Insight Vision Center Optometry

Dr. Mai is truly such a sweet and knowledgeable optometrist. You can tell how much he cares for his patients by the way he interacts with them.
Scheduling an appointment and filling out forms was very straightforward and efficient. Everything can be done online which minimizes any waiting time at the office. What’s amazing about Insight Vision Center is that on top of the standard eye exam, they also offer ortho-​k which are specialty contact lenses you sleep in that give you clear vision during the day. They also provide vision therapy, which reaps all sorts of benefits.
If you’re looking for friendly doctors who are passionate about what they do — Dr. Mai and Dr. Lam are the ones to go to. Highly recommended!

I’ve been with quite a few optometrists across the years, but Dr. Mai has been extremely helpful. He’s down to earth, very knowledgeable, and you can plainly tell that patients come first.
I’ve personally been fit with ortho-​K and I’ve been loving my vision. My vision is clear, I don’t have to deal with contacts throughout the waking hours, and most importantly, there’s no lasers involved like with LASIK!
The rest of the staff is very accommodating as well. I have only met Dr. Lam in passing, but she seems very sweet as well.

Really a great place to get your eyes checked. It’s a very modern office set-​up and feels very inviting. They do a really good job at giving a very thorough vision wellness exam. In addition to doing glasses and contact lenses, they also specialize in ortho K (nearsighted prescription control) and vision therapy. Both the doctors, Dr. Mai and Dr. Lam are genuine and willing to help with whatever eye problems that you may have. Definitely would recommend it to anyone in the area.

What a wonderful visit I had with the staff at Insight! They squeezed me in on a busy Saturday and stayed open late to make sure I got everything I needed. I also learned more about my eyes and vision than any other previous doctor had cared to explain! Thank you so much for the great service and friendly approach!!!

Came to Insight Vision Center for my overdue eye exam. Scheduling was very easy online. The staff is incredibly welcoming and great. My eye exam was with Dr. Mai who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions. It was also fun to pick out a new pair of glasses that looked much better than my old pair.
The prescription and extras I ordered came out perfect, (transitions, anti blue light for frequent computer work, etc) and they were able to accept my insurance, so it was all very affordable too. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for an eye center to go to Insight Vision Center.

Loved this place! They we welcoming and friendly and some fun eye tests. Made me enjoy the time I had to take out of my day to get my eyes checked. The doctor was really knowledgeable and recommended dailies as my eyes have been bothered by allergens and over wearing my lenses. Plus they sent me the sweetest note! (And never asked for a Unilocal review).
So grateful to have found this place and looking forward to seeing them next year!

Looked around in Unilocal for a decent place to have me and my wife’s eyes checked and found this place with very positive reviews.
The 5 star rating for this place holds true! Dr. Mai is very nice and answered all my questions. We even had my 6 month old daughter have her eyes checked.
I liked that they have a complete lounge for kids of all ages to hang around in. So many toys that kept my daughter busy whule we waited.
I’ll be coming back again with my family in the future.

I found out about this office through a referral from a coworker and I only have good things to say about it. It’s so helpful that the office is close to where I work and they close at 7:00pm on Monday — Thursday, so I can go after work. Calling in and scheduling was extremely fast and simple and rescheduling was just as easy.
The interior of the office is organized very well and feels very spacious. I personally think the inside looks very chic because of how well the minimum amount of furniture and furnishings are used to decorate the rooms, and because of how all of the displays of glasses are organized in such a way that really stand out and give style to the lobby.
On my initial visit, I was helped out by Mimi and Dr. Lam who are both very welcoming and pleasant to speak to. Mimi did a great job of walking me through the initial eye exams, having done so while juggling a conversation with me. Dr. Lam was equally wonderful to speak with conversationally and more importantly, very informative about my test results and what they meant. The tests and equipment that were used felt very modern and up-​to-​date and the exams definitely felt more interesting than like a chore.
I also took the time to pick out my first pair of glasses there and both Mimi and Dr. Lam were very patient and accommodating. Mimi helped pick out a couple of frames that she thought suited my tastes and both her and Dr. Lam kindly offered their opinion on which style they thought looked nice. I got to briefly meet the other staff such as Dr. Mai when I went to pick up my glasses and he was just as nice.
Overall, this is an office in which you can really tell that the staff and especially the doctors are really passionate about their work and who really care about their staff on an individual basis. I definitely recommend this office to anyone else who needs to visit an optometrist.

