Had to take my son to Childrens’ Hospital for a follow-up and we finished around 11:30 so I called my mom who works off W Commerce to see if I could swing by with her grandson. Arrived at my mom’s job and said«hi» to her boss then we got down to the business of where to eat. Jane,(boss lady) suggested a taqueria nearby where she had some delicious chile rellenos which I am not a fan of but tacos are always a yes for me! It started raining so I had to wait in the conference room while my mother drove up the street to pick up her order. A cool little fact about this place: you can call in your order and then pick it up. I suspect they only take cash but I could be wrong since I never actually went. When mom came back she said she forgot her cash but the woman was very sweet and let her take the food on the condition she come back with it later which I thought was pretty awesome. People from my mothers’ job order food from there an average of four times a week with herself included so please don’t expect this from the staff if it’s a first time visit. On to the good part! I had two simple tacos: brisket and Bistek on corn tortillas. It has been a very long time since I had the small tacos with the double corn tortilla and chopped bistek. These tacos looked and smelled like Déjà vu because I used to eat this type when I lived in Mexico. Limes were forgotten and so I ate them plain, just meat and tortilla because it’s only lime juice or nothing at all! The bistek meat was not greasy, had minimal amounts of fat and tasted pretty good(woulda been better with lime). The brisket tacos, I felt tasted better and the meat was softer but I did not enjoy the large chunks of pure fat and loads of grease! Next time I go, I will get my limes and just the brisket tacos(still like them) but I will be ready with lots of napkins to sop up the excess grease. I recommend this place despite the few shortcomings and bring some antacid.

There’s a quiet lunch counter in the back of the convenience store that serves pretty good but greasy tacos. It’s easily accessible from I-30 westbound but a little bit more cumbersome from I-30 eastbound. Gas here is overpriced but the taco’s are reasonable. $ 1 each. Get off on the Sylvan exit and it’s right there waiting for you. They serve breakfast tacos there too but I’m always running late so can’t stop. Not as good as Taqueria El Si Hay but convenient location makes up for it.
