The customer service here is EXCELLENT! They help you look for what you need and also reimburse you for the most fair price (way better than the way over-​priced OCC bookstore). I had emailed them stating that I thought a CRN was wrong on the website for a particular class… I then was advised that my info was correct and to come in to purchase the book for an additional discount! What excellent service? That was a bonus/​surprise! I’ve also walked in before and they are nothing but pleasant. Thank you Fairview Textbook for making the lives of students better. :)

Not sure why people complain so much. All the textbooks I’ve bought from this store was pretty reasonable in price, and even available for rent throughout the entire semester.
I purchased a math book for a semester, and sold it back to them and was refunded almost half of the price I bought it. Sounds good to me. Also, the owner (I think) is quite helpful, and really nice. He helps me find my books, and I never feel rushed. He even recommends me to not buy a certain book yet because he received an email from all English professors that they may change the book at the beginning of the semester, so that he can save me time and money.
He also extended my rent for a textbook without charge. I always come here for books, and even though some books are raggedy and written on, it still has all the pages, and easy to read. I recommend this place for OCC students for sure!

This place is such a scam. I seriously do not recommend you to come here unless it’s an emergency. They sold me a book that was way overpriced, and the guy that sold it to me told me that he’ll buy it back later, however, when I came back to resell the book, they denied me saying, «oh we’re currently not accepting this book at the moment» When I just bought it like about 5 weeks prior. It was still brand new. I barely even used it, but I had to buy it because of my teacher’s requirement.
Go on amazon or other website. Or better yet, google it. You might find all the material on there.
Would not go back! I advise you to stay away too, unless you don’t mind getting ripped off.

This was my local go-​to spot for Orange Coast College textbooks for 3 years! Thanks to José. Textbooks that are required @ Orange Coast College will most likely be available here WITH better prices guaranteed. Can’t find a certain textbook, José will definitely help you out!
Up-​To-​Date Textbooks are available, but Used/​Rental Textbooks are also available for certain subjects. Instead of returning your textbooks mid-​semester, rent it the WHOLE semester for a lower cost; then easily return your textbook AFTER finals week. Procrastinators: Return date is 2 WEEKS after finals week, so there’s time!
Sell textbooks that you will no longer be using at this location; you will receive a slight higher percentage for selling your textbook here rather than @ the Orange Coast College bookstore!

Back when I didn’t have a car, I purchased an economics book from them with an access code. However, the access code did not work. I went back and asked for a refund and they told me I needed to contact McGraw and verify when the code was used before my purchase date in order for me to get a refund. Why the hell is that my responsibility and not yours?
I needed a code for my homework, but could not afford to buy a new one. And because of this, I had to drop the class.
It took some time for McGraw to respond to my emails. I had to go back to the store a third time. Again, having no car and having to bus was a great inconvenience for me because I lived so far.
I showed proof that the access code was used a year before I had purchased my book from them.
They didn’t even give me a full refund because of the time frame.
Very unprofessional.
I never came back.
Do yourself a favor & buy your books online or at the school’s bookstore instead.

Way back when the internet was still new and there was no Unilocal,I made the mistake of buying a book here based on the incorrect info posted in store that the book was required for a class. When I came back the next day, and tried to explain that I bought the book due to the incorrect info they had listed, the guy was unsympathetic and told me no refunds, so I was stuck with an $ 80 useless book. I did buy books here before because it was a little cheaper than the OCC bookstore.
But my tip to other students if they want to save money on text books is to skip the middle man, and goto your school’s online forum, and sell and buy your books directly to and from other students. Just use common sense when meeting up to sell/​buy your books. This way, not only do you get a lower price when buying, but also get a much higher price when selling compared to what this store would pay you.

Came here to purchase a couple of books for my class. They did have one of the books for about $ 10.00 cheaper than the OCC bookstore. Sadly the did not have the second book I needed. Staff was friendly and helpful.

If you need books go here the manager (at least I think he is) is amazing he’s so helpful and friendly and it’s way cheaper than the bookstore on campus!!! Will continue to recommend and to purchase and resell my books here!

Never getting a textbook from this place again. Got a book during middle of the second week, in need of access code. Specifically asked the owner if I could return it if it didn’t work. Turns out, it didn’t work and wasn’t allowed to return it, even after explaining that the code didn’t work in which case, the textbook was invaluable to me. Won’t be coming back, needless to say.

Welcomed when I came in and the employee Roberto I believe helped me in many ways to rent a book from here. They had my book which was half the price than Chegg. Definitely be coming here from now on for my books. Its seems the other people who gave this place a bad comment just wanted everything handed to them but that’s not how the world works salty people!

