Love this place. I grew up on it and it’s still here, which is saying something! In recent years they have added Vietnamese dishes, sandwiches, and soups to their menu while maintaining the taste and quality of their standard Chinese dishes. They have some of the best soup and lo mein in the cities! Their prices are extremely reasonable, even for their seafood dishes. They have a lunch buffet what is very inexpensive and has all the staples. I always stop here for at least one meal when I’m in the area.

Nasty. Ordered the dinner combination. With pepper steak, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and egg roll. I also salt and pepper shrimp. Not ONE thing was good. Very disappointed. Waste of money

Kung Pao chicken was loaded with peanuts and the spice level was altered to my liking. Wife had Sweet and Sour chicken. Tasted good, but lacking in what she would say would be a decent amount of veggies. Amount of white rice included for two entrees was insufficient. Definitely coming back!

I walked in today with a friend, just passing it by down the street and it was a really good buffet! I really enjoyed it! Not a large selection but a detailed selection and great soup. Will be going agajn. Yum!

Not bad, but certainly not great. The egg rolls were a disappointment. The soup was decent, rice was average to slightly above average. I didn’t have the phở but I’ve heard it’s what makes the place. For Chinese food go across the street to the rose garden, much better!

I love their food. Taste is great. My favorites are any fried rice and the beef egg fo yong. Staff is courteous and willing to help. Great lunch buffet too.

This place is kind of a hole-in-the-wall place no one knows about. They’re always really busy when I come here though. They have $ 5.99 lunch buffet for a small station but it has everything you would’ve ordered through the menu anyway. That’s probably why it’s always packed during lunch. They offer a Vietnamese menu on top of their Chinese menu, which is great. I would recommend you try their phở and oyster sauce chicken wings. Now, I do have to admit, some of their menu items are better than others. There’s one person serving everyone the whole time so be nice to her and be patient. She’s really fast and really good at her job. She also has a lot of gray suggestions if you’re torn between choices our just don’t know what to get. Give this place a try!

Friendly staff, great home-cooked like meals, and excellent prices. They’ll remember you if you visit often enough. Suggestion #1: The Phở. Clean broth, great selection of Phở types and they even have fish sauce on the tables. I only eat Phở at places that have fish sauce on the table! Suggestion #2: Wonton Egg Noodle. Add a dollop of soy sauce to the broth(no lime) and some spice, bam. You have yourself a nom nom nom dish. I tend to get this dish to go as they don’t have red vinegar or sesame seed oil. That’s how I grew up eating this type of dish, but a little soy sauce and spice can still satisfy.

I actually really like this place. It was my first time dining here, and despite it look like a hole in the wall — the food ain’t too shabby. If I could recommend some food, definitely, try their Bun Bo Hue. It’s bomb. It has the perfect amount of spiciness, and the flavor is really deep(which a lot of places lack). Or the oyster chicken wings which is a definite favorite. Always crispy but smothered in black bean oyster goodness. This place is pretty inexpensive and even though the physical appeal is lacking — the food is definitely worthwhile to stop by.

Want phở and your car isn’t working? That’s the only reason I’d get phở here. Very bland and forgettable. The Chinese stuff was serviceable. If you’re up for a drive, try Phở Ca Dao in St. Paul. You will not believe it’s the same dish.

Was ok, our fried rice had a burnt taste and the egg Foo young was like water from the sprouts. The chicken Lo mein and wontons were really good, next time I would like to try the Phở, they have a huge selection.

Best phở outside of the cities! I was a little disappointed that a large, 2 meat phở would only come with a few slices of the beef. Needs a few more IMO. The flavor was perfect. Happy to find this place after a year of trying to get decent phở in the northern burbs. Will be back often! In addition, egg foo yung and shrimp wontons were pretty damn good also.

Duck phở was great. Friendly and fast service. Good value. Décor is not great but the place is neat.

When it comes to phở, I’m very hesitant to try it outside of the twin cities. With so many staple restaurants around there that get it right time and time again it’s hard to expand my horizons. Occasionally I’ll try a place that has great Unilocal reviews only to be disappointed. Either they had something different than I, or they have no clue what phở is supposeded to taste like. Marrying into a Vietnamese family and making my own(under direct super vision of the mother in law) I would say I’ve got it down to a science. But real phở takes hours to make properly and sometimes I just want to eat. So I decided to roll the dice with my two co-workers(one of which is Vietnamese and just as picky as I) and give this a try based on a few reviews of phở. Woooooooooooooow this place nails it. My co-worker was laughing because she said she almost never finished her phở unless it’s really good. I was about to burst because I somehow accidentally ordered the big bowl but was determined to finish it. The lunch buffet was small but looked very good for Chinese food… Definitely worth a try considering the $ 5.50 price point. I also had the banh mi(which I always pair with phở) but that was the worst I’ve ever had. Butter? Salt instead of soy sauce? No pâté? What in the world? 5 stars for my review still? You better believe it, this was definitively the best phở I’ve had in the state.

The buffet is hit or miss depending on your tastes. I personally enjoy the food they serve in the buffet but it’s not for everyone. Also it’s the by FAR the best buffet for $ 6. What IS for everyone is their ORANGECHICKEN! The BEST. GETIT! Overall I love this place and will come here as often as I can. Thanks to the staff and cooks!

The Phở is excellent. World class. No MSG! I couldn’t disagree with the guy from Brighton, CO more. I’ve had local Phở in L.A., NYC, and DC, as well as the Vietnamese market in Moscow. New Mandarin’s Phở, for under $ 20, is as good as anywhere. I won’t rave about their Chinese menu, but the Phở is unimpeachable. All I can guess is that those who don’t like it are used to eating MSG, instead of pure ingredients.

I saw«Phở» neon signs in the front windows and had to check it out, although I was a little skeptical because the place is called Mandarin. The Phở is excellent! The broth is delicious and the bowl comes with a generous amount of noodles and meat. In comparison with other restaurants in the region I believe this place has the best Phở. Meatballs, thinly sliced beef steak and beef roast, tripe, and the other goodies you would expect in a great Phở were all there and the price $ 7.99. I’ll definitely go back, the dining area is small and the hostess knows her customers. Truly a great local restaurant.

The reason we chose this place was do to the proximity to my moms house and we had just got off the plane from Denver and wanted to take my mom out for some phở and there were some decent reviews for this place. When pulling up to the place it was a little dirty(which I am not opposed to as places like this normally have good food). So I have had Phở many places around the states and this is one on the worst I have come across. Phở was very bland and nothing really to it. I had the combo phở and it was lacking in noodles and in meat content. My wife had the seafood phở and it didn’t taste any different which it should. Just a heads up! I normally do not like like to complain about phở because I know everywhere is different but this was pretty bad.

I hadn’t been in this neck of the woods since my teens. I ordered the Szechuan Chicken and after inquiring whether it was really spicy or not out server indicated that it can actually be made spicy as opposed to adapted to the local palate. guidance was provided that I actually wanted the warmth and they nailed it! the broccoli was done to perfection and the fried spring rolls were done to just that right level of sinfully delicious. if you must go to coon rapids, make sure to stop in.
