Got a sailing deal from Loews hotel for me and my wife’s 1 year anniversary. Tom was our captain and he was great. Since it was just us 3, we talked to him a lot about sailing and various other things. He is awesome and sailing was a relaxed yet fun experience.

Action Sports Rentals is located within Loew’s. They have kayaks, power boats, sailboats, paddleboards, bikes, etc. I have experience with renting a kayak and a medium-sized boat through them. — The employees here are friendly, and genuinely want to help. I highly recommend giving them a call before going there in person to rent something, because they will give you honest answers to your questions. I gave them a call when I couldn’t decide whether my two friends and I should rent a certain boat we were eyeing, or another one that was nicer but pricier. The gentleman I spoke with said that the nicer one is lower and so passengers will get wet while they’re riding, and that some customers do not like that. That was the deciding factor for us, and we went with the cheaper, older boat. I really appreciated him being honest about the feedback they have gotten from other customers to ensure that we would be happy with our decision, even if it meant that they’d be getting less money. — Their rental rates are very reasonable. — They are very laid back about everything, which is refreshing. I have rented boats in other cities where they had strict policies about EVERYTHING that by the time the lecture was over, I wasn’t as excited for the experience as I was initially. Here, I feel like they trust the customers to make the right decisions, and that’s always nice. — I am fairly positive that parking at Loew’s has gone up by $ 2/hour this summer. It will now cost you $ 8/hr to park, which adds up. Luckily, if you rent something through ASR, your parking will be validated. SO, I suggest you rent something here with some friends, and then lounge by the Loew’s pool afterwards :) — They will show you a map of the surrounding area and suggest some cool spots you can check out. They will also let you know the approximate amount of time it takes to get to a certain spot and back, so you can plan your experience around that. It is especially helpful if you are adamant about the amount of hours you want to be renting. — You are allowed to bring food and drinks on the boat! Be prepared and bring a cooler(and ice) with you if you are going to bring drinks that you want to keep cool. Also don’t forget to bring towels if you plan on jumping in the water! — I highly recommend this rental company!

This is part of the Action Sports Rental team and I haven’t experienced the other sites, but can I attest to how awesome this one is! Below is a list of some of the things I remember. Pros: 1. The company only has you book for 1 hour and then you are prorated for each additional hour, so if you decide that you hate it after 1 hour… no need to worry, just return the boat. Lots of other companies said you needed to make a 3 hour reservation, so these guys were the most flexible. 2. The views you get from the city and the bridge are beautiful! It was awesome being able to take the boat out as far was we did 3. They give you lots of detailed instructions on how to navigate the boat before you go out. It felt VERY safe… initially I was somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of information they gave us, but if you ignore half of it and just keep in mind it is like driving a car and where the big landmarks are… you will be fine! Cons: 1. Parking at Loew’s is EXPENSIVE — $ 25/day. But when you book with this company, your parking is validated and you end up not spending $ 25…I think it was $ 11 for the whole day. Overall, it was a great experience. We brought our own food and drinks, it was like having a picnic with your friends in the middle of the bay and getting to go wherever you wanted to get views of San Diego. Also, I usually get VERY sea sick… but for some reason I didn’t on the little boat we rented. I would definitely come by again to do this, it was a lot of fun!
