The firm was founded by Scott Alagood and Brian Cartwright, former shareholders of Philips & Hopkins, P.C., in Denton. In 2013, Samuel B. Burke joined Alagood & Cartwright, P.C. as a Shareholder Scott, Brian and Sam have over 55 years of combined legal experience and we are proud to say that the majority of our new clients are referred by existing clients or other practicing attorneys. We have built a loyal client base and they continue to return to us to meet their legal needs.

R. Scott Alagood has built an impressive commercial and residential real estate practice throughout the State of Texas, with particular attention to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and Denton County. Although real estate matters, including condemnation and eminent domain are his specialty, Scott has extensive experience in Civil and Business Litigation, and Small Business Consulting. Clients often seek his expertise when forming corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships. Scott also handles a wide variety of serious and complex issues involving governmental entities. His knowledge, reputation, and experience has earned him appointments by the Probate Court of Denton County, Texas, as a Commissioner in Condemnation and Eminent Domain cases, as well as appointments as Attorney Ad Litem by the District Courts of Denton County, Texas. Scott is also a trained mediator and offers his services in both mediation and arbitration in business, civil, and corporate.
