Lucy’s Express Tailoring

Charged me $ 60 to re-​weave a tear in the side of pair of suit pants near the pocket. The final product looked like a bad patch with the subtle stripes in the cloth not even matching up. I will have to toss the $ 700 suit as the pants cannot reasonable be worn to a professional workplace. They still had the gall to bill the $ 60 without any apology or suggestion that they would try to fix the issue. Just too bad. I buy 4 – 5 suits a year at south coast plaza and will NEVER use Lucy’s again.

I brought a dress here only because the first place I went to recommended me to go here due to the dress being complicated. I walked in and the tailor saw me from the back, she made me wait a good 10 mins. Then she finally came out and had me out in the dress. There was a language barrier but basically she was going the just cut the bottom of the dress straight across when it needed to be curved since it is a wrap around dress (I only figured this out because I went to another seamstress – JOY TAILORING in Newport Beach). After she marked up my dress with a weird pink dye, she walked in the back. I finished changing and was waiting at the front, she saw me from the back and I stayed waiting for another 10 mins while she was chatting and would look at me and keep talking. After those 10 mins I just left because it was ridiculous to be standing there waiting to give her my business. And thank god I did because she would have ruined the dress by cutting the bottom. The other seamstress I went to did something totally different and took it in from the waist so that the bottom would stay the same. Just don’t bother going here at all when there are better seamstresses who are nice too!

One star because the job got done, but avoid this place in regards to cost. $ 60 for a simple pant alteration! Whilst other places charge $ 7 – 10.

They saved me on Prom day when the dressmaker I was sent to failed to complete the dresses and make key pieces the girls needed. Even though it’s out of my way, I have been a customer now for 13 years and will keep continuing the drive, she’s worth it. One work AMAZING!

I brought about $ 200 worth of alterations to this store, and you would have thought I was asking for them to change my oil and rotate my tires. The woman that «helped» me was incredibly rude, pushy, and brusque. Every time I went into the changing room to put on the next garment, she would disappear into the back room and I would have to awkwardly walk back there to get her. It was like I was bothering her by asking her to help me. At most alterations places I have gone to, they carefully pin the areas that need to be taken in so they have exact measurements to refer to — instead, she marked a couple spots with chalk, interrogated me about why I bought the wrong size, and then walked away before I was done asking for her opinion on the fit. There was no way any skilled seamstress would have been able to see where the changes needed to be made. As a result, one dress was still about two sizes too big for me, another was too tight, and yet another had a large pull across the bottom of the skirt that ruined the delicate fabric. I will not be back; I have never had such dismissive customer service.

The worst place ever. I took my bridal gown in for alterations. I went to go pick it up and the train has black spots on it. The lady does not even let you finish your sentences, so I had to jump in and tell her let me finish talking. She said maybe the dress was already like this. She said my focus was the alteration of the front of the dress. The bust looked like something I can sew together at home. I did not trust this place further so I took my dress with me home and i will take it somewhere else to get it cleaned. I am so very upset, the rudest people. The lady that works there does not seem like she knows what she is talking about.

The worst place I have ever had alterations. I don’t post much here but this is horrible. I had my dress altered for my Chinese wedding reception and they ruined it when they took out the stitches and blamed it on the people who made the dress. There are now snags and small holes on my chest area. It is so obvious. DO NOT GO HERE if the item you are altering is important. The lady Susan was yelling at me like this was my fault.

Harry did an amazing job altering my wedding dress! I would recommend all the brides to be to come to Lucy’s tailoring. My dress came out perfect! I only needed one fitting which was amazing especially when your planning a wedding. No bride has time to go back for more then 1 fitting! Thank you so much Harry! I can’t thank you enough!

Had a great experience here. Yes, the woman in charge of everything was very brusque and to the point, but she did amazing work.
The prices are a little high, but unfortunately that’s what happens when you go to anyplace near South Coast Plaza. However, I’d rather pay higher prices for good quality work that doesn’t need fixing or additional alterations. I will absolutely be going here again!

A friend referred us to Lucy because he said she does a really great job with his alterations. I always like to read reviews to see what I should expect. I was a little apprehensive since the alterations where for my kids suits and taking toddlers anywhere is always nerve wracking especially when the reviews mentioned her lack of friendliness.
Before we walked in I made sure the boys where on their best behavior. However, that didn’t matter one bit. We were greeted with a smile and Lucy came over and was so sweet to my boys. She was talkative and very attentive. So attentive that she offered them water to keep them happy and even gave them pens to keep.
I wanted to review her right away, but I waited till we received our clothes back. The items looked great and I must say I will return to her if the need arises. The prices were a bit more for what I’m used to paying, but she did a great job so Im satisfied with paying a little more.
Maybe Lucy has a soft spot for kids, but in the end that made my experience so much better. Thank you Lucy you have won over a new customer.

