After reading the glowing Unilocal reviews, I trusted bringing in a vintage Tascam 246 multitrack cassette recorder for Ned to look at. The headphone section had developed a loud buzz that made using the device unlistenable. Over the phone, he instructed me to try a few things to diagnose the issue on my own and we discovered that it was isolated to a particular part of the circuit. I brought it in and within a few days he called to tell me it was a floating ground loop issue and solved the problem. He also took the time to clean various pots and lube the faders so now the thing is working as good as new. I’m very pleased with Ned and his services and he was a delight to talk to. It wasn’t super cheap but well worth the money to save a vintage piece. I’ll be back for sure.

Ned is T HE B E S T!!! I’ve been going to him for years, mostly for computer needs, but he’s fixed lamps and other electronics. Friends had a computer glitch that no other geek or repair person could fix. Ned was the answer. Aside from that, he’s the nicest and warmest guy you’ll ever meet. The true iconic meaning of a ‘mom and pop’ shop at it’s best.

Awesome, wonderful, perfect! Ned is the greatest. He can fix anything and knows his stuff. I will not go anywhere but here for any electronic repairs. He’s helped me with a Samsung receiver that is still going strong, and just today he solved the power problem on my little pink cassette player from the 80s. Nothing but stellar service and help. Bring anything you need repaired here, you will not be disappointed. THANK YOU!!!

Don’t let the appearance of this shop fool you; scads of electronic appliances, TV’s, vacuum cleaners, stereo equipment scattered everywhere. Just put your faith in Ned, show him your problem and he will give you the straight dope as to whether or not he can help you. Almost all the time he can as he is a professional electronic genius. This is what repair shops used to be like in the last century. Talented people making an honest living doing good workmanship. Ned is passionate about what he has been doing for the last 30 years or more and thank heaven he exists.
I had a simple cord replacement to be done on a pair of headphones. He took the phones apart in front of me, had a look, and named his price and estimating the time to be later the same day. I got a call in less than an hour and the job was done better than how the original cord had been done at the factory and at a reasonable price. When I came to pick up my cans, Ned was explaining a computer problem to another customer, solving it in a simple and direct way and not asking to be paid. You will not find a better electronic repair shop than E Joseph, believe me.

The owner is incredibly friendly.
I brought in a pair of moderately-​priced headphones which were no longer working and the manufacture refused to repair for me (Marshall Minor FX headphones; despite the good sound quality I would recommend against purchasing these since the company doesn’t stand behind them).
Ned was awesome. He said he didn’t think he’d be able to fix my headphones but that he’d give it a try. Next day I get a call from him saying they are fixed and ready to be picked up.

I bought a pair of simple, computer speakers whose RCA connecting cord was too short to put the speakers on either sides of my couch. Really frustrating, because no other big outlet store had any solutions for a wire extension. I then ask Ned at E JOSEPH and he’s instantly NICE, INFORMATIVE, and told me to bring in everything to have a look at it. As soon as I showed him my speakers and cable, he knew exactly what to do and gave me an accurate time estimate on when to come back. An hour of time and just $ 20 of service later, he’s provided for me a seamlessly improved speaker set. Now I have plenty of connecting wire to spread my speakers wide apart from each other in the house, to provide sound for my movies and music.
GO SEE NED!!! We MUST support small and true businesses like his. Don’t waste your time at chain/​big outlet stores — they don’t care about personal help, nor informing you on what’s what. Ned is one of the last of what America used to be great at: Personal, specially-​trained Working People of high caliber trade and skills. Remember how we all used to have the mental image of the «the fixit man», «the repairman», the «guy at the shop». THAT’S HIM! It’s a trip going in there — a kind-​faced wizard amongst his heaps of gadgets. He repairs anything from TVs to VCRs to speakers to vacuum cleaners! I also saw him dealing with other customers and you can tell that personalized, extra-​care service MATTERS TO HIM!

I recently had my whole house fan go out on me, and was considering just replacing the unit as it had already ran out of warranty, when I began searching for options to repair it.
I came across E Joseph Inc. on Unilocal,and gave the a call to see if they would be willing to take a look at the fan motor to assess it for a possible repair. Ned answered the phone and told me to bring the motor & housing to him.
I got a voicemail the next morning from Ned, telling me that he came in early (6am) to the shop so as to not be distracted while assessing/​repairing the motor, and that he had good news! The motor was repaired as good as new!
Ned is a very knowledgeable, and is as pleasant as he is professional. I would recommend his services to anyone requiring repairs on their household electronics!
While he demonstrated that my fan motor was in working condition, I couldn’t help but notice that he has a lot of televisions at the shop which are in for repair. He told me that his approach to repairing circuit boards on appliances like televisions is to not simply replace the faulty components (most commonly capacitors) with those of the same rating, but to do the repair with uprated components to prevent the same issue from resurfacing.
I told Ned I now know where to come when my TV breaks! He said «May you have no problems! But if you do, bring it to me and I’ll do my best!»

Owner looked at my Sony DVD player and said he should be able to find parts to repair it. I then paid the $ 35 diagnostic fee. A few days later he said he couldn’t find the parts to repair it. I’m out the $ 35 fee. Perhaps the policy should be changed to refund at least part of the fee in these cases, since if I had been informed that parts might not be available, I probably wouldn’t have risked the diagnostic fee.

I took my old Marantz receiver for repair and i got it back like new.
He is totally old school.

