Rajan was most helpful and his work was great. I brought in a sports coat to take in the sides. He completed it a head of schedule and phoned me for pick-​up. I was so pleased with the results, I left the jacket I was wearing to be done as well.

Rajan is the best tailor around.
I brought my boyfriend in for some alterations on a suit I purchased else where & Rajan was very kind and quick about determining which alterations were needed and which were not. The entire first appointment last about 15mins but it in no way seemed rushed, Rajan just knows what he is doing!
We informed him that we had an event a week from the drop off date (Friday) and he promised us the suit by Wednesday. Rajan contacted us Monday (3 days later!) and informed us that the suit was ready for pickup!
When you go in to pick up the suit, you try it on to ensure the fit is exactly what you want. We needed some help finding a shirt to match & Rajan helped us style the suit perfectly but did not push selling his merchandise to us —- he just made sure that we had an idea of what to look for whether it be at his shop or else where. The personal attention provided at By Design is unmatched.
The entire suit alteration was $ 60 (pants hemmed, jacket taken in) & worth every penny. We even had to convince him to accept a tip!
Rajan is an honest, hardworking tailor that has a genuine heart.

Can’t say enough about how wonderful Rajan and Sam are. The personal attention, quality of fabrics, attention to detail, and level of expertise were beyond exceptional. From alterations to custom made suits, Im beyond happy with everything from them and will be coming back for sure.

It’s so refreshing to receive great customer service. My husband and I came in on a Saturday to get a few suit jackets tailored, not knowing that Saturdays were only reserved for clients with appointments. In spite of us not having an appointment, Rajan was kind enough to accommodate us and provided useful and honest feedback. The storefront is clean and inviting. He didn’t try to upsell and get us to buy one of his suits instead, which is something my husband routinely experienced at other tailor shops. We were so impressed with Rajan and I give high praises based on the experience alone. Will update upon receiving the jackets back but this is an excellent shop so far.

Brought several new pairs of jeans to get hemmed. Immediately asked and advised to do originally hemming. Told it would take 4 days to complete, and called back ready within 3 days.
Top notch job! Friendly, reasonably priced, changing rooms available, yada, yada, yada. I’ll probably need a suit in the months to come and will probably come here to get one custom made. Thanks again Rajan!

For those of us who own multiple jackets and shirts due to work, having multiple tailors for specific needs is always a great idea. When it comes to Bespoke suits, there is no where else I would go than By Design.
The entire staff from Rajan to Sam were a delight to work with. As a men with extensive consulting experience, it’s easy to identify true professionals from amateurs. The folks here are absolute true professionals. From the pattern to the material to the measurements, The suit that I received in 4 – 5 weeks truly felt personal, like it was made for me which essentially it was.
Every working man should have at least one bespoke suit in their life. If you live around the area, I highly recommend By Design and their entire staff.

I came here last week on a Monday and luckily it wasn’t busy. There were two gentlemen there, dress in professional attire and the first thing they did was direct me to the dressing room to try on the suit I brought to alter.
Rajan gave his honest opinion of the suit, not only telling me but taking time to educate me on what I should look for when purchasing a suit (this was my first one). Rather than just going with my word or happily charging me for everything, he actually told me my coat was fine and that I shouldn’t need it altered unless I absolutely wanted it to be. Now, I shopped around other tailors and let me tell you, other places were quick to just do it. Rajan cared more about the suit and how I looked in it than just grabbing cash from my pockets.
On top of that, he was very helpful and receptive when I asked him questions on alterations, color coordinating my outfit. Other tailors do not take the time to do that. As mentioned above, I dropped the suit off on Monday, requesting it to be finished the following week. On Thursday that week, he gave me a call and told me it was ready for pick up. Amazing service and very quick with the return time even though I just needed the hems done and the jacket pressed.
I will definitely go back to Rajan for an other alterations in the future. Again, he’s very professional and the store was very well kept. It seemed very high class and Rajan is very trustworthy. His prices are fair, a couple bucks MORE than other locations but honestly, for the service you’re getting, the atmosphere and professionalism they display, it’s well worth that couple extra dollars.