Very happy with their work. I came at noon, picked up at six. She went out of her way since I needed the Saree for a wedding

I needed a suit in a hurry for my mom’s memorial service. Bought a beautiful one at Friar Tux next door and they recommended Lucy’s to do the express alterations. Was told I would get a 30% discount and they could do it in a day or less.
The (not terribly friendly) lady came out to fit me then said it would be ready in five days. I said noooooo, I needed it the next day. The alteration cost $ 100! I asked for the 30% discount and she said no because it was a rush job. Seemed odd to me since they ARE an express tailor.
However the suit was ready before it was promised and it fit beautifully.

«I UNDERSTAND! I UNDERSTAND!» yells the Asian woman as I try to explain how I want my pants cut. A week later, I pick up my pants. They fit worse than before. Clearly, she did not understand …

Woman is downright rude. I walked in to get the sleeves let out on a coat, I’m 6’6″ and gangly, so I already recognize that coats don’t quite fit me correctly and letting out the sleeves is only a minor fix.
However, she proceeded to tell me (this is a quote) «You look ugly, that’s the wrong size»
I was taken aback, but I politely said that they don’t typically make suits my size, it’s last minute and I need to just get the sleeves let out. She blatantly again said «no you look ugly I won’t touch it».
I then went to change out of it, and she began loudly laughing and telling the customers that I didn’t look right and that I was wasting my money.
I know the suit wasn’t a perfect fit, but I was going to pay for her to do something simple, why couldn’t she? And being that brazen and rude was COMPLETELY unnecessary and offensive. She does alterations, she’s not Donatella Versace, I don’t need to be insulted, I need a suit fixed, thats all.

This shop does amazing work. I was referred to Lucy’s by Lululemon in SCP and apparently they send all their alterations to Lucy’s. To me, that meant that they had to be decent. The exterior or interior isn’t fancy, but they do really good quality work. They fixed about 6 pairs of Lulu pants for me that I decided to make crops. I brought them to someone else originally and they ruined the hems on all of them. Lucy’s altered them perfectly and matched all the thread to the colors perfectly. I’ve also brought several jeans, pajama bottoms, and a couple dresses in and they all were done with original hem to perfection.
Never had a problem with the lady in the front who works the register. No, she doesn’t sit there and have a long conversation with you, but I’m not looking for that at a tailoring shop. Sometimes you have to wait for her to get to you after you have the clothes for her put on but, it’s only because she has had a line of customers almost out the door. She’s never been rude to me in all the times I’ve ever been there and she gives me a 20% discount every single time.
Would highly recommend.

I’ve only had very basic work done here, on clothes I don’t care too much about. So, interpret the 5 stars with appropriate caution. That said, I think the work they’ve done for me has been excellent and a very good value. I’ll keep coming here until they give me reason to go elsewhere. And, in the future I may test them on things with a higher degree of difficulty.

It started off bad for me right from the beginning. I walked in to simply get a pair of pants hemed waited in the lobby about 5 min. without anyone ever coming out to help. A lady finally comes out and I dont even finish my sentence and she sternly says go try on. So I do I come out from the dressing room and waited atleast another 5 min for her to come out of the back again. She comes out does her 10 second measurements tells me ok. I go change, come out again and waited 10 min! I finally decide to walk out.
Lets just say I wont ever be going back to that place!

Lucy I am home! Well, the moment I said that the person came walking. Yes, the lady who works here is very abrasive and kind of rude, but this lady knows what she is doing. They not only patched my suit, but they also did an amazing job tailoring my pants. I am so happy with the work she did, I am sure she cared about the work because I saw a small smile upon her face. They work pretty fast and the quality of the work is excellent. Go here for the quality of work and not for the customer service. I mean how much talking do you really have to do to tell someone that you need something fixed on your clothes. Well, people expect a smile and some excuse telling them that all will be fixed and better, Lucy tells it how it is and will just leave you amazed of the work.

This is my favorite seamstress in all of Orange County. The customer service, at times, can be a little cold and very business-​like; however the quality of work is phenomenal.
