This is a beautiful restaurant on the inside, something you can’t see while passing through yesteryear’s Shopper’s Lane. Family appropriate with delicious salads, sandwiches, and desserts. There’s really nothing Old World about this place except for the wood paneling. For about 10 – 13 dollars you can choose a full on meal with a beverage. I had the half turkey sandwich with salad and it was awesome! The delicious turkey sandwich had a crispy pickle slice with tomato and loads of turkey while the salad bar was as fresh as it gets without being overwhelming. I can’t wait to come back and have more. I want to try to soups for next time! In total, the ambiance at Old World Deli, combined with the delicious food and choices make it a stellar place to eat any day of the way. Your mom and mom’s mom would approve.

Love this place! One of the freshest salad bars I’ve seen. My other favorites include the broiled chicken, New York hot dog and fish and chips. The French fries are addictive.

Located next to a shoe repair place, along with other businesses and restaurants off of Shopper Lane(street parking and some parking spots right out front). I came by Old World Delicatessen with my husband this past Saturday afternoon a little before 12:30 pm. There was a line to order hot food(sandwiches, broasted chicken, soups, pizza, Italian entrees) at one counter. But we decided to pick up the following at the other counter(very little wait time): Spicy(raw) sausage– We ordered about 1 pound, which comes out to about 4 links(they normally sell by the pound, not by the sausage). My husband smoked these on our smoker grill and they came out great. According to the store manager(who waited on us), they make these in house. They definitely had some good flavor(even though I don’t do spicy, I would probably prefer the non spicy sausage). Assorted cookies($ 10.95 per pound, prior to tax) — I picked up a few different types of cookies, all of which were pretty good. The cinnamon moon shaped short bread cookies were really good. Seafood salad– Ordered 1 pint($ 7.75 prior to tax) of this after having a sample(the store manager offered to give us a sample to try when I asked him what type of salad it was). This seafood salad was quite creamy and had a tasty flavor. I really liked that after the salad was packed into a styrofoam container, it was wrapped in plastic wrap to ensure that the lid will not break open upon travel. — — — — — — — (Total= $ 19.37 after tax) The store manager who helped us was really friendly. We told him this was our first time visiting this deli and had mentioned that we had seen the other location in Upland(which he said that the Upland location is run by one of the brothers and the Covina location is run by the other brother). He highly recommended the broasted chicken, as he said it is a real popular item. He explained that the chicken is made in a pressure fryer where the chicken is very moist and juicy, but crispy. This is definitely a good reason to come back here to try it in a nearby future visit.

Wednesday around 2pm. January 27th2016. The place is gorgeous. I love the feel of the Restaurant. Open and clean. Wine shelf as you walk in. Large wrap around countertop for the deli. They had two registers open. Large clear menus. Cute little chalk board with the soups they offered for today written in legible cursive. Plenty of tables. Large and small surrounding the salad bar. Salad bar is loaded with 2 types of lettuce and spinach. Veggies of your choice, beats, eggs, sprouts, 6 dressings, fruit for a fruit salad &3 types of pasta salad. The spaghetti noodle pasta wasn’t good at all in my opinion. The creamy one was delicious with the shell pasta. And the one with broccoli and carrots was good, but not great in my opinion. However, they have a station with oil & vinegar, bread, butter, salt and pepper, pepperoncini, mozzarella cheese and crushed red pepper. The beverage fountain was outside the counter, offering free refills, ramekins, straws, kids, napkins. Etc. There is outside seating with only two cute wooden tables. I had the salad bar and soup combo with cream of asparagus. I liked it but my bf thought it was bland and«gross». I enjoyed my salad. The tomatoes were extremely sweet and juicy. So yummy! As for the service. When we walked in there was a nice older gentlemen speaking with a guest. He has a huge smile on his face and seemed friendly. The lady at the register to the right had a smile as she waited for who ever was ready next. We ended up at the register the the left with the woman who was also setting up orders as well as taking orders. She seemed busy… I understand, but she was not very friendly at all. She approached us with a very serious face with her eyebrows raised & did not smile once. (she had a huge ponytail bun on the top of her head. Caucasian woman. I couldn’t visibly see her name tag.) This was our first visit ever here and we didn’t know the menu. She seemed annoyed we didn’t know what we wanted and when I asked her to clarify the menu combos she made me feel like I had asked a stupid question that was obvious. I just wanted to be sure. When I sat down to eat my mood had already went from being excited to try a new spot to a little sour. I’m huge on customer service and she made me feel dumb and rushed. I went back to the counter to ask for another plate because my first one was covered in ranch and I wanted to try the pasta salads. Again she was busy obviously, didn’t smile, and made me feel like I was bugging. The last time I approached the counter I waited for a second and then she asked«you need something else?» I needed a lid for my soup and a bag. At that point I was irritated. Who asks«you need something else?» to a paying customer. Busy or not you can smile. I was vey disappointed when we left. My boyfriend and I live across the street and we decided we won’t be coming back anytime soon. Eventually we’ll probably give it another shot and hope we have someone else serve us. We just left with a bad taste in our mouths. There is plenty of parking for free across the street. The shopping center itself on this quant little street is cute and welcoming. This is a nice spot to come have lunch. I saw many people who appeared to be on their lunch breaks in nice suits and office work attire. It’s casual but nice enough to also be a little dressed up. I feel like this would be a great spot to come with my girlfriends for coffee and lunch. We just had a poor experience with our order taker, but I would recommend visiting for a nice lunch.

