Horrible experience left my bird for a week told them to pls leave her outside the cage cuz she gets very stressed to be locked in a cage did they listen no! They locked my bird in the cage for a whole week and when my husband picked her up she is featherless and they apologized really what’s difference does the apology makes they didn’t so their job and neglected my bird do not bring your bird here

when I walked into the shop 3 days ago I couldn’t wait for my husband and I to go bird shopping i wanted nothing more then to adopt a companion for our family.
we had went in and we were looking at the birds i saw one i really liked, and the bird aloud me to pick her up and the employee aloud me to hold her i was so excited. then all of a sudden, the manager a woman, comes up and starts yelling at me in front of. all the customers because i put the bird on my shoulders she yelled DONT PUT THAT BIRD ON YOUR SHOULDERS THATS NOT OK AT ALL. uhh uhh ok i was so embarrassed all the customers were looking at me and i walked out.
whoever the manager woman is i would like to say your in the wrong proffesion why dont you do everyone a favor and not work with customers you are way to hostile, rude’ inappropriate, and the way you treated me was pathetic.

This way my first time her and I love it, workers are very kind. the thing that sucks about this place is that they charge to do nails, beak trim, and wings clip.

this place is really cool unique and strictly bird centered. from coca too to parrots to other bird species I don’t really know. this is the go to bird shop by the sample of customers I saw in there. place was packed. more of boutique catering to the bird community here then sterile big corporate bird cloning. everyone there seems very knowledgeable. I would come here to see the type of bird that fits who you are or just stop buy to check out the birds.

So I was looking for a new place and saw amazing reviews for this place. Feeling excited, I made my way down here from Koreatown. As said in multiple reviews, there are so many friendly and beautiful birds outside and not in their cages and I do really admire that.
However, as my two beautiful conures were getting their nails and beaks trimmed, I was very disappointed. The lady who was trimming my birds nails, made both of my birds bleed. She had a powder like thing right next to her and she applied it on multiple nails– I’m guessing she makes other birds bleed quite often. She told me that is was okay and that their hearts were beating faster so it was making them bleed even more.
I don’t understand how she could say that it was okay. I’m sure she wouldn’t like it if her nails were bleeding having pain when she would get her nails done.

Great place for bird people and the woman that work there know there stuff. I’m so glad I went there. The bird food is excellent. The prices are great. They also taught me a lot about my sun conure. very happy with their service

Really cool place! A lot of people come in just to play with the birds, and the employees don’t seem to mind as long as you sanitize your hands first! The birds are usually pretty friendly and social, but there are signs telling you to touch them at your own risk. I wanted to point out that David-​one of the employees working there-​was super friendly and helpful! He never stopped smiling, and he was attentive to the birds’ needs and the needs of the customers. Oh, and the birds here all seemed happy and healthy!

This is by far the best bird supply store I have ever been into.
ALL the birds are in EXCELLENT condition, and are very friendly. If you are looking for a certain species, or are unsure of what you want, just ask an associate and they are more than happy to assist.
They feed their birds excellent diets and have them all rotated out of their cages and socialized every day, and you are allowed to hold and pet them so that you can get to know the bird before you make your purchase.
They also have very decently priced food, and an excellent assortment of toys and cages for all sized birds.

I really enjoy visiting this place. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the birds all seem super happy and healthy :)

Fran has been great and we’ve developed this relationship over 23 years by buying and maintaining the tweeters from her shop. Some years back we’d had to deal with bird illnesses and Fran was right there to guide us in the diagnosis and treatment stages. She’d recommended local avian vets and this was a tremendous help. Not all vet’s/doctors are good but that is another story. The tweeter/​s have been great, Fran and her shop is an asset to fellow bird owners.
You’ll get a quality bird through her so big thumbs up. Just up to you on raising them well. Our Apricot caique (15 years) is loads of fun if not noisy when she wants something. ;)
Staff is helpful and the shop stocked with quality necessities and foods. Fran’s has been terrific to support her clients and we can rely on her when the need arises for any concerns.

My mom got my grandmother’s bird from Fran. They really seem to genuinely care about the birds. My mom said that Fran was very helpful.

This is a very clean store with a very knowledgeable, friendly and caring staff. They are quick to help you. I have had my parrot groomed there and they are very gentle in handling my bird and are able to keep her stress level down. I will continue to use them and highly recommend them.

By far the nicest people around! They carry everything we need for our Grey and when we call for a grooming appt. we can always get in right away. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We use them for boarding when we go out of town and do not have a friend available to watch our baby.

I came in recently to get my green cheek conure groomed. Everything went well and the groomer (younger guy, don’t know name.) was nice and gentle with our bird. He gave us some tips/​info also. I really appreciated that. We waited a while past our appointment time, but it’s understandable since there were many customers getting grooming also. We passed the time looking at and playing with the other birds.
Aside from today I’ve been in just to look at the birds, get treats and food and toys. They’ve always been welcoming. Definitely a place to check out if you’re a bird owner in the OC.

