Server was good, female manager on duty needs customer service classes big time! Came in with my handicap mother for quick ice cream in a half empty restaurant. Sat her down at closest table for convenience as my sister went to the other side of the restaurant to get us seated properly. In no time the young female manager, I’m assuming, came and slammed menus down passively aggressively, stating how you can’t just sit down anywhere you please– that you typically go to the front to do so. As I began explaining our situation she already started to walk away while continuing her rude side comments. At this point I got up to properly meet my sister at the front just to please the situation. Manager followed and again rudely stated that we could stay where we were. Impolite, young and uneducated — NC needs to properly train their management staff so that their servers don’t follow in such low class foot steps.

Stopped in for a quick treat In between softball games. The young waiter was friendly, attentive, and service was prompt. However, while sitting at the counter we heard the manager/district manager issue directives(not sure of his position) to all employees in such a manner that it made our party feel very uncomfortable and finish sooner than planned in order to leave the establishment. While I understand what he was trying to accomplish; effective leaders do not need to berate employees in order to motivate them. It was our first and last visit to Newport Creamery.

The manager is a jerk! We went to Garden City for the concert on Wednesday night. After it was over we went to NC for sundaes for 4 of us. We ordered at the window, didn’t get nuts or cherries in them even tho we asked for them. We went to sit at the outside tables in front and the very nice waitress said that it was for«full service» but we could sit there because the music was over and there were several empty tables. As we’re eating she comes over again and says the manager said we have to leave! He doesn’t want other people seeing that were sitting there without ordering off the menu. First of all how would anyone know that we didn’t? Couldn’t we have ordered ice cream off the menu? It didn’t make any sense! It was already 9pm so how much business were they going to get ?!! There were 2 other couples that they asked to leave also even though we ALLHADBOUGHTICECREAM! How ridiculous is that?! Their food and ice cream are not the best so we certainly will NEVER be back there. One if the other men went in to talk to the manager and he was extremely rude. No one needs to be treated like that especially when they are paying customers! Plenty of other good restaurants to go to!

This place was ok. I walked up to the outside window. I got a cookie sandwich. It was good however the cookie was hard as a rock and I could not bite into it and all the ice cream melted all over my outfit and got my car all sticky. Other than that… acceptable taste.

I like ice cream and I like supporting local businesses but this particular Newport Creamery needs some improvement. Maybe because this store is in a upscale shopping plaza and surrounded by many restaurants I was expecting more but each time I leave disappointed. On my last visit, my guest and I waited to be seated in a dining room filled with a few uncleared tables. Although not crowded we waited a a bit for a server. Once he arrived I stated I wanted coffee if it was a fresh pot. The server enthusiastically stated he would make a fresh pot. My guest ordered the same. The coffee arrived but after putting in a good amount of milk was still too dark and bitter. When the server returned and I complained he said he would make a new pot. That was nice but I thought that’s what he was going to do. We ordered the ice cream next. While waiting our second cups arrived and were still bitter tasting. I have had Newport Creamery coffee at their other shops and either this was a bad batch which can happen or the coffee machines need a good cleaning. Next, the ice cream arrived and were dropped off without silverware. We could not find our servers so we just used our coffee teaspoons. Unfortunately, portion size and presentation has changed drastically. I ordered a large 3 scoop dish. before thee three scoops would be place side by side in a banana split dish. My ice cream order was arrived as one melted scoop in half filled sundae goblet. I’m not sure if they have replaced the former ice cream scoops for melon scoops but one of my flavors consisted of literally of 2 bites which I thought they almost forgot to include. My guest’s sundae was a similar disappointment with melted ice cream and cold hot fudge. FYI I have had consistently better service and coffee at the Seekonk Newport Creamery.

ice cream sand which was good but overpriced. for almost four dollars you get two big crappy cookies holding some good ice cream between the two.

The décor was dog shit! It felt like an old folks home. Well I was probably the only person there under 55 so I guess you could call it that! The food was mediocre at best! But the service was horrible! We waited 20 minutes for drinks! The waitresses was somewhat Rude to! You know what your getting into if you go to a place like this!

Welp. I gave this place two chances for breakfast. Both times the food was fine, but unfortunately, I encountered the same unfriendly waitress each Sunday morning. The first time I went, I met my party about five minutes after they arrived. Once I sat down, I was rushed to place my order. It was not at all busy, however, the server did not appear to have an ounce of patience. I quickly reviewed the menu, and upon not finding anything particularly attention-getting, I ordered a egg and cheese sandwich: boring, but familiar. As soon as she walked away and the menu was no longer covering my placemat, I noticed a fritata special that sounded appetizing. Less than two minutes later she stopped by and I asked if I could change my order. I was met with a curt«no, it is too late, I already placed your order.» There was no, «let me check» or «sure thing, I don’t think it’s too late.» There was zero courtesiness available in her repertoire of tricks. When we were done our breakfast, she was no where to be found for ages. We sat and waited and waited and waited some more for the check. Hmph. A few weeks later I returned with a friend who had not been since her childhood. She was so looking forward to going back, she could barely contain herself. I was so sad when I learned we would have the same server I had the experience of already knowing. In her typical fashion, she hurried us along. When my friend made a request for one specialty pancake and the others«plain», of course she was met with resistance. No, «let me check» type nicety, just«we cannot do this, you will have to have all or none, or we will charge for all.» It’s too bad she starts what I can only assume to be a fair number of customers Sunday mornings off badly. The food isn’t that great, the atmosphere nothing to write home about, but the service is the worst.

