We have 40 craft beers and ciders on tap for filling your growlers and we give free samples! We also carry a wide selection bottled craft beers and best of all you can mix and match any of the bottled beers!

We are a family owned and operated craft beer and growler store located in the Emory and Decatur areas.

Growlers are 32 or 64 oz. size brown glass bottles that can be filled with fresh draft beer, taken home, enjoyed and brought back to our beer store empty to refill again and again. We have growler bottles available for purchase or bring your own. We accept and will fill all competitors’ growlers.

Our bottled beer is available in four packs, six packs or individually. Build your own six pack to try a variety. We love to support local breweries and have many brands always in stock.

We strive to give you excellent customer service and a premium quality assortment of excellent craft beers. Come in and let us help you pick out a beer that is just right for you!

History

Established in 2013.

We provide a welcoming environment and a rewarding experience to anyone who stops in – from the as yet uninitiated looking to have some fun to the craft beer aficionado. Lance, our founder, is on hand to share his passion for all things craft beer. He, and our knowledgeable staff members, all avid hobbyists themselves, are thrilled to help you select the beer that’s right for you and there is no better way to choose your beer than tasting it… with FREE samples… every time you pay us a visit.

We have been craft beer lovers for many years but it was not until a visit to our son in Bend, OR that we found out about the Growler movement. We visited close to 10 breweries or brew pubs within a few minutes walk of our son’s home and had a great time sampling beer and taking home growlers.

When we returned home we found out that Growler sales had just been legalized in Georgia. A business was born!

Lance grew up in the Emory area and Tess graduated from Emory University so our location near Emory and Decatur was a natural. Decatur is a great beer town and it’s fantastic to be near Emory.

We are excited to bring the finest craft beers, ciders and even a soda or two to the Emory and Decatur areas.

Possibly my favorite growler store in the city. The owner is AWESOME! Knowledgeable, super friendly, always helpful… love the man. The selection is really a cut above most of the other growler stores. Depth, variety and just some really interesting pours. Visiting is an education and he is happy to help steer you toward your own personal beer nirvana. They also have a wide selection of bottled product. A great, great place to get your growler on!

We love Lance! He’s always ready with some great new beers and knows exactly what we’d like to try the moment we walk in; something hoppy that will strip the tastebuds for my husband, something crisp and citrusy for me, and of course, root beer for our kid! He’s always eager to try to get things on tap that no one else has yet and encourages customers to bring him their requests. With the recent addition of a larger beer fridge, we can now stop in to grab a 6-​pack of something we love when we don’t have time to run home and grab our growlers. If you live in or near Decatur, this is the best place to go to stock your fridge for Game Day!

Great selections of beers, all employees encountered are very knowledgeable and helpful on selections, and reasonably priced. The retail center they’re located in is a bit tough to get out of with traffic on occasion, but it’s worth the trip. Recommend you try it!

I’ll drive out of my way to come here. There is another growler location near my house but I’ll gladly drive a little further to come to Taps. Lance, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable on all things beer and is super friendly to boot. The selection of beers to me is WAY better than what I’ve found at other Growlers stores (and I’ve been to them all). Sure, there aren’t 100 different beers on tap like some other places, but that’s because he skips the crappy ones! The beer selection is well thought out and will typically represent some good local brewers. Lance has even «loaned» me some growler bottles when I’ve stopped by after work and forgot my empty bottles at home. Now for the cherry on top. Taps has an excellent rewards club that can get you free growlers or discounts on purchases. Don’t worry about bringing in a rewards card because everything is in the system. He just types in your name and you’re good to go. For me, they’ve earned a lifelong customer.

Taps and Lance are amazing. I have come here for three years during my time at Emory, and he’s been so welcoming and knowledgable about the beer options on tap. The takeovers and brewery hosting were awesome events. Definitely recommend this place to everyone, those who do and don’t like beer.

Great concept and selection. Owner is a good guy and he is super helpful. Be sure to grab the insulated growler rather than just the standard glass one; it’s worth the extra money. I’ll be back next time I’m in Atlanta.

Sooo, the guys at Taps know me better than I know myself? Apparently. While in Atlanta visiting a friend, we stopped here to fill a few of his growlers with this newfangled craft beer type stuff. The second I walked in, the owner (forgot his name) said I looked like a whiskey drinker and immediately poured me a sample. He then asked if I liked IPAs or lagers and poured me yet another sample, more fitting than the last, all while talking about the history of Taps.
Did my friend call ahead in an attempt to impress me? Was I wearing a sign on my back or a whiskey stain on my shirt? Either way, these guys are incredibly professional and passionate (KNOWLEDGEABLE) about what they do. He overheard my friend and I talking about breweries and recommended a few in the area. He even threw in a pity growler at no charge, seeing as I was such a rook.
Maybe it’s time to put down the Busch and TAP into my inner craft beer loving self. Great job, guys!

