IL Triangolo Restaurant

Hands down… BEST Italian restaurant in New York!!! All I can say is that we wished we had known about this place sooner!!! Il Triangolo has become our favorite restaurant!!! Mario is a GREAT host who makes everyone feel welcome. The food is beyond outstanding! The magic that is created in the kitchen is masterful. Delicious and mouthwatering. It’s a small, cozy restaurant with a «family» atmosphere. So happy we found Il Triangolo and will now be sharing it with our friends and family!

This was truly a great meal and experience.
The service was great and the food was even better.
When you sit down you are greeted with warm fresh made bread and a delicious olive spread.
I could have left satisfied if I only had the bread and olive spread.
We got a carafe of the homemade wine. It is a blend and a tad on the sweeter side BUT very good. I love anything that is homemade. I feel a lot of restaurants have lost this touch. Not here. They take pride in everything that comes out of the kitchen. It is obvious in the quality, presentation and taste.
First Course:
Baked Clams —
Simple and made to perfection
Mussel special (sauce based broth and house made sausage) —
This was great. I couldn’t get enough of the broth. The fresh bread ensured that by the time we finished the dish there was no broth left.
Main Course:
Gnocchi special with bolognese sauce–
The Gnocchi were pillowy soft and fluffy. The sauce stands out. It is really a great red sauce.
Chicken special (stuffed with mushrooms, spinach and cheese) —
Very good and the sauce it came with was perfectly complimented with a little balsamic.
Chicken Frangelico–
A signature dish that was amazing. I almost asked for them to leave the almonds off but I went with it and boy am I glad. The sauce was amazing, the chicken was perfectly cooked and the almonds gave a nice contrast with the sauce and chicken.
Dessert:
Homemade Italian cheesecake–
Fluffy and Delicious. I don’t normally love Italian cheesecake but I loved this one. They put some strawberries on top and that added a little sweetness.
Amazing meal, service and experience.
We actually enjoyed the no cell phone policy. It was relaxing to not think about touching my phone.

It’s was my first time eating here, but definitely won’t be the last. Everything on the menu is freshly made on premise and you can tell right away right after your first bite. It is a small intimate place, with a nice décor, very tastefully done. The staff is extremely attentive and make you feel welcome to be there. The food is unbelievable good, with fast service but never rushed. The prices for everything is very good expected to pay much more then I did. I would like to thank Mario & staff for a excellent evening and enjoyable Birthday.

Best Italian overall hands down when t comes to the atmosphere, value, quality of food and service— you can sense the passion and love that the owner puts into this place the moment you step through the door. So much attention is put into this place, everything from the flowers on the table (freshly cut by Mario) to the way he and the staff conducts themselves and explains the menu.
Here, they let the ingredients speak for themselves– simply cooked and clean in taste.
Believe me when I say that everything here is on point and out of this world delicious.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant I’ve been too. The menu is fantastic, the portions are plentiful, and the staff is welcoming and warm. Mario does a fantastic job and even remembered me after coming back a year after my first visit. Each time I’m in NYC I plan on visiting Il Triangolo. I’ve had the veal, the gnocchi, and tortellini and all were fantastic. The dessert was stellar, and I love the cannoli and homemade biscotti.
I have yet to try everything on the expansive menu, but I look forward to trying something new each time I visit. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It’s worth the walk, drive, etc. to get here for anyone in the NYC area or anyone visiting.
This is what authentic Italian is all about. A great atmosphere and great food. My first visit here I had luggage in hand and was not dressed great for such a nice restaurant, yet Mario and his staff treated me like one of the family. My most recent trip with my Dad was no different, as we were treated extremely well.
Everyone needs to eat here, once you do, you will not at any other Italian restaurant again. I’m very picky with Italian food and found a place where I have zero complaints.