I refrained from buying my botany textbook online because I wanted to see if I could get it cheaper here. It was priced at half as much as the OCC bookstore. They were out of stock however the guy said that they had one more copy coming in an that he would reserve it for me. He even took down my number and said he would call me when it came in. Lucky me, right? Wrong.
A day goes by and I don’t hear back from them so I call the store and it turns out they got «busy» and sold it to someone else. The manager said they have a policy of not doing reserves in case people don’t come back. Maybe inform your employees of this? They guy who said he would reserve it has been there almost every time That I have.
I think I will just buy my books online from now on.

Their prices are about $ 5 – 20 less than the OCC bookstore most of the time. In my experience, they are always very nice and go out of their way to be helpful. They also have a website where you can get an idea of their prices before you go. I’ve never tried to sell a book back though.

I try so hard to give this store business, I go out of my way to drive down there and buy books for a higher price than what I can find online even though I have prime.
I tried calling today (10-​18-​2013) at 10:30 am 11 am and 11:40 am No one picks up the phone… is it a huge request to know if you have something in stock before I drove down there? instead I kept getting this voicemail that sounded like it was recorded by a 3 year old.
I tried calling their other store… no one picks up (their voice mail isn’t even set up)
So I decided to drive down because I need this material to pass my class. I drive up and the guy there is unhappy that I interrupted his meal that he was having on the front counter.
I asked him why they don’t answer the phone? and that I tried calling 3 times, he said that he might have been on his lunch… then what the f*ck are you doing right now? you get paid to eat on the front counter? (it was about 12:30pm at the time)
Not a surprise, he didn’t have it in stock anymore… (I had a hard time believing him honestly, I think he was too lazy and wanted to get back to eating asap)
I was so disgusted that I left immediately, I knew prime could get that same material here by Monday.
Well fairview textbook… this is the last time you put a sour taste in my mouth. You have been deemed a complete waste of time and I am severing my relationship with you.

Great that I got a math book and solutions manual under $ 100, not great that I got rushed out after inquiring about selling it back. What place doesn’t buy back a textbook even when it’s one edition old? A math person can use it for reference for god’s sake. And I didn’t even get a chance to talk to the guy. All I did was walk in and, «Hi, oh actually that book you’re holding has a new edition so we are not buying it back. Sorry.» The one star goes for the cheap prices but the customer service not so much. Should have left my car running if it was going to be that quick. Don’t count on the service — its inconsistent. Don’t ever count on the buyback either. I’ll try the OCC bookstore instead.

Great place to get books! Come here before going to your school bookstore! Employees are helpful! Save time and give them a call.

The place has it: the service, books, and prices. From the first moment I stepped in I was greeted kindly and asked if I needed assistance. And what I love about this place is the service is quick, I get what I need and get out. Compared to other shops I’d go look for books the prices here were lower too so hey, I was satisfied. I know I’m going to keep coming back for books here.

I guess the service here depends on the mood of the employees; sometimes I get a great big welcoming, and sometimes none at all. Don’t ever expect the older-​guy owner to greet you, he always works the buyback window. He has some pretty good employees though, most of them are other college students.
You can find a pretty good selection of text books here, chances are they will have it. The size of this place is definitely smaller than OCC bookstore, but they probably just don’t have the tiny obscure classes available.
Most prices between here and the OCC bookstore are going to be +/​-​$ 5.00. For college students, this is a gallon and a half of 87 octane gas! Go ahead and call them while you’re at OCC bookstore to compare prices, they’ll be glad to do it for you (just make sure you have your ISBN ready).

For me, being polite and courteous is important. When I walked in, I did not receive a smile or a warming salutation. No one even bothered to asked if I needed anything, so I walked up to the section of the class I needed the book for. I promptly found it and went to the cashier to pay for it.
I paid for my book with my credit card and she didn’t even bother asking for ID, then flatly told me that all sales are final. No thank you, or even an option for a bag.
This is the first and last time I’m ever going there. I’d rather buy my books off of amazon or worse… the OCC bookstore then go here again. If they don’t want my business, that’s fine by me.

I’m convinced that these guys are in cahoots with OCC and they have teachers send students here to get «cheaper» pricing on textbooks. The store is nondescript; it’s just a square room blanketed with stacks of books and shelving. Their prices are marginally better than the used book prices at OCC, but they don’t even come CLOSE to the kinds of deals you can get off Amazon of craigslist. If you want a real deal, buy your book online.

Located near the southwest corner of Baker and Fairview in a strip mall, this store is strictly organized stacks of books associated to the classes you can take at OCC. My son saved a whopping $ 7 on a new textbook for a computer class that was priced ridiculously high to begin with.
If you have the patience and need to save a buck, order online. If you cannot find it anywhere else, then come here.