The owners are very knowledgeable and give excellent recommendations. They were out of one of my favorite beers and the owner was able to suggest another great beer.
We used to live in the area but had to move outside the city. This place is worth the drive. Good quality beer, great selection, and great prices.

I love this place. It’s within walking distance from my current residence so I trek over here every couple weeks to refill my growlers. If you don’t have a growler yet, you really should get one. It’s cost effective, fun, and delicious. You’ll never go back to the old stuff. Taps is especially great because of the people who work there. You don’t need to be a seasoned beer fanatic to enjoy a craft beer. Lance has a knack for figuring out what kind of beers you might enjoy given your tastes. The award program is an added bonus.

Lived just up the street for over a year and ashamed that I just visited Taps for the first time.
The beer selection is extensive, the staff had fantastic suggestions, and the price is as fair as it gets for quality beer.
Signed up for their Rewards membership, which means a free growler after $ 150 spent.
Seems like they always have brew reps, raffles, and promotions going on too.
Best growler spot In Atlanta.

When I still lived in Atlanta, I was very excited and happy to see this place open up right across the street from where I lived. A small, unassuming place, the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. They know their stuff, and I always felt like I could ask lots of questions to find the beer I’d enjoy. You can sign up for a free membership (you don’t have to carry a rewards card), so you can rack up points and get deals. One of the best things about this place (or this kind of place, I suppose) is that you can buy a growler, this big glass jug that’s either 32oz or 64oz, and fill it up with whichever beer you choose. They seal it for freshness, put a tag to remind you what beer it is, and you can finish it at your leisure — though they recommend finishing it within a day or two of opening, and a week of purchasing. When you go back to TAPS, don’t forget your growler, which they’ll clean and wash out for you.
Parking here is great, although coming out of the N. Decatur and Clairmont intersection can be annoying.

This is now our regular place to get beer! The owners are so approachable, friendly, knowledgeable, and they have a great sense of humor! We always come in and have a chat with them, try out a few of the new beers, and then exchange our used growlers for a nice and clean one full of deliciously cold draft beer.
They always have fresh, new beers whenever we come in. They also have a reward system as well that’s computerized, and you can get $ 15 off of a growler if you spend a certain amount (I think $ 150).
It’s just $ 5 when you get your first growler there (as a deposit) and then every time you come back, you just exchange your growler for one of their clean ones! :)

Visited Taps for the first time last night and picked up growlers of Founders Imperial Stout and a Rogue IPA.
They have a great selection of local and national beers on tap. With their samples, you can try something new but still be sure to walk out with something you’ll really like.
Their selection of bottles is not quite as large as some other stores but it’s carefully chosen. If you live or work anywhere close to Emory, this will be your best choice for craft beer 9 times out of 10.

Taps is owned and staffed by very nice people. The store has an above average selection. Unfortunately this spot is seriously over-​priced. You will struggle to find anything on the menu that you can not buy much much cheaper in bottles, bombers, 750s, or cans. The limited edition draft only beers are also substantially more expensive than the competition. Do not take my word for it, make the short trip to Ale Yeah or Greene’s to compare prices. The selection of bottles is good and more reasonably priced.

Great selection of beers, and the fact that I do not have to carry a rewards card to get credit for my purchase has earned my repeat business. The owner, Lance, is a pretty friendly guy and definitely has knowledge about beers. I look forward to coming back.

I wandered over to Taps last week to check it out. We are on the «other side of town» (you know, as much as Decatur gets that distance) so we’re usually Green’s/Ale Yeah/​Oakhurst Market purchasers but always ready to try something new. I was really pleased to see that their smaller than Ale Yeah stock of bottled beer wasn’t just the exact same stock as we have over here and had several things that were quite new and exciting looking! Even better, you can mix and match to get a six pack of what you want to try– I was pleased as punch to try a mixture of Woodchucks since I didn’t need to buy more than six bottles.
Taps is an apt name since they have about a million (OK, only 40) beers on tap and a smaller stock of bottled beer. One of the best things about this place is that you can sample three before you get an entire growler worth of something you may not be crazy about. I’ve had growlers that I didn’t care for and had to choke down, and I think it’s really awesome that you have the opportunity to not waste your money.
The folks who were there were crazy friendly, very knowledgeable, and filled me in on all the beers currently on tap, what they expected to be coming up in the near future, and gave some solid recommendations based on what I purchased.
As I was leaving, my car decided to act up– the gentleman behind the counter (I assume he’s Lance, the owner) came out and assisted me, having apparently experienced the same sort of issue with his own POS car at one point.
Overall, it’s totally worth an extra couple minutes on the drive and is an amazing addition to the beer selection in the Decatur; they will definitely fit in nicely and I hope they can flourish!
