I’ve been taking two cars to Vander Hamm for maintenance work for many years and have always found them to be efficient, courteous and relatively low cost. I continue to support this business because I think they are the best in town, know my cars well and give excellent advice on problems to ignore or those that need to be addressed.

We’ve taken our cars to them for years — it has been great having someone trustworthy and honest to take your vehicles, after running into a series of outfits that looked for ways to expand their bills. The recommendations they give are based on what is best for you and not what is best for their profit margin.

Realizing that my car needed a oil change, I called around all the oil change locations in Davis and asked for pricing. Vander Hamm was the cheapest. It’s ridiculous to imagine some places were charging 100 bucks. –_​– I was absolutely estatic to know I’ll be saving a good chunk of change coming here. I called and made an appointment same day, and was literally in and out in about 30 minutes. That’s the fastest I’ve ever had an oil change.
This place has great service, EXCELLENT service, they get you in and out, and I appreciate that a lot. They were real professional, and honest. Honest is key when it comes to cars because not a lot of people know what they’re paying for when it comes to repairs. I had the pleasure of talking to one of the workers for a bit about the Sharks, always good talking sports with anyone. I highly recommend this place for any of your car needs, I’m definitely coming back!

Great service. I was driving through town and needed new tires, and Blaine and the rest of the crew were courteous, professional, and best of all, able to help me find the tires I needed for the lowest price. Best of all, they were able to squeeze me in that very afternoon to install them on my car! I’d recommend Vander Hamm to anyone in Davis looking for a mechanic.

Honest, honest, and honest. The most low key, not out to overcharge or lie to you auto place I’ve ever been to. I actually have gone against their recommendation and paid for new brakes when they told me I could wait because I’m over paranoid. I always trust them to tell me what my car needs, and not what would make them the most money.

These guys were great. Took care of my tire problem in less than 2 hours for a tire they didn’t have in stock. They even offered to drive the car to my work when it was done. Danny Falk and Blain White provided excellent customer service. Thank you guys!

I took my pristine Mercedes 240DL in for a tire rotation. Upon completion, i got in my car and realized they had punctured a hole in my leather seat. They never mentioned it to me, when I brought it to their attention, they immediately denied it. After much conversation, my husband noted an awl in the tire guys back pocket. Needless to say, they got to replace my leather seat. They were unprofessional about this issue and I will never return.

Still great! Since switching cars, I purchased 4 tires and Vander Hamm did an amazing job. I just sold this car and needed service invoices sent. Blain was really nice and had them faxed over the second I called him. Thanks again

These people are extremely friendly and professional. As a college student, I was not able to afford the tires they offered me after my flat. Fortunately, they were kind enough to give me a used tire place that could better suit my budget (Golden State Tires).
Best part, I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC FEE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!

I have been coming to this Goodyear location for the past 20 years and let me tell you this is by far the best place to get tires, an oil change, or have any repairs on your car done. Rich, Danny, and Blaine are the hardest working group and their service is beyond outstanding. I would highly recommend anybody to stop by and see what their five-​star service is all about.

Excellent service and very helpful with fixing my tire. They made sure that I could patch it vs. buy a tire. My total bill was 22.50 plus tax. Great guys here who do honest, top work!
I went to several other shops down the road on my way to Sacramento-​one refused to patch it and one yelled at me telling me I was wrong, but here at this shop in Davis, they worked with me and helped solve the problem reasonably and safely.
I would recommend them to anyone passing through town or local for tire issues.

As I was getting ready to leave for a trip to Berkeley I realized I had a low tire. Since we had just gotten back from a 900 mile drive I was worried we had picked up a nail or something. I drove over without an appointment and even though I could tell they were super busy they helped me out… even sending someone to Sacramento to get the 2 new tires I needed since the day’s delivery had already come in. And because Blaine wouldn’t sell me tires that were more expensive than I needed for my amount and type of driving. This honesty and caring customer service is what keeps us coming back year after year and gets them high marks for trustworthiness.

This is definitely one of THE BEST auto shops I have ever been to. I trust them with my vehicle and that is a rare thing to find nowadays. Their customer service cannot be beat, and it is always a welcoming environment when I visit! Blain is definitely a shining star here as he has been working there for the past 20+ years. He’s friendly, kind, and honest. He goes the extra mile to make sure you’re getting the best deal you can, and ensure that you are comfortable both with the work that is going to be done, and in their waiting room. It is really refreshing to have someone who is able to answer questions, and explain precisely why something needs to be done, or why it should be done a certain way. As opposed to just being told that x needs to be done because that’s the way it is! It really does make trusting them that much easier!
So glad I found this gem, and purchased tires with them because they are top notch!

I’ve been using a local BMW specialist for my auto work and while they are super friendly, it’s always some kind of mess. Vander Hamm is also super friendly, and the do the work right the first time. I will go out of my way to get my work done here in the future.

These people are just, amazing. I came in to get my tire fixed because it just exploded on the freeway. Here I am, some broke college student with no Idea about cars and I am Unilocaling all these places trying to figure out what to do.
I called around and this place quoted me the cheapest price.
I come in at about 1:10pm or so and the gentleman at the front was very nice and told me that they would take a look at my tire and see if they could fix it and pointed me out to the waiting area, which was actually very comfortable. About 5 minutes pass he comes by and lets me know that there was no way they could fix it and quoted me what they quoted over the phone to replace. (I knew my tire was not going to be fixable and was very happy he asked me before he started doing other work to it).
Around 1:20 he comes by and let’s me know that my car is good to go and I am all set, paid the man and my car runs perfect again.
I don’t think I have had great service like that in a while, and I work for customer service, I know genuine customer service when I see it.
Since then I have not had any problems with my car and everything is as it should.
This placed turned my horrible experience into a great one!
I will definitely be coming here all the time, and coming back soon to replace the rest of them!

This is hands-​down the best auto shop I’ve ever patronized.
For me, the biggest issue when it comes to auto care is trust. Without much car expertise, one has to believe the service provider more than in most routine commercial dealings.
The Vander Hamm guys have been really honest with me. Once while getting an oil change, I told them I thought the cabin air filter might need replacement. Slam dunk for them, right? When I returned for the car, they said they checked the filter and it didn’t need replacement. They have never pitched more service than I asked for.
Besides that, their prices are reasonable, the work seems good and timely, and they are unassuming guys who make the atmosphere quite comfortable.

I had a low tire so called Vander Hamm when they opened at 7 a.m. to see if I could bring it in to get checked. I was told that the guys start rolling in at 8 a.m. I arrived around 8, took care of the paperwork, took a seat in the waiting area and before I could read a chapter in my Kindle the screw that caused the leak had been found and the tire repaired. I was on my way and able to make my 9 a.m. aerobics class with time to spare.
A one star deduction to four stars for them having purged their database since the last time I was there. I’ve bought five tires there and have had maintenance done, but I guess the last time I was in was 2009 and that’s too long for them. What can I say, I don’t drive the car much.
