Everything about this neighborhood bicycle shop is terrific. I bought my bike from them and bring it in for A tuneup every year. Anytime I need to stop in for air in the tire or a small adjustment, they do so with a smile and great efficiency. Highly recommended!

My bike was way overdue for a good tune-​up, so I took it downtown to Kozy’s, so find out how much it would cost me. The mechanic looked at it, and said the bike needed a new chain, a new cable, a new cassette, and a few other things. The total cost would be about $ 240. I thanked him, and took it back to Deerfield Cyclery, which is right around where I live. I asked them how much would it cost to get it in good shape, and they told me that it just needed the annual tune-​up, which costs $ 89. I asked them– «Are you sure it doesn’t need a new chain, or any other parts?», and they said «Nope, it just needs a good tune-​up». So I left it with them, and I just picked it up, a week later. The bike looks just like new– they thoroughly cleaned all the parts, oiled up everything, and the bike is riding as smoothly as when I first bought it.
I highly recommend this place– they performed an excellent service on my bike, without trying to sell me additional parts and things that were not necessary. I am taking it back there for sure next year! Thank you, guys!

These guys did a great job! Brought in a bike for repair. They had it done in a day, with a fair price and didn’t try to sell me anything else or upgrade the bike.

My husband took his bike in to get new tires and not only was the service fast they were also extremely helpful! My husband told them about a trailer we had purchased at a garage sale but never used because we weren’t sure how to use it. They told my husband bring it in and took the time to look it over to be sure it was safe and showed my husband how to use it, going above and beyond. A truly wonderful neighborhood store!

If 6 stars were possible, I’d give it to Deerfield Cyclery. When purchasing my first road bike, their focus was on listening to my objectives and skill level. Then they matched the perfect bike for me. A Giant Defy 2. They didn’t try to up-​sell which another store tried to do (a turn off). On the contrary, it was bike to rider fit first.
As my road cycling passion grew, they helped with selecting a trainer. I would ask Greg for cycling DVDs to help develop during the off season. He would ask for my objectives and a week later the best fitting spinning DVD would arrive.
After I slightly damaging l my bike, Greg gave great advice on waiting to fix the cosmetic problem (broken shifter cover) until the upgrade components I desired were on sale. The cost wouldn’t be that much different and would get a better riding experience. Nice: A shop owner forgoing the quick sell in favor of a down the road better value for the customer.
I’ve achieved my cycling goals due to Deerfield Cyclery.

This is the second review i have written about Deerfield Cyclery. Greg and his team are the best. I recently purchase another bike and could not be happier. Greg always go above and beyond from the purchase to the fit. I would highly recommend Deerfield Cyclery.

This is where you want to buy your bikes. You don’t want to buy your bike from a factory store, or from a large corporate entity with hundreds of stores, and if you’re a serious rider, you don’t buy them from a big box sporting goods store.
Buy bikes from a nice, individually/​locally owned bike shop, where the owner grew up around bikes, his Dad owned a bike store, there’s a permanent odor of chain lube and tire rubber and they are passionate about their customers.
That describes Greg, the owner of Deerfield Cyclery and describes his store and their attitude. Yesterday I purchased a new cyclocross bike from Greg and the experience couldn’t have been better — he gives you the fullest attention, his fitting process is fantastic, he gives a fair price and you just flat WANT to do business with him and his store.
People like Gregg, and stores like Deerfield Cyclery are harder and harder to come by in our world. Support them, and they support us. Fortunately, the folks at this bike shop give you every reason in the world to buy from them.

Definitely not the best place I have been to. I dropped off my bike for a complete check up, since I have not had lots of time to use it and was going to start using it to commute to work. Everything in the beginning was OK, i mean I just asked for a complete check up and got an estimate of when it will be done. So no big deal. The people I talked to were nice and all, but the quality of the work was not as good as I expected. They did replace some things and fix some minor issues I had with the the bike. But for $ 150 i expected them to at least adjust my derailleurs so the chain does not rub and make sure all the bolts were tightened. First ride around after I got home I shifted through all me gears and saw that my chain was rubbing. That’s not a big issue, I can fine tune that stuff myself. The problem was that whoever inspected my wheels, did not tighten the quick release on the front tire and when I hopped a curb the front wheel rolled out from the frame and I nearly wiped out in the middle of the street. If the road was busy I would have gotten flatten. If I had test rode it in front of their store I would definitely not be alive to write this review.

These are the go to guys for bicycles in Deerfield. Whether you need to buy a bike or you’d just like to have a small repair done — they have everything you need.
Recently began riding again, in earnest, after a few decades off. They were patient with my questions and well-​stocked with answers! My favorite «answer» thus far was a set of panniers that has proven so all around indispensable that I marvel that I lasted so long without them.