Raj is fantastic. I have a weird body as far as measurements go. Clothes that fit me right out of the gate are few and far in between. As such, I was looking for a tailor to hem a pair of dockers. Raj took the measurements and within 5 minutes I was out of there. He finished the hem in about the time it takes to do a round of dry cleaning and now the pants fall perfectly on my shoes. He also gave me some suggestions about wearing the pants and happily gave answers to any and all questions I had.
On second visit I brought a T-​shirt to Raj for repair. Upon inspection he told me that he did not have the sewing machine necessary to do the double stitch required for the repair and so what did he do? He referred me to Lucy’s tailoring across the road to get the shirt repaired.
Anyone who will stick their neck out for another business, especially one in near direct competition is someone I feel confident bringing my business to. I wish more businesses would behave in this manner.

Great customer service and honest. I came by with a suit I wanted to get altered. As soon as I put on the suit, I didn’t need any changes to the suit. He even recommended that I return the blazer and get a regular as the short jacket was too small for me. I will come here again once I need a different suit altered

Back in August of 2014 I was getting married, and was going to wear my Dress Blues for the wedding. Only problem was that I had put on some weight after I the last time I wore them (I didn’t really think that much weight, but looks were deceiving in this case) and they were not going to fit, at least not comfortably (if at all!) And, in true guy fashion, I found this out only by putting them on 5 days before the wedding! Needless to say my fiancé was not happy with this revelation. I couldn’t have tried them on in the last 6 months of planning? Nope. 5 days prior. So I figured that I will just have to suck it up (literally) and just tough through it.
On a whim I decided to search Unilocal for tailors near my office and I saw By Design. Great reviews and I really had nothing to lose, worst case there was nothing that could be done. I went at lunch and met Rajan. Very nice guy! I explained to him my situation, he looked at the blues and said that he could do something with them! My next question was the real tough one, I needed them done in 3 days. He said no problem! I couldn’t believe it!
Now, if he did anything that could have damaged them, I had NO TIME to get a replacement, it was all or nothing. I showed up on the agreed on day to pick them up and they fit PERFECTLY. I was floored. My faith in humanity restored! I can only say great things about him and what he did for me.

I needed to get my suit for my wedding altered. Given the fact that I waited until the month of my wedding, there was no time to lose or room for error. I needed the best and most reputable tailor money could buy, which wasn’t much considering I’d be paying for the wedding into my 60s.
I came across By Design Custom Tailors, read the reviews and was convinced this place had to be my unicorn.
Raj is a pro at what he does. He is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable at what he does. Services work very affordable and professional. On top of that, he even gave me a discount for it being my first!
I already know I’m going to bring all my shirts, pants and anything else I can get to finally fit me correctly.

This is where I go for all of my tailoring needs. Rajan is great — a true professional and a credit to his trade. He’s friendly, accommodating, and his prices are fair. Most importantly, the work that they do here is of the highest quality. I have never been disappointed with any of my alterations and would recommend this place to any of my male friends.
Rajan is also honest too. One time I brought in an old topcoat that whose fit was too baggy and outdated; I swear I looked like Columbo in my oversized coat. I asked Rajan whether he could make it fit better or whether I should just buy a new one. He could very easily have charged me for the costly and extensive alterations. But he advised against them, and candidly recommended that I just get a new coat instead.
It should be noted, however, that Rajan’s eye leans more toward a classic aesthetic; he seems rather hesitant to embrace the more current styles. One time I had to insist on the cuff of my suit coat being about a quarter of an inch shorter than he was recommending (I’m happy I did). And another time he unequivocally expressed that my pants did not need hemming at all (I’m still not sure about that). Perhaps he was just being conservative, suspecting that I might later regret a shorter hem, but he was very happy not to take my money.
And for that reason, I’m very happy to give him all of my business.

I was looking to have some of my sport coats taken in (which is good news that I wasn’t having them taken out). I was referred to some of my attorney friends who take their suits to get altered here. So I went in and Rajan helped me and pinned my jackets and made some recommendations about how much I should have taken in. 4 days later he calls me to tell me my jackets are ready!
I came back tried them on and perfect fit! They seem to have a good business as both times I was there both men and women were there getting their clothes altered. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get their clothes altered.

I recently married the love of my life and thanks to Sam and Rajan my custom suit was impeccable. I had such a pleasant experience from start to finish. Sam took his time making sure I got exactly what I wanted and he made sure I was going to look sharp for my wedding. We met a few times to pick out the suit color, design, and custom shirts. I picked a light grey 3 piece suit with custom vest and it came out beautifully. Sam and Raj made sure the suit fit perfectly by bringing me back for a couple of fittings. I remember look in the mirrors thinking to myself… My wedding day is going to be amazing and my wife is going to love this suit!
