It’s A Grind Coffee House

This is one of the most convenient coffee shops for me and although I’ve taken advantage of the convenience in the past, I quickly learned my lesson and have stopped coming here. It doesn’t get too crowded so there is (modest) study space, and the owners seem nice, but they just can’t seem to get the drinks right. I actually gagged after each sip of their white chocolate mocha. I asked the guy working if maybe their syrups or milk were expired but we never reached a resolution and I ended up tossing my drink (wasn’t offered another one) and being sleepy with a unpleasant taste in my mouth the rest of my day. Tough times.

This is a little treasure of a coffee café in Cupertino off of Steven’s Creek Blvd. There’s a nice area for seating, delicious coffee, fresh treats and scrumptuous breakfast/​lunch sandwiches. It is tucked away in the strip mall near Charles Schwab and a Japanese grocery store, so it’s not too well known. I like that it’s intimate, peaceful and refreshing. The owner is very attentive and often brings out the coffee or tea herself. She care about her business and keeps all aspects of it looking/​feeling good! It does get busy occasionally, but room is usually made when someone needs a seat. There is free wifi, and is usually someone there on the computer. The restroom is clean and the place is kept tidy. I have to drive a ways to get there, or I’d go every day. It’s nice to have an alternative to the run of the mill big name coffee places. This place is special! I’ll give it 5 stars as it has the personality and ambience to make it a real treasure in Cupertino!

I used to go here almost everyday of my week.
I liked their non-​conventional drinks, like the ones with that kick of coconut. I mean, I wouldn’t go here for anything normal or conventional — I could do that myself.
Away from that, I love the drinks that they offer and I love their food too! If you’re ever hungry just pick up a bagel, muffin, or even a lemon bar. Trust me, it’s all good.
The employees that work here are SUPER nice! I do recall leaving a tip of $ 5 more than once: P

I like this place a lot. I was here yesterday and had a white chocolate peppermint mocha and a lemon bar. The mocha was DELICIOUS omg dude it was so good. I still could taste the mocha even with the sweetness of the chocolate. The lemon square was disappointing… It tasted really awk like cardboard ish toothpaste almost? Idk how to describe it. Maybe it’s just me because I’m used to my Best friend’s mom’s lemon squares. But the coffee was good. Reviewed by my daughter.

We were here on Jan. 1 and it was a p, easing experience. However, the coffee house was understaffed, I felt so bad for the two kids worming there. Where the heck was the manager? We were not hungry and just finished our Lunch and wanted to finish with a nice coffee and dessert. Others were not in similar state and were impatient with the long wait, we can understand why local coffee places would lose their customers to the Starbucks or Peet’s establishments.
Quality — 5 stars for their chai latte, one of the best
Customer service — 4 for the staff but minus 1 star due to the wait
I would come back here for the delicious coffee, chai latte, mocha, etc. I love to support the local businesses so a wait for coffee usually will not deter me to a coffee house.

There coffee is not bad. The choices in the types of roasts was good. What disappointed me is the service from the people working behind the counter. I asked a couple questions about the types of flavors they to mix with coffee and I was made to feel like I was bothering them. Very surprised and disappointing! F– on the service! 2 stars because the coffee was not bad and because of the wifi.

I’m a fan of It’s A Grind since I have good memories of meeting the friendly workers there and them subsequently becoming my friends. Unfortunately, when they eventually quit working there, I stopped going there.
I stopped by in here after dropping my car at Sears when I had an hour to burn. I got an Irish Cream Latte, a syrup that evil empire chain $tarbuck$ does not carry anymore (booooo!). This location still has friendly workers and pretty decent Wifi (ask for the password or look for the sign above the cream/​sugar station). They bring the drinks out to you too which is a nice touch.
The seating inside is not that big and in the cold mornings on a weekend, sitting outside is not an option and luckily I was able to get a seat here but it was already pretty crowded by 9am so be sure to be sit outside if there’s not seating inside.
It’s nice to be back at IAG again and drinking my usual Irish Cream Latte brings back plenty of good memories. This def would be my coffee house of choice on this stretch of Stevens Creek that the evil empire doesn’t have a presence!

