History

Established in 2008.

Nova Geracao Davis is the original BJJ Academy in Davis, CA. We host the only competition program in Davis and have a proven curriculum for all ages of students. Nova Geracao is part of the multi-​time American National Championship BJJ Revolution Team and is a proud representative of the Carlson Gracie heritage.

NG Davis is a no nonsense, straightforward training program emphasizing fitness, family, loyalty, respect and honor in BJJ.

Nova Geracao Davis BJJ Academy is my second home. I have trained there for several years and it has changed my life. The owner and instructor is Michael Quigley and he is an excellent teacher and competitor. The black belts that come for seminars are top notch. Whether you want to join the competition team, or just want to learn techniques and get in shape, this is the best place to be.
I highly recommend you visit this gym and take a class to try it out, no matter what your experience in martial arts is. There is a Fundamentals Class 3x a week if you are a beginner, and also classes for competitors and advanced athletes. The children in the youth class are learning techniques and discipline while having loads of fun. And don’t use the excuse that you are «too old». There are a couple of us there who are in our 60’s.

I can’t say enough good things about Nova Geracao to do this academy justice. The quality of instruction and training sessions are world class. Every member is there to learn the «gentle art» and is willing to help out; attitudes and egos are checked at the door. New-​comers and visitors are always welcomed with open arms (due to Spider Guard pulling). The youth program is top notch and my 9 year old LOVES Nova Geracao, whose training led her to the podium with medal at the US Open this year and foresee many more medals under Nova Geracao in the future. Whether you train to compete or as a hobby, whether you want to learn self defense or want to shed a few pounds… Nova Geracao is the place.