Came here last night with a party of 7 and had a wonderful time. Atmosphere, service and food were all spectacular.
Food: homemade pasta– need I say more? They have a generous number of pasta dishes and the waiter said we can mix and match pastas and sauces (which I ended up doing). It’s nice he let us know that because at fancy restaurants people tend not to do that as it may offend the chef.
We got a few apps too– they were all great. My favorite being the baked clams. The clams were so tender and not chewy/​overcooked which I feel like happens easily w baked clams.
Desserts were also phenomenal! They have a different dessert menu everyday (that they recite) as they are made fresh every day. They were all great but I have to point out the cannoli. Probably the best I’ve ever had. Made with fresh ricotta, it was so creamy and not overly sweet. Exactly how all cannolis should be.
A few other food things to point out:
–homemade bread was great, but no olive spread or olive oil (guess they only do this sometimes?)
–they gave us complimentary chicken meatballs to start which was so kind. I don’t eat chicken,
but everyone liked them and I tried the sauce which was very classic and flavorful.
Drinks: beer and wine only. They have homemade wine which is super cool and adds to the whole rustic Italian feel.
Service/​ambiance: the place has such a nice old school Italian vibe that is clean and not overly done. Wood paneled walls, red/​white checkered napkins in bread baskets etc.
the service was also superb. This place clearly prides themselves in making sure guests are taken care of and have a great experience.
Other:
–I read on their Unilocal they have a no children (under 13) policy on Fri/​sat nights (LOL!). To be honest there nothing worse than a bratty kid ruining your otherwise perfect dining experience so I totally give them props on this.
–the cell phone thing wasn’t as nuts as some people made it out to be on Unilocal.You can still take pics and honesty being on your phone when you’re at a meal is totally rude so again, props to them for delivering the realness
All in all a total 5 star experience

I just love this place. I live in the area and trust me, this is a must go.
Clean, homemade wine (a must have), amazing food and friendly, professional service.
One thing, avoid to use the phone. No phones are allowed in the table.

Completely impressed by this little jewel of a restaurant. Mario poured the homemade wine freely, the entrees and stuffed zucchini appetizer were fabulous. The $$ — you can’t beat. My new go to spot.

This Italian restaurant is amazing! The service here is out of this world. They were able to accommodate us when we called in 2 hours before asking for a table (on a Saturday night). When we got there we were greeted by the nice doorman and seated immediately. They took our coats and then Mario came, introduced himself and explained the specials of the night. He was very nice and welcoming. He seemed very busy walking around getting to know all the customers, which is great!
They started us with a basket of their homemade bread which was great! Crisp exterior with a nice fluffy inside. Also gave us their chicken meatball with marinara sauce which I thought was very good but my date thought was a little salty but good nonetheless.
We started off the night with their fried calimari which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which I love. Also got the bruschetta which was recommended and I did not regret it at all. The mozzarella cheese was so fresh it could’ve been made right then and there. Topped with a couple nice tomatoes on top of the aforementioned amazing bread.
For my entrée I got their homemade ginocchi with the marinara sauce. The fluffiest ginocchi I’ve ever had in my life and it was phenomenal.
The interior of the restaurant was a very small area but the décor definitely had a very old school Italian vibe to it which was very nice. I would definitely recommend making reservations before coming. Don’t sleep on this place!

Many things really irked me about this place.
THE FOOD: Pasta was not al-​dente. It was overcooked and way too salty.
THE SERVICE: The doorman/​owner of the joint greeted us very sarcastically. Seated us and demanded that coat check was mandatory. Once we sat down, he proceeded to give us a 10 minute speech, of which 7 of the minutes consisted of letting us know his «no cell phone» policy… the only exception of which is to take photos of the food to help his business. Throughout our meal, he would remind us about the no cell-​phone rule which was annoying (even when we weren’t even using our phones).
We were told about the specials of the night, but NO PRICES were indicated during this process. Since they were the specials, we thought they’d be at least the same price of the menu items, if not cheaper. Two people in our party ordered the veal special, which turned out to be $ 42 each… meanwhile very similar veal dishes on the menu were for $ 20. I mean, yes, I guess we could have asked… but I think it’s basic service to provide pricing information when trying to sell your customers on the specials.
Tons of good Italian food in NYC… I’m not trying to go somewhere where the owner is extremely rude and verbally punching the people trying to give him $$$$. I’d say go somewhere else.

This may be, one of the cleanest restaurants I have ever been in. It’s kept immaculately clean — not too surprising as this tucked away restaurant has some rules. Absolutely no mobile phones on the table, unless you’re taking a picture. I may have slipped up once.
The bread they give you with the sun dried tomato to dip is awesome. Came here for brother’s birthday so we did the full menu run that night.
The dishes that really caught my attention for antipasti.
Carpaccio di Manzo — Excellent, the beef was razor thin with a light drizzle of oil. The arugula and parmigana was portioned just right.
Burrata with grilled peach, truffle, prosciutto and vinaigrette — This was a special but was just fantastic. The burrata was so soft, it melted in your mouth with the peach and the vinaigrette sauce. Ask if they have it!
For entrees.
Homemade Triangoini Ubriaco — This is very tasty but it is rich, more of a cream-​based sauce.
Homemade Fettuccine alla Triangolo — Think of a alfredo/​carbonara type of dish but executed much better. Very comforting type of dish.
Pollo Frangelico — The chicken breast was very juicy, the herbs brought together this savory concoction of a chicken dish. Bacon always helps and the toasted almonds gave a nice texture.
Scallopine di Maile — This is a large piece of meat. Kind of a cross between a pork chop parmigiana for me but with less sauce. Definitely unique, never had this anywhere else before.
It’s located very close to Park Side and although I am a loyalist over there, Il Triangolo is another great place to chow down in Corona.