I came in through a referral, and I’m glad I did. Dr. Mai is a pretty down to earth guy, and was extremely helpful in helping me finding the right pair of glasses. He personally helped select the new styles that fit the contour of my face, and from there I was able to pick a pair that I liked best.
They have a wide array of new glasses, so go check out their collection! Since they’re fairly new, they’ll give you a good price to get the word out.
I highly recommend both Dr Mai and Dr Lam to anyone who needs an optometrist, or shopping for some new lenses.

I came in again in December to get new glasses and use up my year-​end vision insurance. Great experience!
Usually I hate the part where they blow air on your eyeballs (maybe to test the pressure?) but Dr. Mai had a newer gadget that was way more comfortable … just a light feathery touch. He also has great bedside manner and answered my questions about my dry eyes.
The best part was picking out the glasses — they do a «concierge service» in order to style you. I was able to quickly find what frames where best for me after he determined my face shape. Plus, it’s cool that he handpicks the brands and offers some really cool, non-​mainstream ones. I ended up getting a pair of lightweight, techy ones that apparently all the engineers love (no screws, only hinge technology, pretty cool).

One of the first things I noticed about this office is how innovative they are in their practice. You can just watch their intro video on their website to get a sense of it. It seems to me that they are adopting new (new to me, at least) technology in their work with their patients. I also love how cozy and welcoming each room in the center is.
I started my check-​up appointment with Jaime, followed by the eye exam with Dr. Lam. Both were super helpful and willing to answer any questions I came up with.
Even though I didn’t really NEED to, I decided to look for new glasses after my eye exam. Jaime did all the work — I didn’t even have to get out of my seat! I tried on various frames that he brought to me, and ended up ordering a new pair of glasses that I’m now really liking. :)
From start to finish, my experience with Insight Vision Center was great!

I attended their grand opening celebration and was thrilled to see how much thought they put into the layout of their office!
I’m excited about their expertise in Ortho-​K and planning on saving up my work’s FSA to have Dr. Mai take care of my eyes.

After many years of navigating the crowded freeways of Southern California on a motorcycle, I have a message for all of you: GET YOUR EYES CHECKED!!!
And do it at Insight vision :) These guys have a great state of the art facility with great equipment and, more importantly, great service. Dr. Mai is phenomenal, as is the rest of the staff. They don’t even have that air puffing torture device that makes your eyes water… now there’s a much less irritating way of doing whatever test that thing performs.
On a serious note, Dr. Mai and his staff gave me top shelf service at a great price. Do yourself a solid and go make an appointment! And keep your eyes open for motorcyclists… we just want to stay out of your way! :P

I had put off going to the optometrist for years. I never went while growing up, and my eyes were «fine» so why go right? Alright, I also didn’t go because I hate things in my eye. You know that episode of Friends where Rachel goes to the eye doctor? That would be me.
When I finally decided it was time to get my eyes checked out, I of course turned to Unilocal and found Insight Vision Center. I liked that they were a small office with great reviews and figured they could give their patients better attention and service if they weren’t huge. Making an appointment was really easy over the phone. Jaime helped me book an appointment and had me fill out my new patient forms online, so that we didn’t have to go through that when I got there. The place can be hard to find but if you read their directions on the website, it gives you very specific instructions so be sure to take a look.
The whole exam was actually really pleasant. Jaime and Dr. Mai explained everything as they went along so that relieved some of my anxiety haha. They don’t do the glaucoma test with the horrible air puff thing here so that alone is a big relief to me haha. I did appreciate that they were so receptive to any questions I had. I think it’s pretty important to be able to ask questions without worrying that you’ll come off as ignorant.
After the exam came the frame-​choosing part which was actually pretty fun. It was like having a personal shopper really. Jaime, with the help of some very nice interns, helped me pick out frames that looked great, fit well, and felt really comfortable on. My glasses came in only about a week, much faster than anticipated, and after a few tweaks to make them fit better, I was out the door.

