picking up a phone before you insult me with this nonsense!
We would have to be at deaths door to do business with this lazy and insulting business again!

The staff was nice but not overly friendly. Didn’t see a single person wash their hands and no one put gloves on either.
No other patients were there but we still had to wait a little while before the doctor came in to see us. Made me pay 20% up front rather than just billing my insurance.
I am updating my review because I just received a followup call. I appreciate that they take the time to make sure their patients from the previous day are doing better. The no handwashing still bothers me which is why I’m not adjusting the star review.

1230am. No cars in lot. Waited 65 mins with screaming 2 year old with bad ear infection! Understaffed on the weekend? Literally saw 2 other patients in here!

From out of town and was having problems with my asthma and the nurse and doctor took care of me like I was their normal patient. No long wait and friendly as can be. Yes I do recommend this place to everyone. 5 star ER!

The staff at Physicians ER in Conroe was outstanding. I just left there after my son busted his head open on the side of our pool. 10 staples and a CAT scan later, I feel blessed to have this ER so close. Every staff member we came in contact with was extremely helpful and nice. We were called to the back within five minutes of arrival-​so unheard of these days! My son had a million questions for Dr. Schwechten while he was treating him and he answered every one of them with patience. If you must go to an ER, this is definitely the one to go to! Top Notch.

They run a good, clean facility here. It is so much better than going to Conroe Regional (which, frankly, is a bit of a zoo).
Service here is good.
We come here when someone in the family needs medical attention after hours or on weekends.
Beware — this place can be VERY expensive.

My son woke up in the middle of the night with croup, coughing and barking and couldn’ catch his breath. We came in Physicians ER at about 2:30 AM and were in an exam room within 5 minutes. The doctor was very pleasant and I felt that he was knowledgable and thorough. I would recommend to anyone who needs to see a doctor quickly for urgent care-​type needs.