Helped me out after hours. Hours are still too short, but much appreciated.

I’m not sure how Deerfield Cyclery has received negative reviews. I met the owner (Greg) when he came to our corporate office to educate on biking. Since that meeting, I’ve been to his shop 3 times and without question have found Greg and his team to be THE most educated of all cycle shops that I’ve visited (and I’ve seen many). His team is wonderfully educated about bikes and spends the time to make sure you buy a bike that is suited to your needs. Once purchased Greg performs a 30 minute bike fitting that ensures that all adjustments are fit to your body. The service level is outstanding, as is the technical advice. I’ve driven by Deerfield Cyclery many times and never ever thought to stop in. Now that I have, I will never buy a bike from another shop. There is no question in my mind that you will not receive better service than with Greg and his team. I would highly recommend visiting.

My husband and I were in the area visiting so we decided to check this place out. The shop owner, Greg was there and all I can say is «WOW»! He is so knowledgable and so helpful. My husband rides a lot but, because I’m a beginner, I don’t know much about parts etc. Greg really took the time to explain things to me and helped me understand exactly what I needed to be doing in order to become a better rider. I really appreciated his time and definitely recommend this place to anyone… especially if you’re a new or beginning rider!

I’ve been frequenting Deerfield Cyclery since I moved up to this area in 2009, and have always found the store and service superlative. I purchased a road bike from the owner Greg back in 2010 and he did a fantastic job of making sure I was not only fitted properly to the bike, but happy with every aspect of the purchase. He went out of his way to ensure my previous road bike was adjusted so as to maximize the fit on that bike as well, and put a new stem on it; which greatly improved my cycling position and comfort.
Since then my wife purchased a road bike from Deerfield Cyclery this February, and she also had an extremely positive experience with her own bike fitting and purchase. Greg is not only capable and accommodating, but conducts his business with a high degree of professionalism.
Highly recommended.

In Deerfield it feels like the cult of this store is a right of passage into the community. I went here with my daughter who is a very timid rider and the staff could not be bothered to be helpful or even nice to her. The employee who was helping us was almost snobby as to the inferiority of all other options. The recommend bike wasn’t girly enough so she wanted another option to that the staff was very cold and said we may want to go look at other places.

So I go and drop my bike off on a Thursday, about a week and a half ago. It is really a 10 minute job for someone who knows what they are doing (put new pedals (mine are cracked) and put the chain back on (mine broke). I mentioned that I think one of the gears is bent and the man at the repair stand said they all look fine to him and he’ll just put on a new chain. I ask them how soon I can get it, they said Monday.
So I call on the following Monday to see what their hours are and if the bike is ready. I tell them I’ll pick it up in a week as I won’t be able to make their hours. Fast forward to yesterday when I go pick up the bike.
I pay and they hand me the bike. I am walking it out of the store when I notice that the pedals are still the same broken ones I came in with and the tires are not filled up. As I am returning the bike so they can do the service that I paid for, I found another issue. They did NOT put a chain on the bike. Thats right folks. I paid them money for a service, called to ensure the bike was ready for me to pick up, and when I pick it up they didn’t do anything.
Well they say it will take 10 minutes to do it all (as opposed to when I brought it in and they said it will take them 4 days (Thursday afternoon to Monday afternoon). Then the guy said he sees that the chail falls off at the lowest gear and needs to make an adjustment. For this he charges me an extra $ 10. 10 minutes later he said he cannot do this fix and that he can block that gear. I did not get my $ 10 back that he charged me to fix the fact that it falls off the gear.
Next time I need service I’ll have to think long and hard if I want to come here or not. The only reason this gets 2 stars is that I finally have a working bike again and once they did the work it seems like a good job.

I’ve been buying and repairing my bike at Deerfield Cyclery since I was a kid! The owner, Greg, is very friendly and is always willing to take time out of his busy day to help everyone in the store. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised each time I visit the store by how well Greg has done with the hiring of his younger staff members. I feel comfortable asking any bicycle questions to every staff member at the store and the prices are always competitive with the big stores that offer no service to you at all! I will continue going to Deerfield Cyclery no matter how far away I live from the store. Highly recommended!

I recently purchase bikes for my kids. I purchased a Trek for my son from Deerfield Cyclery, and a Specialized for my daughter from another bike shop.
I will say that my experience with Deerfield Cyclery has been poor in comparison with the other shop. Both bikes came with a free adjustment. In the case of the other shop, I dropped the bike off on a Saturday and picked it up an hour later. With Deerfield Cyclery, I was told by the kid at the counter that they did not do weekend tune ups and that I would have to leave the bike and pick it up the following week.
Finally, I have found the staff at Deerfield Cyclery to be inexperienced and not very helpful.
I would recommend that you select another shop where the owner is present on the weekend to answer your questions and repair your bike.