I haven’t been to this coffee house for a while, but lately it has been on my mind. All their drinks used to be made with Ghiradelli chocolate. I remember them having a very strong and sweet taste which I personally like. According to recent Unilocal reviews, the service has sloped downhill and it is noisy, but I am still interested in checking it out again as their drinks were absolutely delicious with menu options/​flavors not offered at some of the chains.

I can only comment about the noise level here: HORRIBLE.
I’m on a business call on Skype right now with someone at It’s a Grind, and the conversation is nearly impossible.

I used to go here a lot last year and during the years I was in university. Now, not so much except in matters of convenience.
The staff have always been personable and kind. Lately it seems like they’ve been training new people, so be forewarned that it might feel a little awkward when you make your order but just be patient.
Sometimes the place can get packed with students and other occupants. It’s definitely a good place to buckle down and read a book, study, or just have a nice chat with your friends, but there just isn’t enough seating space for a lot of that to happen. Last time I went there I saw a sign asking for occupants to share open table space with others which, while a kind gesture from management, I’m not sure if people will actually make an attempt to observe.
In regard to the drinks, I used to order the espresso drinks here regularly, but nowadays I think they’re just way too sweet-​seems like they put in too much syrup or something. The last time I ordered a small white mocha from there I could only get through ¹⁄₃ of it before I just couldn’t drink anymore. Now I just go for the iced teas, which I could just as well make at home, but as I stated in the beginning: I go here when it’s convenient.

I have a thing for checking out coffee shops when I can so when I happened to be in the same plaza for lunch I dropped in for a latte.
There’s a picture of a latte on the menu with latte art so I was expecting a smooth, velvety latte. But no, it was really foamy, couldn’t help but feel tricked. The latte itself was alright — not as strong as I’d like but at least it didn’t taste like warm milk (*ahem, Starbucks*). The counter has a lot of stuff on it to entice you to buy beans, mugs etc but it’s at the expense of the barista being unable to put the drink on the counter after they’re done making it.
Meh, this place is alright.

I’ve been coming to this shopping center since I was in elementary school and my has it changed.
Came Its A Grind recently and ordered the chai latte which is really just 3 pumps of chai syrup in a latte. Pretty flavorful.
Presentation on the chilled blended drinks is pretty decent with the whipped cream at the tip of the straw… may have to try one of those next time.
Service is really good, the barista was very personable and patient. I’d come here again, its pretty chill. Location is small but there is out door seating.

I was also a little sticker shocked when we got our total at the counter… but then again we also had a bit of buyer’s impulse with all the goodies at the counter. He order an Americano (small) and I order a caramel mocha (small).
Both drinks were made very well and the service at the counter was also good. even though we took our time ordering since we had never been here prior. His only complaint was that his coffee was so hot, he couldn’t even sip it for at least ten minutes. (we did tell her we’d be dining in). I had no complaints on mine. I’ve been trying to get this type of combination drink at Starbucks and they can’t seem to make it exactly. Neither could Caffino. If I’m ever in the area again, I might stop by but I had to knock down two stars because of price. It just seem incredibly steep.

3.5 stars. I like this place.
I came here for the first time and got an Iced White Chocolate Mocha. It was a little too sweet, but perfect enough to give me a kick of caffeine in order for me to stay up. The place is pretty cluttered with all these options. They have holiday flavors like any other coffee place. This place is way calmer than Starbucks and has a smoother taste to it. Also there isn’t a long wait so you get your drink right away at your service.
Plus get a rewards card so after a certain amount you get 1 free!!! You can even use that same card at the boba tea place across, Verde.

First of all I like this because of the location to my house. super close. and they have these nice chairs, the comfortable chairs with little side coffee tables… and of course the basic tables and chairs. They have the flavored coffee roasts… vanilla/​other blends that I forget… student discount of 10% or their punch card. It’s also nice when you order your drink and sit down they’ll bring your drink to you! Nice service. The con pannas are really good… served in a little tea cup/​plate and spoon.

