I started TBC9 weeks ago. I needed something more than just going to the gym and getting on a treadmill and reading my book. I tried teaching myself to lift weights but then started getting too bulky and just tired of being alone. I wanted group/team exercise. Found this on a groupon deal and noticed it was just a few min from my home. I love it! I love everything about TBC. The people, the trainers, the workouts! So motivating! I did a reassessment after 8 weeks and I doubled my push-ups, sit-ups, burpees! I feel so much stronger and better! I recently made my 6 month commitment to TBC and if I stay in Dallas, I’ll continue to go. Thanks mike!

i assume i am the first to review this long-established boot camp because the devoted attendees are all busy doing kettlebell swings and admiring their biceps right now. transformation boot camp lives up to its mission– it’s a positive, intense experience that focuses on sustainability and motivation to change your body and the way you feel about fitness. and like any other self-improvement project, your results are based on your commitment. here’s some quick and thoroughly depressing background information about my level of fitness prior to tbc: i couldn’t run a mile. i could probably run from my bedroom to my kitchen, but would be unhappy about it. i had blood pressure so high it made stroke victims’ diastolic readings look functional. i could do about 1.5 pushups. i thought a burpee was a thing you gave to a fussy baby. in short, i was a total and complete waste of a musculoskeletal system. and maybe i did have a stroke, because one day randomly i googled boot camps in dallas and found tbc. during a halfhearted attempt to register, i entered my credit card billing information incorrectly and then decided i was actually too lazy to correct it and divine intervention by the typo gods was encouraging me to give up and eat wings forever instead. mike, the founder of tbc, literally called me while i was on my way to wingstop. he was friendly, upbeat, and somehow had received notification that some failure pile out there wasn’t able to register for boot camp successfully. he encouraged me to enroll, offering me a discount for my first camp. shamefacedly, and full of wings, i accepted and completed registration. it was one of the best decisions i’ve ever made. here’s what tbc has to offer: 1. no one yells at you. trust me, being raised by asian parents has made me a coward, and i was terrified of being called out for my less-than-impressive upper body strength. on the contrary, tbc is cheerful and positive, an absolutely motivating experience. also mike kind of looks like a buff version of paul rudd so obviously i strive to do my 1.5 push-ups well in an effort to impress him. 2. you set your own pace. the body types and physical fitness levels of the campers run a very wide range. yes, you will see beefy men carrying free weights that look like small boulders. but you will also see elderly, asthmatic, overweight, obese, and average people. no one will make you feel bad about going slower, say anything rude, or laugh when you do a zigzag run like you’re dodging bullets in grand theft auto(sup). 3. you learn a lot. there’s no set routine, no miserably boring stretches of cardio. there are always new drills and equipment to learn. some of it will be awful(sprinting while clutching an impossibly heavy bag of sand), some of it will be cathartic(brutalizing a tire with a sledgehammer and pretending it’s your exboyfriend’s face), some of it will be both(battle ropes!). i’ve certainly never been bored during boot camp. and now i can drop fitness terms like«chest flies» and«tricep pulldowns» into conversations in an effort to look cool(spoiler alert: i do not look cool, at all). 4. you feel awesome. for people wanting to lose a lot of weight, i’d advise them to research a keto diet. for people wanting to feel fit, healthy, and happy, i’d recommend boot camp. on days when i push myself harder than ever before, i leave feeling like i’ve survived a war. starting my mornings with such an accomplished, triumphant feeling is worth more than the extra hour of sleep. 5. your mileage will vary depending on the location you attend. last year, i started in mike’s camp at the dallas location and it set the bar very high. when i moved further north, i switched to the plano location, and it was an entirely different experience. although the instructor was friendly, the miniscule size of the class and the lukewarm efforts of the other campers made me feel like i didn’t have to try as hard. the level of energy wasn’t there, and i found myself much less motivated to attend. now i brave the longer drive and gross 635 construction to attend mike’s camp again, but it’s worth the effort– and definitely a 5 star experience at the dallas location.

DFW, I strongly encourage you to give thie Boot Camp a try. They are conveniently located throughout the metroplex area. They frequently have Groupon deals to help get you started. The workouts are quite motivational and you will quickly establish new friendships to help cheer each other on thoughout your weighloss journey. I highly recommend you give it a try!

I loved Mike and Transformation Boot Camp! I attended the morning session at Hillcrest and LBJ and thoroughly enjoyed the workouts. They were challenging but nothing that couldn’t be completed. I would have gladly become a lifetime camper had I not accepted a new job in a new state.