They show a picture of this spot in the old days for the photo; it isn’t like that anymore. Came to this spot to enjoy some ice cream with some friends. Upon entering, after being ignored for about 7 minutes, the woman finally asks how many. When hearing that our answer is 5, she gives a scowl and goes«ughhh» in a disgusted manner. I would never treat a customer that way and make them feel like they are a nuisance. On the other hand, the waitress was nice! She is the only reason for 2 stars

I love Newport Creamery. I have loved it since I was born. My mother had a banana split almost every night while she was pregnant with me. The food it always consistent and it always hits the spot. I unfortunately have to complain about the service I receive last evening at the garden city location. The small boy behind the counter spent most of the time goofing off and from what I could see he was the only one working the window. The other window was being worked by a young lady who served people by her choice alone(witch appeared to be a group of «bros» that she wanted to impress) rather than the line of 25 people waiting. When I finally got to the window the small blond boy, whose name tag was blank, but resembled David Spade, didn’t know the ingredients in the items I ordered(brownie sundae and a Oreo awful awful) he claimed to have worked there for 2 years and never made those before. This was also the same boy who took my over the phone order several weeks ago and assured me this NPC location had roast beef sandwiches on the menu and when we went to pick up our take out order, there was no roast beef and couldn’t be bothered to call us back and tell us. I will, next time, walk out rather than be served by him again. The sundae and awful awful was up to par and enjoyable. David Spade look alike — not so much.

Really disappointed in the service here today. I was buying some half gallons of ice cream for a birthday party and I stacked them up at the register. THEMANAGER was talking to some people who just came in that used to work there, which must have been the most amazing thing ever because he didn’t even say hello to me, just cashed me out while continuing to talk to his cronies. I expect service like that from a teenage server, but not a manager. I’ll stick to going to the Greenville location.

Been to this location a couple of times and I have to say it’s not too bad. The food tastes pretty good everytime I go. Fries are crispy. Ice cream and awful awful’s are delicious. They accommodate large parties and handle them pretty good(Had a group of 25 people and had excellent service). Good food, reasonable prices and quantity.

A 2.5. Our meal was only $ 12 for a breakfast sandwich, a 2 eggs with English muffins and potatoes platter, and a chocolate mint & coffee awful awful(milkshake). The milkshake was a bit much and the poached eggs weren’t poached so well-I probably only ate half of it since the other half was a liquidy mess. Santa was making a visit today though, and the place was packed.

Awful. Got an ice cream soda with flat coke, freezer burned ice cream, and melted whipped cream. Vile.

My awful awful was awful good until it spilled into my lap… than it was awful cold. Server was great but there was only one in the whole place with 6 tables spread out.

A lifetime Rhode Islander, I’ve visited various Newport Creamery locations many, many times. Nowadays I visit this location with my kids for lunch or dinner as a treat for them. While the food is definitely not gourmet they enjoy it. I think their turkey burger is just fine. They get their hotdog/chicken/burger/whatever with fruit from the kids menu, I get the turkey burger with fries and they share my fries. Perfect. The best part of the trip is, of course, the ice cream. The service is always very friendly. In fact, our server last week was so sweet and didn’t even charge us extra for the ice cream. The kids are included in their meals but I got a scoop or pumpkin ice cream and it didn’t appear on the bill. I really like this place for a kid friendly meal. It’s a great value, the people that work there are great and the kids will love it.

When I want some food and don’t know where to go… Newport Creamery is my fallback! Sorry for putting you in such a place, but it’s true. The food is not the best but it is right for the price. The portions are also pretty decent. The service here is consistent and not too bad. The fish and chips aren’t too bad and you can order any day of the week. Kicks the craving when you don’t want to travel to the beach or bars for some. But my all time favorite from here is their Clam Chowder. YUM! The dessert — ice creams are great! I grew up going to the one in Providence, but this one is basically the same.

Ice cream is a success here any ice cream combination you get here will be great. Their signature Aweful-awefuls are great. However, The food is just mediocre. Most of the time, it’s made by high school kids just looking for a job, same with the waiters. The manager is the only person that looks«of-age» to be doing anything here.

When I’m craving an all-around classic, delicious Banana Split, Newport Creamery is the place to go. This place is spotless and very clean. However, the staff can be a little slow. I came here last night with a friend and it took literally almost eight minutes for someone to wait on us, but the waitress was very pleasant. The ice cream is what makes this place great. As I said above, their Banana Split’s are BOMB! Not too big, not too small, not too over-the-top, but just right like the good ol’ classic ice cream dish. Pistachio, Coffee, and Vanilla with the works is the way to go!