My gf brought me here because she said it’s delicious. The salad bar was probably the most delicious salad bar I have ever eaten from. As for the Italian food I had the spaghetti and she had the lasagna. They were both delicious. Not amazingly delicious for 5 stars but enough for 4 stars. I really want to come here again. It’s such a hidden gem and it gets so packed in its secluded location. Defiantly need to come back here. The salad bar is totally worth 5 stars.

Good service but the food was just meh. Got something to go and for whatever reason it was easier to eat it there. Lots of visitors and very busy. Probably would not go out of my way to go back but overall it was ok.

Love the new location looks so clean. The parking can be a bit of a pain however, I have always found d parking. My favorite thing to get is the hot roastbeef sandwich with marinated mushrooms omg! So good it will blow your mind. The workers are always super nice an, I have been coming here for the past 25 years. The salad bar is weak compared to the one they had over at eastland however, the ingredients are all fresh and they stay on top of it changing food, cleaning, etc I love their fried chicken as well nice and juicy. I recommend this place to anyone enjoy!

Finally I arrived at the new location, saw that there was a line, the wait wasn’t long, it gave me time to figure out what I wanted to eat. I picked the famous broasted chicken and a fruit tart to go. The wait for chicken was 20 – 25 min, the cashier informed me, which was fine. Prices are a little on the high end. $ 17.60 for the 3 pc. Meal, drink and tart.

First time here. Waited 30 minutes for 5 pieces of chicken and soup. When asking why my order is taking is so long, they said it takes 20 minutes to make chicken. Really? Do they have chickens in the back and feather them first? Thanks for the heads up and thanks for wasting my time.

Delicious, quality meats. Best salad bar in the area. Friendly service. Amazing soups. Eggplant sandwiches. Full deli. And now, a bright, happy, spacious, clean, new place to enjoy it in. Go! Great on Sundays, a few big TVs so you can watch the game! I had an excellent Boar’s Head roast beef sandwich. You do have to tell them how you like it: mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato. Corn chowder was so delish. The Boy raved about his eggplant parm sandwich. I’m going back soon.

Driving in the area and planning to have dinner with my daughter when I suggest we go to OWD. I hadn’t been in an OWD in decades. I used to go the one on Colima in Puente Hills/Hacienda Heights back in the ’80’s. The place I worked at always ordered from there; introduced me to lox on bagels, corned beef sandwiches, etc. So many memories. After the Puente Hills location closed we used to go to the one behind the West Covina mall but then they were gone too. It turns out that they just moved a couple of blocks. I found out a couple of years ago but just hadn’t come by here [even though we’ve eaten at a couple of places near by]. So my daughter and I came in and I realized the problem right away, we have to choose. We decided to share so we could taste a couple of things but she said no to the Reuben. I know; and I’m paying. We did decide on the pastrami and the broasted chicken. What ever happened to all the broasted chicken places that were around when I was a kid. I remember my parents going to for broasted chicken and the big potato wedges! You hardly see this around any more. OW Delis was very juicy and tender and absolutely delicious. My daughter had to have the big pickle [Kosher or dill]; she choose dill above my objections. We had to rush out or we would have spent a little more time picking some other desserts but we did take a canoli and a carrot cake home. The big 5″ cookie was not so lucky, he only made it to the 10 Fwy.

