I’ve been going here since I first moved to Dayton 10 years ago. The place was never exactly Carnegie Hall, but I have always enjoyed it. It’s an inexpensive way to be entertained on an otherwise boring day. The problem is the other clientele. I don’t know how to say this nicely: some of the customers are just plain trashy. Like the time I saw a dude sitting a few rows up rolling a joint. Or the couple who sat in the back and openly did inappropriate things with each other. Or the group of kids who came in halfway through a movie loudly talking and using their cellphones as the movie played(my boyfriend and I were so mad we walked out of the movie and got our money back). Overall, it’s a good place for what it is. Just don’t be shocked if you end up sharing a movie with a customer who belongs in a zoo.

I don’t know why a previous review claimed the staff was a bunch of jerks. My experiences at this theatre has been exactly the opposite. The ATM wasn’t working right for me one time. I informed the guy working the ticket booth. He politely apologized and went to get a manager to see if they could do anything. That’s great service. Especially considering the ATM doesn’t technically belong to them. They couldve just blown me off and said too bad. The gal at the concession stand has always been friendly and polite as well. They only take cash which can be annoying sometimes, cause who carries cash anymore. The theatre rooms aren’t as nice & new as some other theatres like Rave, but of course that’s to be expected at a dollar saver theatre. Of course the movies are a little older that current releases, but I assume everybody already knows that. It’s great for movies that I kind of wanna see in a theatre but don’t feel like dropping $ 10 per ticket. Now I can spend $ 3 and I don’t feel ripped off if the movie sucks. It’s also great for kid movies. My 4 year old doesn’t know that Cars 2 or Kung Fu Panda 2 has already been out for awhile. He’s just as excited to see it at the dollar saver as he would be anywhere else. And I’m more excited cause it’s only costing me $ 9 instead of $ 30!

This place is staffed with jerks and cleaned by idiots apparently. The lady at the concession stand looked at my mother and I like we were being such a bother in making her do her own job. I surely didn’t want to interrupt the(what I’m sure was just a positively deathly important) conversation she was having with the listless(who was probably a janitor) employee, but being such an unreasonable person, I forced her to do her job and charge us unknowingly for a 4 dollar small coke plus our tickets. The theatre was a wreck and the bathrooms were ghastly. Trust me, wait a little longer and get it from Netflix or Redbox.

It’s great seeing a good movie for less, but it’s even better seeing a bad movie for pocket change. When I see a terrible movie for $ 13, I feel like a chump. Going to the Danbarry makes you chump-feeling-proof. «Ha!» you can say, «They didn’t get profits from me!» Danbarry Dollar Saver in South Dayton is clean with decent seats and a huge concession stand. It is absolutely worth waiting to see a second run movie for $ 3($ 1.75 on Tuesdays). Huber Heights has a 3D projector(+$ 2 for 3D). I expect the South Dayton location will be getting one soon. It’s worth it. You should go.
