So sad that this place has closed down. Their vegetarian pizza was actually BETTER than the one at the Athens Restaurant that is up the street **sigh**.

I ordered a 16″ Athens specialty pizza(Feta cheese, pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green pepper), along with a few sides. The toppings were piled on heartily. The vegetables were still crisp, just the way I like it. And it’s hard to complain about flavor, what with all that salty Feta cheese, meat, and spice. But, the crust! Oh, what a miserable crust. The dry areas were delicious enough, with a bit of a tang, but the rest? Soggy and watery, falling apart, and sticking to the box. I’m not always one to demand a slight char on my crusts, but I don’t want a pile of mush, either. The baklava wasn’t the very best I’ve ever had, but it was pretty good. And, hey, it’s a pizza place, not a bakery. And who can complain about baklava, anyway? It offered me a great deal of comfort following the mushy-crust ordeal.

We ordered Athens Pizza for the first time last night. The pizza was just OK. It didn’t seem as flavorful as some other local places. The delivery was fast and our driver was very friendly and courteous. It was pretty cheap, too, thanks to a coupon I found on the cover of the Savvy Shopper. We didn’t have traditional Greek toppings, so that might have been part of the reason I was underwhelmed. Not the worst pizza I’ve ever had but not the best, either.

This is the best takeout pizza in Atlanta! Period! Order a large pizza and Greek salad and you’ll be in Santorini heaven. Feta cheese, pepperoni, green peppers and kalamata olives on this delectable pizza are too die for. Not a restaurant, but a take-out and delivery operation.

This is the best pizza I’ve had around the N Druid Hills/Decatur area. Great hot pizza, good size, good crust, and a nice selection of greek themed toppings when you want something just a little bit different.

We tried this place the other night. Haven’t tried the delivery since my honey went to pick it up, but it was ready pretty quickly. We had the«Athens Special — ATHENSORIGINAL Feta Cheese, Pepperoni, Hamburger, Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions & Green Peppers». It was really tasty… good fresh ingredients. Only downside for me was that the thin crust was soggy pretty quickly and stuck to the box. But whatev, still palatable. I’m sure we’ll be ordering here again!

Privately owned by a local Greek restaurateur and located in an old Arby’s building, this place has a great atmosphere. The business used to be owned by the Papadopoulos family of Athens Pizza House, but was sold to business parter and current owner George Vasilos a number of years ago. The pizza, however, is still made the same way. The produce is hand-selected by the owner from the Forest Park Farmer’s Market each week, and since most of it is grown in the southeast it stays fresh much longer than typical produce. The exclusive blend of spices in the pizza sauce is unbeatable, and a pizza on a fresh-made crust will make your day. Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, handmade hamburger and Greek gyro slices are some of the meat offerings, and feta cheese, artichoke hearts, spinach, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and kalamata olives are available along with more ordinary vegetable toppings. The garlic breadsticks are made from the pizza dough, and the baklava and spanikopita(spinach pie) are picked up from the International Bakery, which specializes in Greek pastries and baked goods. Most of the employees have been working at this location for over 2 years and love what they do. They are friendly and usually cheerful. Many of them are also experienced with handling large orders for various Emory University groups, which makes them unshakable when business is busy or orders are large. The reason I know all this is because I’ve worked here almost 4 years now on the weekends, and I’ve found that the best jobs are the ones where you can walk in mad or sad, but always leave smiling… and Athens Express is definitely one of those places.

Not my #1 pizza place, but Athen’s makes a pleasant pie. My roommates and I have ordered from here a few times, taking advantage of the free delivery. The cheesy, thick pizza is extremely filling. We’ve also ordered Greek salads, which are tasty but fail in comparison to a hot piece of pizza. This is a refreshing change from the typical Papa John’s. If you live in the area you should give it a try.

Hands-down the best pickup/delivery pizza you can get in the Emory area. I don’t know what their secret is, but the cheese, sauce and crust are all delectable and the quality of the toppings is top-notch. It’s like they’ve solved the equation for the perfect delivery pie. No frills here, just those great Greek-style pies with the standard topping selection, a few appetizers and desserts such as pints of Ben & Jerry’s and a nice, dense baklava. The spanakopita, which for some reason they refer to as «spinach pie,» is a nice, somewhat greasy accompaniment to a pizza order, and the wings — succulent on the inside, crisp and browned on the outside with lots of spicy, dripping sauce — are out of this world. This is the one pizza delivery joint I have on quick dial.