I purchased my two birds here. Fran had sold me on the Omars premium blend seed which my bird loves. Unfortunately, they have been out of seed the last three times I have come in for it. My last visit, 2÷10÷14 they were out again. I complained, the brunette girl in the side room was rude as heck saying «We don’t know when we will be getting any more seed in, Fran only bought 3 bags this week.» So again, off I go all the way to the El Toro Omars, an extra 40 minute drive. Haven’t seen Fran in the store much lately either, just kids who don’t care about customers needs. Even though I have spent thousands of dollars on my birds here and hundreds on seed and accessories in the past, being out of your most popular bird seed on 3 visits is just unacceptable. I guess I will have to take my business to Omars in El Toro from now on. They have NEVER been out of any seed.

We purchased our blue and gold macaw Charlie here 18 years ago. We have been feeding him magnolia bird farm large bill food mix for most of that time. However recently the bird started to show signs of poor health. The Omars staff brought this to my attention during a grooming visit. The staff gave me great advice to help improve his diet. I purchased some Harrisons pellets and Omars large bill mixed food. I also began to give him alcohol free Liquid Maitake mushroom extract and only a very very small amount, ¹⁄₁₀ of a ml of liquid vitamin c to strengthen his immune system
Its been a month and half now and the weezing noises that he was making and labored breathing are now gone. Charlies personality has also changed back to way he was when he was younger his NRG is way way up, hes in and out of his activity box onto his perches and then onto my bed, from there he hops onto my desk where he then shreads important documents and then dances on my computer keyboard. The bird has also become more vocal and said I love you which I haven’t heard him say in years. Also Charlies posture has changed he stands taller with chest and his wings up.
I definitely recommend the omars large hookbill food mix and the harrisons pellets that they sell separately. Recommend mushroom wisdom alcohol free maitake mushroom extract 1ml/​day and KAL liguid c administered from syringe style dropper 1 ml full capacity only filled at .1 ml or ¹⁄₁₀ ml which is 50 times smaller than a teaspoon.
Also recommend harrisons healx omega 3 booster which I purchased online and came today, but this can be ordered at omars if needed.

This place is great! I bought my baby parakeet, pistachio here on December 30! the birds are socialized and clipped. Some are a little skittish and some may bite, but the customer service is outstanding! When I came in to look for a parakeet an employee went to the parakeet area and told me which ones were used to human contact. Turns out I picked the one she recommended and hes been great.
My bird showed «signs» of respiratory illness when he was at my house, I took him to the store and finally met Fran, who is an amazing person and really knows her birds. She examined him along with their tall male employee who was also very helpful. It turns out I read a little too much on birds illness and got paranoid and those «signs» were normal for babies. She taught me more about my bird and his body language. It was defiantly a learning experience.
I actually give this 4.8 out of 5 because of the selection of toys. Its not a huge selection and the price is what you’d expect at retail stores, a little pricey. Other than that I love Frans Exotic Birds! I will keep coming back!

If they gave 6 stars, I’d give it. Trying to find a good avian pet store is pretty hard. I’ve been to many. My Molucaan Cockatoo is about 28 years old. I’m here to tell you if you’re looking for an avian store, look no further than Frans Exotic Birds. My fist impression was how clean the store is. I buy a mixture of seeds for my bird and the self help bins always have fresh and clean seeds; nuts; dry fruits and other dried edibles. A great place to groom your birds. too. The birds they sell are happy, well fed and clean. They offer a bird ‘hotel’ which I haven’t used yet, but I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my bird at Frans if I was going on a trip.
Best of all is the customer service. Everyone is friendly. A couple of girls have been there for awhile and are very knowledgeable and if you’re lucky to catch Fran at the store, she doesn’t hesitate to share her knowledge. I liken her to a ‘bird talker’. I really think Fran has a special connection with the birds. She’s a very special woman who loves her business and shares her knowledge. She’s a nice person who makes you feel at home. I also make my birds grooming appointments with Fran. I know a lot about birds, but I’m always open to learning more, and I always do from Fran.
Bottom line. If you are looking for a place to buy food; toys; groom; house your bird. don’t look any farther than Frans Exotic Birds. Au revoir!

I have owned birds for over 20 years. I remember being curious about this store as long as 8 years ago when I took some summer classes at Cypress College across the street. But at the time, I already had 3 parakeets and didn’t need to be bringing home more feathered friends!
Fast forward to now, I am proudly owned by a green-​cheek conure. Unfortunately, I had to put my parakeet to sleep this past weekend and my fiancé and I were heartbroken. Not to mention our poor conure was wondering where her little buddy was. It was way too quiet in the house… we needed to bring some new life home. I was pleased to see this place had received such good Unilocal reviews. So my fiancé and I visited the store to pick out a new baby to bring home.
I was overwhelmed with joy when I entered the store. These people clearly care greatly for their birds. They are all beautiful and well-​cared for. The store is spotless. You just can’t be in a bad or sad mood around that many happy birds! After walking around the store and meeting (and having some conversations!) with the bigger birds, we focused in on the parakeets. We were very pleased to learn that even the parakeets had been hand-​raised and were all super tame. When I reached in to pick up a parakeet, many of them ran around and away from me in their comical velociraptor-​like way, however one looked up at me and hopped right onto my hand. She wanted to be immediately cuddled by both my fiancé and I. We were smitten.
All birds in the store have been checked for diseases to make sure they are completely healthy. (We still did have our new little one checked out at the Vet just to be 100% sure before we introduced her to our GCC, as they don’t have certificates to certify this, at least for the parakeets). Our new baby’s reports came back totally clean.
We will definitely be coming back to this store, not only for our birds, but for a boost of joy!