It is a shame that a place with such good food had such bad service as soon as you step in the door. We were greeted by a staff member who was extremely rude and loud when telling us that no cell phones were allowed on the tables and that coat check was mandatory. Even when asked if a wallet could be placed on a far corner of the table we were met with a lot of sarcasm. All of this happened even without any of us using our phones at all. We stayed because there wasn’t much else around the vicinity. There was a guy who was actually talking on his phone and walking around the room and was not told anything. We had been here previously a few years ago and had had a good time but this time it was awful.
Things did get better later on but the whole evening was already ruined. On one hand the house wine was very bad, on the other hand the food was good. I wish we had been approached by the manager or owner to apologize for the bad behavior of that staff member but it never happened. Even the waiter seemed very uninterested until the moment to pay the bill came around.
I don’t think I’ll go back again.

PARKSIDE whattt???
This place blows Parkside out the water. I mean its not even comparable, that’s how good Il Triangolo is! I first visted this place about 3 months ago. I have to admit that once finding out their cellphone policy I was like «OH HELL NO!» But now that I think about it, every restaurant should implement such policy!
Okay okay about their food. THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD in Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, Long Island, Brooklyn. Get it? That is how freaking good it is. Everything is home made (pasta, sauce, bread even organic freaking wine!) Mario (the owner) is there all the time (thats how you know its the real deal), he is polite, cordial and is very attentive. He personally comes to each and every table to greet you and to tell you of the daily specials. I don’t even want to list the items that I’ve ordered because they are all so good. You really can’t go wrong. Order it all!
Our family came here last night for Thanksgiving dinner and we were blown away. Mario bought his poultry fresh (turkey was running around with his homies in the morning, on my plate in the evening). The turkey was prepared rollatini style and stuffed with all its glory. The dish came with sweet potato, mashed potato and sauteed brussel sprouts. So GOODDDD!
All of the deserts offered are self baked by Mario’s talented wife! All worth trying.
I just went there last night and I can’t wait to go back!

We heard a lot of great things about this place so we finally had a chance to try it. We had all their Specials of the night and it was amazing especially their scallops and squid ink rice. Very flavorful! Mario, who’s the owner of the place was very professional, kind and attentive. We love the fact he takes pride in his customer service. We would definitely go back there again.

Just wow… wanted Italian food in Queens and went to go check out this restaurant. Let’s just say I will never make that mistake again. If I could give less than 1 star I’d pay to do that.
I went around lunch time to check this place out. This restaurant located in the middle of Corona looked fancy on the outside, but right when you get to the entrance… there is all these ratchet signs of absolutely no cellphones allowed. Which is fine and all but let’s get real… it is 2015. Get with the times.
When we went into the restaurant it was absolutely dead. There was no one there and no one at the hostess stand. I stood there for about 10 minutes before I was rudely asked to leave. The hostess shoo’d me away because of my sneakers. Who knew there would be such a strict dress code during lunch time? The hostess and one of the waiters looked at me like disgust. I asked them if it was ok if I can just have a seat and dine at this restaurant after seeing the amazing reviews on their food. They disrespected me saying to leave and never come back. The waiter said «we do not serve people who look like you.» … I’ve never had such a bad experience as this before in my entire life.
Once I left the restaurant, I called and asked for the manager. Whoever was on the phone seemed hesitant to give the phone to the manager. Not only was the staff rude, they give you a problem when you ask to speak to the manager… Once on the phone with the manager I kindly addressed the rudeness of his staff and he went berserk. The manager/​owner backed up the bad attitude of his staff and refused to take any advice on how to better his business.
Now I know where the staff gets their attitudes.
Highly do not recommend coming here.

