Wright By The Sea

Just spent a long weekend there as an end-​of-​summer «stay-​cation». What a wonderful place. It’s old Florida as I remember it (as a Florida native!!). Had a super 1^st floor 1 bedroom suite. Clean, bright, fully equipped kitchen. The beach was great and the cabanas were perfect. 2 large flat screen TV’s made it great. Only live a few miles away but being there took us away to the beach vacations we remembered from years ago. We had my daughters wedding there last year (best party ever!!) but didn’t get to enjoy the beach scene. It’s our go to place. You can have your Marriotts and Seagates. This is REAL Florida.

This was our first time in Florida, we were here for a friends wedding. We made our reservations almost a year in advance as we were told they sell out pretty quickly. As we arrived, the surrounding neighborhood was so pretty with beautiful homes and green lush landscaping. Walking in we felt we were transported back in time to «old Florida,» the property was so charming. The tiny office was quaint and welcoming almost like you’re spending time at someone’s home. The staff was warm and inviting, although they charged us for check out at the same time we checked in. Saying «checkout is a very busy day,» so ok. The grounds are nicely manicured and well equipped for families to have a ton of fun, pool with more «noodles» than you can imagine, shuffle board, basketball, croquet, ping pong table, outdoor grill and thatched hut eating area all with the ocean a few feet away. Friendly families milling about enjoying the «old Florida» charm. We really enjoyed our time with old friends at Wright By The Sea, the staff were accommodating with a relaxed laid back feel. Up until «checkout,» the staff did a 180′ on us and treated us so rudely… they were right when they said «checkout is busy for them.» We thought checkout was noon, but it was 11:00. Clearly we misunderstood, totally our fault but at 11:10 to start calling our room telling us «to get out!, then call again at 11:20 they need our room for the other people arriving (isn’t check in 2:00?), then the cleaning people standing out our door kicking us out, while I literally throw my luggage out of my room onto the balcony. Mind you, the rooms are equipped with a kitchen as well, so we also had leftover food to pack up, I was hurrying to pack up our family, we were NOT laying around in the room being disrespectful, which is how we were being treated! The manager (or maybe owner I believe) was so rude to me and our family I was shocked at the treatment. After going into the office to apologize once again but to also point out how insulted we were by his treatment to us, he still wanted to argue his point about our «rudeness,» instead of graciously understanding a misunderstanding had occurred. I understand there is a schedule to keep, but there are other ways to treat a «CUSTOMER!» I guess it didn’t matter, they already had our money and were moving on to the next group coming in! I guess they have enough «repeat» customers, that’s what we kept hearing… Unfortunately, we will not be back to Wright By The Sea!

We have lived in So. Florida for 30 years now and have NEVER been to this part of Delray Beach… you HAVE to try it! The area is beautiful — quaint & charming and still close to everything you want to do. Bike, swim, eat, walk, dance, drink — it’s all there. This place reminds me of ‘old time’ family travel and charm. The rooms were perfectly sized, ours was a large bedroom, living room, walk in closet and full bath. There was a shared porch with 1 other room on one side and a community porch/​walkway on the other. If you want to be alone you can — if you want to meet people you can.
Nice amenities — pool, nearly private, clean, beautiful beach (not really close to any public access) small beach cabanas ready for use. no extra charges for chairs, lounges, etc. Open grill/​picnic area. Limited number of guests so not really a concern for over-​crowding.
Would have given them a 5 except there is no on-​site food or snack shop… and the beds are a little on the hard side! Don’t think they have wireless either! Other then that SUPER ROMANTIC. It was our 34^th wedding anniversary and we spent it on the beach watching another wedding!
I hope this gem stays around — reminded us of the Hutchinson Inn. (they had cookies @ night & a small breakfast!) (hint hint)

Called Wright by the Sea spoke to Tammy. We were hoping to hold our wedding/​reception for around 50 people at their resort in 2016. She stated she can’t check availability but she could send me some info. Once I told her my wedding date she said they don’t have weddings from Dec. 21^st until after Easter. She said their guests are «spending too much money to not use the facilities when they want».
I guess this is one place that my wedding guests and I will not be staying! Rude customer service! Not something I would want to deal with!
I guess they don’t need the money! All of my guests including my fiancé and I would ALL be coming from out of state and were willing to dish out the higher room prices!

I’m a south FL native and I have visited this quaint little hotel several times with my family over the years. It’s a small U-​shaped hotel right on the ocean. The courtyard is nicely manicured and includes a pool, basketball hoop, ping pong table, and a cool tiki hut with lots of room where you can BBQ (or just grab some takeout/​delivery) and enjoy dinner outside with a beautiful ocean view. Yes, I have done all of the above. Aside from that, I have spent many hours on the quiet beach. Although this place is only about an hour away, it truly feels I am nowhere near the busy city I call home when I am there. The owners and employees have always been courteous and I hope to visit again this year.

Made a very specific reservation last year for a week this year. Called to confirm the reservation and it’s nowhere to be found. Not happy and can’t recommend it given this level of sheer incompetence.

What else can you say when everything is Wright, at Wright by the Sea. This little gem of a hotel is really fantastic. Does it have a bar? No. Does it have a restaurant? No. Does it have an amazing lobby to sit in? No! Does it have a water slide and water effects? NO!!! Do I care? NO!!!
This is a great mom and pop hotel directly on the Atlantic Ocean with a nice pool and great efficiency rooms and incredibly nice staff… This place is BYOF, Bring Your Own Fun! It’s quiet and the rooms are very nice and well kept and you can’t beat the location!
We enjoy this little hotel and look forward to staying there often.

4.5 stars. Great place to stay. Ocean view with a real relaxed atmosphere and even the clientele is friendly and family oriented. Quiet and comfortable. Accommodations are not high end luxury but they are what you need. Ocean and pool and grill.

We LOVE Wright by the Sea. This old South Florida gem was the site of our wedding, rehearsal dinner and all of the «shenanigans» that made our destination wedding a memorable one. The staff and owners were super friendly. It was a bit more expensive and we didn’t get a deal on having all our events there considering how many of the rooms we filled, but it was worth it and I imagine we’d have paid way more just down the road in Miami!
