Description

Specialties

WE are a traditional English-owned British Pub and Restaurant, specializing in British and American cuisines. The pub was built in 1863 in London and transported to Delray Beach in 1996. All of the outside of the pub is original, with English oak doors and Scottish coats-of-arms in the windows. Our fish and meats dishes have brought Zagat «excellent» ratings the past 10 years in a row! Try our $ 10 Fish ‘n’ Chips or our Bangers & Mash! We’ve got 2 dozen imported draught beers (4 of them hand-drawn cask ales), great food, great atmosphere, great music 4-nights-a-week. And above all: Great fun!

Join English owner Lee Harrison and he’ll fill you in on the glorious history of The Blue Anchor!

History

Established in 1996.

Built in in mid-1800s on the site of a 17th Century coaching inn, the outside of the pub was shipped across the pond from England where it had provided a warm and cheery welcome to London’s rich, famous and infamous for almost 150 years in the city’s historic Chancery Lane.

The arched, English oak front doors were once used by Sir Winston Churchill, when he was a young Fleet Street journalist and Member of Parliament in the early 1900s! You can sense the ancient history as you walk to the wooden bar and you’ll feel the warmth and friendship that is the backbone of a great British pub.