I really would rate this 4 ½ stars, but I am rounding this up to five stars. I went to Il Triangolo to celebrate my birthday, and I was treated with excellent hospitality. The owner of the restaurant, Mario, came out and greeted the table and made sure we were properly waited on. The service at the restaurant is definitely five stars. Additionally, the wait staff made sure our coats were hung up, which I felt was a classy policy. I was intrigued by the no cell phone policy, but overall it made for a better dining experience. Instead of texting, we were all actually talking to each other.
Now onto the food. The starter of the fresh baked bread was awesome. The bread was light and fluffy and super delicious. The olive-​sun dried tomato spread was yummy, as was the olive oil option. We then ordered appetizers of hot antipasto and a Mediterranean salad. Both were very tasty/​delicious, but I thought the hot antipasto appetizer was a bit small. For entrees, we ordered a chicken frangelico, chicken parmigiango, veal pizziola, veal piccata, a special lamb chop rollatini entrée over basil mashed potatoes, and chicken ala vodka. We also had a side of spinach and broccoli rabe. All had a side of pasta. The chicken frangelico was probably the best entrée and deserves five stars. It was very flavorful, and each bite was a surprise. The chicken parmigiano was a well made chicken parm, but at the end of the day it was chicken parm. The veal piccata was a mixed bag; some pieces were very tender, some were more tough. The lamb entrée was delicious, but there was very little meat on the bone. The basil pesto mashed potatoes were awesome. I did not try the veal pizziola or chicken ala vodka, but both plates were finished and enjoyed. Overall, the entrees and appetizers were four stars, because the lamb entrée was disappointing but everything else was good, or in the case of the chicken frangelico, great.
For dessert, we had carrot cake, crème brûlée, a cannoli, and tiramisu. All were awesome; I thought the cannoli was one of the best I ever had in my life, honestly. Desserts were 4 ½ stars; they were all totally delicious, but not also innovative plate revelations.
Overall I give this four and a half stars, rounding up to five stars. The four and a half star rating on Unilocal is well deserved. The chicken frangelico was a delicious innovative plate revelation, and I would highly recommend eating this dish. And the service is top notch. Be prepared to not look at your cell phone during the meal; I don’t think that is a bad thing!

Took my boyfriend here on a date. We live in Corona and always pass by here. So I finally made it a point to go. This place is definitely a hidden gem on Junction blvd. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The owner introduced himself to us immediately and told us the specials. Everything is house made & the meats were fresh. Definitely a cute, romantic little spot to come on a date. The décor is nice & although it is small; the place gives you a welcoming feeling. I ordered the arugula w fennel &pear salad for starters and my bf ordered the calamari. Both were amazing! For entrees we ordered the pork chops (for the bf) & spaghetti puttanesca. Both were delicious & huge portions. My boyfriend ate half of his pork chop! It was gigantic. He’s also a wine-​o & they have this 3 mix wine that was delicious. We ordered the half carafe. All in all the place isn’t ridiculously cheap but very affordable for a night out. I spent about $ 100 on my boo and that includes tip!
Be forewarned — there’s a cardboard sign outside that specifically forbids cell phones. We got away w taking pictures of our food but that’s about it. I kind of like that old school mentality! Made us have great conversation! Also this is a spot that all the old school people in corona go too. No one you’ll know but def your grandma comes her w her man on the low low lol!

If there was a way to give this place 0 stars I would. This is literally the worst service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. The door man shoo-​ed me and my friend away for wearing shorts. Which is fine a policy is a policy. However he looked at us like we were as disgusting as a fly and pointed us out the door immediately. No apology or courtesy whatsoever.
After calling back the restaurant to notify the manager of his rude employee. The hostess was rude in directing my call to the manager and the manager was just as rude as if they had superiority complex for working in a restaurant that was COMPLETELY DEAD at 6pm.
So glad they didnt get to have my business.

My family and I are on our way from San Diego to Italy and had a 5 hour lay over in New York so we decided to Unilocal some restaurants in Queens and we found this wonderful place. Mario and his wife where charming and warm.
We started with Calamari and Salad– my kids had spaghetti & meatballs and fetucunni alfredo. My wife had angel hair pasta with shrimp and I had the special.
Our desserts where also amazing.
The next time we have a layover at JFK we will come back and visit this gem of a resturant.

Call ahead to make reservations, and when you show up on time, turn your cell phones off and put them away, because Mario is not havin’ any of that at his establishment!
Do as he says because he’s about to make your life a lot more delicious.
We were fortunate enough to catch the soft shell crab special, which is sauteed with olive oil and lemon. It’s divine. Also enjoyed were the namesake Homemade Triangolini Ubriaco Signature Dish and my go-​to, the Homemade CavateIIi broccoli rabe, sausage and cherry tomatoes. The Triangolini sauce is creamy and complex, the cavatelli is perfect for those of us who love hearty pasta.
Although we were sufficiently stuffed from our meal, we couldn’t pass up their housemade dessert menu. We ultimately shared a tiramisu — no regrets.
Also, make sure you’re not wearing shorts, flip flops, or sandals, gentlemen, you’re here to have a proper dinner — Mario.
