History

Established in 1999.

The American Jewelry Institute was formed in 1999 by president and CEO Richard J. Malerba, G.G., Member NAJA. The company represents the culmination of many years of experience in various aspects of the jewelry industry. Today the company’s services focus on advising and educating our clients about the complex and often mysterious world of fine jewelry and gems. We conduct workshops, seminars and appraisal events throughout the US. The appraisal services of the company have grown to become the centerpiece of our business. Capital investment and the hiring of quality gemologists has propelled the American Jewelry Institute to new heights. We would like to thank all of our past and future clients.

Business Owner

Richard Malerba is the principal and senior appraiser for the American Jewelry Institute, LLC. He is a third generation jewelry professional with over 25 years of related experience. His areas of expertise include gemological & appraisal services, publishing, teaching, designing and manufacturing. He has well established working relationships with many professionals affiliated with the most prestigious global jewelry and jewelry related institutions. Mr. Malerba consults with large and small clients alike assisting them in determining their valuation needs for Insurance, estate planning and other purposes.

Mr. Malerba has built his reputation over the past two decades by providing the highest level of personalized customer service, accuracy, efficiency and discretion. Many of his client’s include well known and high profile persons who require the diligent safeguarding of their privacy. In this regard he has personally appraised and evaluated over one billion dollars of fine jewelry.