I love this new location! When I crave broasted chicken, I end up at Old World Deli. Last night, I placed a phone order for a 4pc broasted chicken and a spaghetti plate(with garlic bread), which is big enough to share between 2 people. Broasted chicken is made to order, so It takes about 15 – 20 min. I get in, I pay, and still have to wait. But it’s fine because I get to scope out their salad and dessert cases. Also, the cashier said they were giving out free drinks and salads with every meal tonight. So, I scored there too. Parking can be a little difficult since it shares with the lot with other little stores, so it just depends on the time you go in. The broasted chicken is crispy and delicious. Though, I feel like the Upland location has bigger chicken? The garlic bread is just okay. Also, the spaghetti meat sauce was a little runny. Flavor-wise though, it’s pretty dang good.

I like this place. :) Atmosphere is inviting and good for groups. Parking is a little sketchy but you can’t have everything right? Sandwich was good! Love the marinated red and green bell pepper, great touch. A little dry for my taste but still doable. I got a side of macaroni salad and it was great! Homemade and no vinegar-y taste. They have a huge salad bar that is constantly maintained by the staff. They also have s huge selection of deserts. I SO want to go check them all out but better not!

I like the new location! Old World Deli has been around as long as I’ve been living in West Covina, so it’s nice to see they have relocated to a nicer facility. I wanted some pasta that was semi fast food, so this was perfect. I ordered the $ 9.95 dinner combo with comes with pasta, some veggies tossed in Italian dressing, and a fountain soda. I added a meatball for 2 bucks. Old World is known for their broasted chicken, so I also added a thigh a la carte. Be forewarned, their chicken is cooked to order, so expect to wait for the chicken. Everything was good, chicken was crispy and juicy. Great place for semi quick Italian food.

First time here, it’s actually surprisingly very good, everything is super fresh. I ordered the New York style hot dog and it was delicious, also got the salad bar and to my surprise it’s a really good one. Will definitely be coming back again. Only thing I didn’t like was the cashier or one of the other workers didn’t really have to much knowledge on the menu. They should put up pictures.

Great selection. Salad bar was fresh and I liked that there was bread included. We also had the hot dog– very tasty and sizable. The black out cake was yummy and moist. The manager was very helpful. Clean and nice atmosphere. Will return.

The new location is past Ihop and right before the Kia dealership. It’s a bit hard to see it if you’re going north on Citrus since it’s not facing the street. The place is more modernized and cleaner. The place does get packed around lunchtime. They also have their dessert case, cheese, and meat case as well. I usually get the soup bowl and all you can eat salad combo with a drink($ 11.95). Their salad bar is clean and the food is pretty fresh, they did not have marinated mushrooms the day I ate there which I was a bit bummed about. Their soup selection is pretty good, I decided to get the chili this time, lots of kidney beans this time but it was pretty tasty. They take card.

What’s with the old benches with the old graffitti marks on them. I know that you’re trying to save money, but I looked at the bench by the window and there were someone’s graffitti and to top it off… they just stained over it. A nice sander would have helped remove that. PLACE: With that put aside, I thought that this place was very clean. Counter: Behind the glass is a lot of nice fresh products… cheese, meats rolls. SERVICE: The lady at the counter was friendly and very helpful. Salad Bar: It was very fresh Sandwich: My sandwich although fresh was pricy. Hope they keep up the good work. It is a better fresher looking location. Parking can be a bit of a hassle at times.

Almost got a heart attack when I found out that their Eastland center location closed down, only to find out that they just relocated(phew!) LOVE this place! Would always get their Philly cheese steak and their potato soup which tasted really yummy and buttery(in a good way!!) It would usually get packed around lunch time, but I never experienced a delay in my orders. The staff are always nice and accommodating and they greet their customers with a smile which is always nice. I always enjoy coming here. Can’t wait to visit the new location!

New location. the inside is so new and updated. Parking kinda sucks tho cuz there’s not really a parking lot. Its right across from Kia Dealership, so its mostly just street parking. Menu and food remains the same. Food tastes as good as it did… if not even better! I’m really digging this new spot. everything looks so much more modern and sleek. There’s 2 giant lcd tvs in the dining area as well. The salad bar looks super fresh with lots of healthy options. You basically place your order at the counter, pay, find a table and wait for your number to get called. Today, we went with their daily special, BLT on sourdough and their NY hot dog w/o relish plus a side of fries. Perfectly cooked bacon and a plump juicy hot dog grilled to perfection, hot crispy fries. Can’t go wrong with that. They have lots of quality deli meats and cheeses, salads, specialty foods, snacks, desserts, cookies, and pastries at the counter. If it’s your first time here, I’d go with their famous broasted chicken. The skin is crispy and the chicken is juicy. It does take awhile since it’s cooked to order though. so maybe takes 15min? Definitely worth the wait though. I especially like it with some honey drizzled over the chicken… soo good!