Great great great! I never post Unilocal reviews, but decided to create an account after I called to get a quote on a TV repair. After describing my problem, they were quick to tell me that a repair wouldn’t be worth the money — buying a new TV would be my best option. The honesty was refreshing, and they were overall just genuine. Definitely will be my first call if anything else arises.

My experience with Ned at E Joseph is much like many of the others you see here. He is everything people are saying about him. Excellent at his craft and the nicest man you’ll ever want to meet. He kept my laptop running longer that it was meant to, advised us and installed a high-​end graphics card in my son’s desk top so his games worked like they’re meant to and kept my wife’s laptop running perfectly though it was at least 5 years old when she first brought it in. I’ve only taken computers to Ned but I see all kinds of appliances in his shop, from TV’s to microwaves, to vacuums, Ned can do it all. On top of it all, his prices are reasonable and fair. If you’ve got a problem, Ned can will most likely find a way to fix it. He’s done amazing things for me.

I took my son’s TV in for repair and the service I received was amazing! Ned even met me at my car to carry it in for me! I was not charged even for his time since the TV was still under warranty…
We will use them for all of our repair needs and I wanted to share how wonderful it was working with them! Thank you guys!!!

Ned is the best!!! First he fixed our vacuum which is now just like a brand new one and secondly, he fixed two of our fans that you can no longer find. He gave his recommendations on how to maintain them and kept me in the loop of their status. Super fast service and reasonable prices. He is honest and just amazing with his customer service. Will definitely come back again. The great thing is that he can fix about anything electronically… so it’s also a one stop shop. Thank you Ned for all your help.

Wow! What a great place. Took my LG HDTV in, as the input things had stopped working. I asked if I should leave it with him, and Ned the owner said, let me run some test now to avoid checking in fee. He was so genuine and happy that he diognosed my tv. I would not hesitate to go here for any electronic problems. Old School ethics, which now a days is hard to find.

Ned is the greatest!
His is the old-​school appliance-​repair shop. He’s fast, trustworthy and very economical. Like all the best people who do this, Ned is a genius at the workaround. The ability to find a way to a way to make that gizmo work again in a creative, permanent and, at times, unorthodox way.
Just this month, he’s helped me with two very different items:
1) He drilled out a re-​tapped broken-​off screw on an pedal on my wife’s MTB bike. Now the pedal clip device is held in place with a stronger better screw.
2) He drilled out and re-​tapped the broken-​off screw that held on the filter on a 15-​bar-​pump Krups espresso maker I got on eBay for $ 15. So now I have this nifty swanky espresso machine for 10% of the cost of a new one. (Swiss made to boot)

If you’re tired of re-​cycling or worse yet, just throwing away, things that should still be working but aren’t, go see Ned. He can help you save both tons of money (otherwise spent on replacement appliances) and landfill space for those not-​yet-​dead electronic necessities. I also LOVE the idea of patronizing and supporting LOCAL BUSINESS.
PS: As I re-​read this recommendation I see a trend: I break off the heads of too many stuck screws and bolts. I guess I just don’t know my own strength. Thanks Ned for bailing me out here.

Took my Hoover vacuum cleaner in today to get fixed. The man who helped me was very friendly and helpful. They were able to get it fixed with in just a few hours. I highly recommend this business.

Excellent Service and knowledgeable.
Spoke on the phone with Ned, was very friendly and easy to talk to describing my issue. I brought my Samsung smart TV in, in the morning he said he’ll take a look, made a small deposit and went my way.
Place was a classic old grungy repair shop one might expect, defiantly had a sense of legitimacy, rather then the people at Best Buy.
Called me few hours later with updates, saying it may take a couple days, but was done the very next day.
Was fast excellent service quality, couldn’t be happier. He also fixes, Vacuums, and computers as well just not only TVs

As per the excellent Unilocal reviews, brought my Dyson into Joseph. He was WONDERFUL! Amazing service, and a really fair price, plus he fixed it in one day!
Quite frankly, the vaccum works better now than when I bought it. Will use him for anything electronic that’s broken… you can’t go wrong!

Exactly what an electronics repair shop should be.
I walked in and spent a moment taking in the look and the smell of the establishment — old electronics have a familiar odor, not unlike one’s grandfather’s garage — while Ned calmly handled what must have been a particularly enthusiastic customer on the phone. I was prepared to wait patiently, but he insisted I walk up and present to him the object of my concern, which, in this case, was a bluetooth speaker that was no longer charging properly.
While fully participating in his telephone conversation, Ned examined my device and asked me questions with his eyes and hands, diagnosing the issue without much effort at all. Once he wrapped up his call he apologized to me with a smile, and walked me through what was wrong. I had assumed it was a loose contact inside the speaker, but he showed me why it was, in fact, the cable. He then sent me away, telling me it would be far cheaper to simply replace the cable than for him to attempt any work on it. I went to Best Buy, bought a new cable, and my problem was solved.
Might I have been able to diagnose this correctly on my own? Perhaps. But Ned provided me his time, expertise, and reassurances, and did so completely free of charge.
I doubt if he spends any time here on the internet — he seems an analogue sort of fellow — but if he does ever chance to visit Unilocal,I hope he knows I appreciate his kindness and care. I would recommend him to anyone with an electronics issue — at the very worst he’ll point you in the right direction, and do so with a smile.