I like keeping the same doctor. The same dentist. The same optometrist. I’ve followed Dr. Thanh Mai the last few years. He’s a really nice doctor. He always walks me through my exam like it’s my first time, explaining what he’s doing throughout the exam and explaining issues with my eyes. He always answers my questions. And I love to ask really stupid questions. When I found out that he started his own practice, I naturally followed him.
I have to say, the one thing that was nice about this practice is that it’s a little more tech saavy. When I made my appointment, I was given the opportunity to fill out my forms online before coming in. I usually hate filling out paperwork on a clipboard at any doctor’s office.
The office is brand new. Very bright. Very clean. They have a private waiting room that has toys and games for kids. I think there maybe a TV, but I wasn’t really paying attention to that.
My exam was like all other experiences with Dr. Mai. Straightforward. Clear. Painless. Pleasant.
After my annual exam, I decided to get some prescription sunglasses and Jaime Antonio, Optician, gave me a lot of personal attention during the buying process. Explaining what my insurance would cover. What type of glasses they had. Even fashion advice.
Yes, they do take VSP.
Beyond having good customer service, I really trust my eye health being taken care of at this practice. I highly recommend this place.

Very seldom will I ever make a genuine, heartfelt recommendation of a medical practice. This is the one exception. Although I’m quite fond of this quack doctor that fixes my spine, but I don’t think he has Unilocal — or will you ever consider that medical practice. It’s more like voodoo magic. But anyway…
I can rattle on and on about the esthetics of this place — the sleek style frames they have, the state of the art equipment, the friendly staff. But when it comes to my eyes, when it comes to my families eyes, I trust these wonderful doctors.
To be quite frank, I hate going to any medical screenings. I have what you called an invincibility complex — I feel like I’m unstoppable, unflappable, and certainly can see like an eagle. Or so I thought. It could be an ego thing, or a certain mindset thing, I just don’t know. So when I first discovered I needed glasses, I was shocked. How could this be I asked.
Dr. Mai of course reassured me that everything will be fine. That he’s got my back and that just because I’m going to be a dork, life is still going to be good. He was right. And that’s the kind of doctors that are here. They will treat you like you are family. Let me repeat — they will treat you like you are family.

Top tier service. Front desk was knowledgeable and making an appointment was a breeze. Big selection of frames and I appreciate that they didn’t pressure me in any direction. I’m kind of stuck in my ways, and keeping my old frames for now. But new lenses and coatings are a must, and I got great advice for reducing eye fatigue.
Both docs are super nice, and took time to answer my questions. I liked the videos explaining latest developments in eye health and therapy. I thought optometry was a mature field with little innovation, and was pleasantly proven wrong. Maybe I’ll live long enough to enjoy bionic eye implants. Made by Zeiss of course. My answer would be most definitely E. All of the above, final answer.
First thing first, there is ample parking in this nice and quiet professional office plaza. A perk that is often taken for granted sometimes. The office is camouflaged with the other office buildings and just a pinch tricky to find. I would suggest to entering from Red Hill Ave instead of Airway Ave.
Inside the office, you will find a huge open space. Everything looks fresh, new and modern with a wide selection of eye wear. You will certainly be impressed by the décor and feel of this modern practice. I especially enjoy the teal stools that matched Insight Vision Center’s logo, it’s these little details that gives you confidence the doctors are super diligent and thorough.
Speaking with Dr. Mai, it easy to understand the raving reviews from the other Unilocalers. He is very knowledge and has shown the willingness to go the extra mile for me. Dr. Mai had no problems explaining the latest innovations in contact lenses and introduced me to the over-​night reshaping contact lens!
Don’t hesitate to make an eye appointment at Insight Vision Center! Looks like they offer vision therapy too as well, something I do not see a lot of traditional optometry offices offering.

These doctors are awesome. I highly recommend them. I saw Dr. Mai recently and am completely happy with my visit. He took the time to explain everything to me and was very knowledgeable. I felt like I was in great hands the entire time. Oh, and I filled out the online forms before I got there, so I was immediately checked in and saw the doctor. I liked how that saved me time.
My sister is currently seeing Dr. Lam for vision therapy sessions. The sessions have been very helpful for her, and Dr. Lam is super nice and personable. You can tell that Dr. Lam is very passionate about what she does, and she’s great at it!
The office itself is very nice. It’s brand new, has some pretty colorful frame selections, and has free wi-​fi. The colorful and bright office makes it a very fun place to get an eye exam. =)
Heads up! It is a bit tricky to find their office though. Directions might lead you to enter off of Airway, but the best way to get there is to enter off of Baker, near Red Hill.
