Wild Oats & Billy Goats is a whimsical and colorful folk art gallery located on the square in downtown Decatur, GA offering paintings, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, hand-​sewn and wearable art, woodcarvings and hand-​crafted gifts by local and regional artists.

History

Established in 2010.

The gallery was founded in 2010 by Hugh and Weatherly Copenhaver, in a desire to bring folk art to the already established and wonderful art community of Decatur.

Very cool indoor craft market. Unique iyems made from many recycled or reclaimed materials. Several local artists featured. You can find anything from soap to jewelry, glass to painting and unique sculptures. If you are in Decauter I recommend a browse.

Listen girlfriend: this shop has it all, except edibles, but you’re in Decatur & a biscuit is never far from reach. You need to high-​tail it to see the Wild Goats & their art! I mean, who wouldn’t want FABULOUS art from over LOCAL 250 artists?! Don’t be daft & get yourself some craft. Okkrrr? You can thank me later.

CUTE STORE, GREAT VIBE
I love the name of this store, it is just so cute. It is just a mix of handmade art, jewelry, pottery, gifts, home décor items and other random items. It is definitely the place to go if you are looking for something cute and quirky for your home or a special gift for someone. The staff is really friendly and if you don’t know what to get, I am sure they will make suggestions and help you to explore the options.

It’s a toss up between Homegrown and this place as my favorite shop like this, I feel
Wild Oats gets the edge with the paintings from local artists. But all in all I really like this place & will usually get something for my house when I stop in here. Staff has always been super nice & helpful, and if your looking for something that’s a little off beat that your friends and family will enjoy this is your spot. It’s also right up the street from Brick Store or Sweet Melissa’s so you can eat and then shop.

I love this place! I’ve never been able to walk in this store and NOT buy something. It is uniquely curated and the perfect place to buy a unique piece for your home or gift. Even if you don’t purchase anything it is a wonderful shop to walk through that has new items for sale every week! The staff are also very kind and always seem to go out of their way to connect with the customer.

We were in town for the Decatur Beer event and we stumbled across this gem in town. What a great store with lots of art to choose from. We picked two items and since we weren’t quite ready to go home, the shop keeper offered to ship the items home to us. Sure enough, the items arrived the day after we got home and we love the pieces that we selected. The store sells genuine Georgia items.

We did a painting folk art work shop which some of us are leery about. However, it was an awesome time. I would highly recommend going there and asking for Bethany.
Make sure to BYOB and food/​snacks as well.

I just attended one of the studios that they have. It was amazing. Even if you don’t think you are an artist just walking around the gallery will inspire you and you get to use that inspiration to create a piece. Bethany makes you feel welcome when you walk in the door. The owners Hugh and Weatherly were there as well this time because of the Beach Blast that was going on in the street in front of the gallery. They take the time to answer all of your quesitons about any of the artwork and worked with us to make our pieces of art, giving suggestions for the best ways to apply certain components when you asked how to do something. You can tell they all love what they do.
The gallery itself is amazing. Beautiful colors and amazing pieces of art. All unique and made out of stuff you ordinarily wouldn’t think art could be made of. Truly inspirational. Visiting Wild Oats and Billy Goats made me want to visit Decatur more often.

This little shop is delightful! The art is friendly + accessible + unique. Shop is full of treasures that are surprisingly affordable. I can’t wait to go back next time i need to buy a gift or want to be inspired. LOVED it.

Cool little shop. If you are looking for that one «weird, artsy, bright» art piece, check out this place. Even if you don’t buy something, the store will make you smile and something will trigger a memory from your child hood.
It is definitely worth a visit and I would be shocked if you didn’t buy something.

Pack up your imagination and head over to an amazing place. My son recently had his 10th birthday party with these fine folks. They were top notch. Please support this local gallery and shop there, party there, or just go by and check out their collection on fun, funky folk art. Best bang for the buck birthday party I have ever hosted… all our guests would agree. The owners, and staff made our little fellows birthday great. Not to mention the piece of art we have displayed in our home as a reminder of turning 10 (no plastic bag of junk as a party favor) a treasure to enjoy for a lifetime. Thank you Weatherly and Staff for a great party!
