Business Owner

Dr. Tao Sun, DDS practices general dentistry with an emphasis on restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He also brings over 10 years of orthodontic experience. He received his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from the University of California — Los Angeles, School of Dentistry. The UCLA School of Dentistry is a premier dental school not only on a national but also on an international scale. Dr. Sun also has his MS (Master of Science) degree from UC Irvine, School of Engineering.

Only three short years after graduating from dental school, Dr. Sun opened his first private practice in Victorville, California. This was followed by the opening of his state-​of-​the-​art office that borders Costa Mesa and the beautiful city of Newport Beach, California. Currently, Dr. Sun maintains both private practices in Costa Mesa and Victorville, California.

I’ve have known about Dr. Sun for a few years now. His office is located in a beautiful area by the beach. He is truly a very nice and honest dentist. Never pushes anything on you and makes you feel at ease especially if you have any dental anxieties. Will highly recommend Dr. Sun to anyone that is looking for a great dentist !!

Dr. Sun is the best! After bad experiences with 2 other dental offices, my mom recommended him to me and raved about him (he has offices in Apple Valley and Costa Mesa). I’ve seen him twice and couldn’t be happier.
I had a pretty bad, persistent toothache from a cavity, and two other dentists recommended root canals at several hundred dollars. Dr. Sun told me that he recommended removing the tooth (a back molar), and since it was impacting a wisdom tooth, the wisdom tooth would grow in in about 6 months and replace it. I was lucky because I had a «replacement tooth» right next to it. I don’t know why none of the other dentists told me this, but it was the best option and only cost me a little over 100. He extracted the tooth right then and there, and it was an immediate relief and healed very quickly.
I came back for a full/​cleaning exam and was completely happy with Dr. Sun’s expertise, professionalism, and kindness. Dental work has always scared the beejezus out of me and I have sensitive gums, and I’m sure he can tell by the death grip I had on the chair arms, but everything was completely fine, even without anesthesia for the cleaning. He is honest, straightforward, and kind, stopping to ask every once in a while if I’m OK during a procedure and explaining exactly what he’s going to do, exactly what I need, and how long he recommend I can wait before needing it done. He didn’t try to nickel and dime me like other offices. His hygienist is great and very sweet too (I wish I could remember his name!)
I can’t recommend Dr. Sun enough. He doesn’t take my HMO insurance but since his prices are more than reasonable, it isn’t a problem and he’s worth it. The office is very nice and clean too. I think I found my life-​dentist and I’m excited! He has a referral special (full exam and cleaning for 75) so let me know if you’re looking to find your life-​dentist too!

My former dentist wouldn’t even come into the room after my teeth were cleaned to check them after I had told him I wasn’t going to do any cosmetic procedures on my bottom teeth and then had the audacity to charge me for his services, which was removed after I had caught this. Dr. Sun was recommended to me by a close relative and have now been going to him for over two years. Best dentist ever!!! Just saw him again this week and requested that I come in for more than two visits a year for cleaning, and he stated that was totally unnecessary. Former dentist had convinced me I needed to come in 4x a year. Dr. Sun does the cleaning himself and the polishing is done by his assistant. Lovely doctor, lovely staff.

I’m so happy to have found a good dentist that doesn’t conduct his business like a crooked car mechanic! Both Dr Sun and his staff are super friendly. My last dentist told me I needed to have a tooth replaced with an implant and it was going to cost $ 1800.00 out of pocket. I wanted a 2nd opinion which is why I came to Dr Sun and after inspection, he told me I just had some minor gingivitis and the tooth is fine! thanks Dr Sun for saving me $ 1800.00! He is now going to be my dentist for life!

My new dentist for life. I’ve been searching for a dentist for years. Every 6 months I go to a new dentist because every time I have a negative experience. Luckily I got a flyer at my home for Dr Sun. Decided to read his reviews and Unilocal then decided to make an appointment. First off, it’s a nice office, staff is extremely nice. Dr Sun is really sweet and explained everything he was looking at. Experience was awesome. I even made my next appointment for my next 6 month check up, which I never do. FYI if you have TMJ, he and his hygienist are gentle. Something I struggle every time I go to the dentist. First time ever that I leave a dentist and my TMJ doesn’t cause me issues after.

It is very difficult to find a good dentist these days. I changed many dentists over the years until i found Dr. Sun several years ago. Dr. Sun is very professional and always put patient’s care and feeling to his highest priority over anything else. No matter how busy he is, he always try to make sure i got the best treatment options. He also makes follow up calls to make sure everything is alright. Thist is very rare in today’s busy life. I never posted reviews on Unilocal.Now konwing Dr Sun is on Unilocal,i wanted to share my experience. i highly recommend Dr. Sun. Did I mention that Dr. Sun doesn’t over charge like many other dentists out there?

I was recommended to Dr. Sun by a coworker after I had another dental office try to take advantage of me and my money and I wanted a second opinion. I could not be happier that I have found Dr. Sun! He told me that I did not even need the procedure that the other firm had said was mandatory. I have been going to him ever since (for several years) and have always found the experience both pleasant and refreshing. He is honest, spends time with you, his prices are very reasonable and he and does not try to scam you like so many other dentists these days. I recommended him to another coworker who was afraid of dentists and had been having serious mouth pains. She went to him and he told her that she didn’t have any tooth, problems, she just had a sinus infection, so she went and got antibiotics and was so happy that the pain she had felt for a while was gone. She raved about him as well. His office staff is also always friendly and professional. Best dentist I have been to ever!!!

What do you look for in a dentist?
I look for professionalism, skill, latest technology, communications, and staff friendliness. This place has it all. After having this really nagging problem with one my back teeth (cracked it on eating crab) fixed after multiple other dentists weren’t able to fix it, we shuttle the whole family across Los Angeles to come to Dr. Sun’s practice.