I’ve been to It’s A Grind on and off before but it’s small and always difficult to find a table, and I found better coffee shops like Bellano’s and Barefoot. Since I was going to Dynasty in Vallco mall for Sunday Dim Sum with friends and had time to kill, I decided to stop by a cuppa.
Ordered my usual espresso and a muffin. Was a bit of a wait since there only 2 people there and since all the seats inside were taken, I sat outside to wait (plus it was a nice morning out anyway). After several minutes, the barista comes out to tell me the only blueberry muffin they had which I ordered was apparently ordered by someone before me. Oh well, I’ll have a croissant instead.
Espresso finally shows up in a paper cup and I get a chocolate croissant instead of the plain I ordered. Arrggh, nevermind as long the espresso is good. Turns out it’s average and had a bit of a soapy after taste. They get dinged a star for not having espresso cups.

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! horrible coffee and their baristas didn’t have a damn clue about what they were serving me! UGH it makes me mad when people don’t know their product or even a short description about it. Instead the guy says, «Oh, uhmm… I don’t know lol but these are pretty sweet and tasty right here.» WTF?
Plust the drinks are way too damn sweet!

I find that the coffee here is never strong enough for me. I’ve gotten the nutty cow, the caramel macchiato as well as the mocha… and none of it has been that amazing.
You can study here and they’ve got internet. However, not that many tables and sometimes the people nearby you are very distracting.
Huge yummy muffins; I just remember the muffin here being really yum and humongous.

For a franchised location, It’s A Grind is A-​OK!
It was a cold, wet, and gloomy Friday. I needed a pick-​me-​up after running my errands for the day. I thought of this coffee house since I always pass by it when I get dessert at Yogurtland or boba tea at Verde Tea. For a Friday afternoon at 2pm, the parking lot was half full. I went inside the cozy looking café and saw that it was pretty nice looking from the inside. I liked the aluminum lined back walls and the general layout of the café. It was simple. When looking straight at the cashier, there were pastries and yogurt to my left and about 8 self serve coffee containers of different strengths and flavors to my right.
As the cashier patiently awaited, I took a good look at the menu and decided to get a Double Soy Vanilla Latte. He verbally repeated my order to make sure we were on the same page. Total bill came to $ 3.55 Double Latte plus $.50 Soy totaling $ 4.05
It didn’t take long for the cashier/​barista to make my hot beverage. When it was ready, he repeated the order again and said «Enjoy!»
The latte was just right. It was hot enough to burn my tongue, but at least it woke me up. The espresso flavor was strong and sweet from the vanilla. They use a syrup brand called Da Vinci for all the flavors neatly stacked again the back wall.
All the tables and seats were taken up so I didn’t stay inside while it rained. If the place was bigger for more chairs and tables, that would give it more stars. I could count maybe 4 tables at the most.
It’s a nice change from the old Starbucks and Peets Coffee. If you’re around town and looking for a new local café, check it out. They have an extensive menu and I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you’ll enjoy.

I gave it a second go and my iced sugar free vanilla latte was perfect.
Shout out to the staff and owner for actually listening to what folks have to say and making sure that it is done right.

I’ve tasted better coffee than this place. We ordered an iced vanilla latte and boy… there sure was mucho crushed iced to make the drink cold on a hot, sunny day… but taste-​wise. it was beyond watery. I was drinking a $ 3 worth cup of water and ice. I am usually a passive person and let these things go but I told my friend to tell them about the coffee this time. Yes, Kathy wants her decent cup of coffee! The worker was kindly enough to make another drink for us, a mocha chocolate one. It was a bit better, more flavor to it but I was still not a big fan of it…
I have to admit though, the place is cute. I love the different designed mugs that were on display around the coffee shop. There were a good amount of chairs, tables, and couches to enjoy the wifi. This place is located in the same plaza as Beard Papa’s and Yogurtland, where massive people congregate on a sunny day. So beware for parking!
ehhh maybe ill give this place another try one day. I didn’t get quite a good first impression on their drinks.
Sorry, you guys didn’t grind them coffeee as much as you should of!!!
