History

Established in 1990.

While it is exciting and rewarding to renovate an historic structure and repurpose it for modern use, being able to design an inn from the ground up, specifically with guests’ enjoyment in mind, presents a wonderful opportunity. Such was the case with Blue Lantern Inn, built in 1990. Four Sisters Inns President Shelley Post was involved with the design and construction of Blue Lantern Inn at every phase, and her careful attention to detail shows. This property has always been part of the Four Sisters Inns collection, and it has been a favorite with visitors to the area from the very start.

The inn has timeless Nantucket styling and ambience — appropriate for a building overlooking Dana Point Harbor, named for Massachusetts native, seaman and author Richard Henry Dana, Jr. Guests enjoy glorious views from nearly every room, an on-site spa, fitness room and relaxing sitting areas, plus conference facilities ideal for small meetings.

Business Owner

Four Sisters Inns is a prestigious collection of 13 smaller boutique inns and hotels located in California.

It all began in 1976 when the Post family opened their home, the spectacular Green Gables Inn on the shores of Monterey Bay, to the public on a limited basis. Taken by the warmth of innkeeping, they refined hospitality to an art, carefully selecting inns for the collection. Each inn has to be very special: in architecture, history, location, and privacy. From city to country, the inns have become a haven for their guests.

Over time, we’ve created standards that help define Four Sisters Inns. Today, with locations in the most desirable regions of California, each inn combines inviting décor with exceptional service and amenities. With architecture ranging from Victorian to French country to Craftsman to Cape Cod Beach, Four Sisters Inns continues to serve its guests with grace and professionalism.
