Stars for being well stocked, local/​close to my home, and friendly. I’ve come here twice and I am NOT a handy gal. I don’t even like hanging up pictures and I’ve been known to mess up changing a light bulb. The first visit, I needed a key cut. About $ 2 and five minutes later, i walked out a happy customer. Second visit, I was hoping they had some plumbing stuff to help me fix a broken toilet lever (yes, I youtubed how to fix it). $ 10 instead of some horrendous bill from a plumber. Don’t use my review if you are a handyman or a big time DIY person. My review is really only helpful to those who need the VERY BASIC NECESSITIES.

Sam is incredibly helpful and saved my ass in a last minute Christmas emergency. Praise Jesus? No, praise Sam!!!

Fail! 1−6… Been to the store six times over three months and only once walk out of there with what I needed… When are you going to stop blaming the never ending renovation and take responsibility for your incompetence?

The customer service at the Ace stores, is really stand out. This goes across all of their stores. I have always had excellent help and customer service, at every Ace store I have visited. They hire people that care about doing a good job. Did I mention that Ace stores have free popcorn? What a great throwback to a bygone time. Prices are affordable, and they have lots of sales. All of these things is what makes this my go to hardware store, even if it is a chain. They also cut keys, etc.

Great, convenient place, with awesome customer service. I made a quick Über trip when our furniture was delivered but we realized our tools didn’t make it to the new place. All I needed was a basic hammer and screwdriver and that’s exactly what they sold me. I was looking at a 10 in 1 screwdriver and the salesman even told me that it was a little over the top for what I needed and showed me one that was 6 in one and half the price!
I will definitely go back here, and am glad to have it nearby

Pretty friendly, always stocked location. Isles are tight, but what can you expect from a CapHill hardware store?
I think they could use 1 or 2 more people on staff to help, but if you know what you need, you will be in and out in no time.
I like the flowers/​herbs they have in summers.

I have been to this Ace Hardware a couple of times for small household items. Most recently, I did not have a good experience. I am installing a bike rack and needed a magnetic nut driver bit for my impact. When explaining what I needed and that I was using an impact driver, «Dean» says that impacts are only for working on cars. He showed me to the sockets, but that’s not what I wanted. I think he thought that I meant an impact wrench, but he had no idea what a nut driver bit was. I work in the power tool industry and he treated me like I didn’t know what I was talking about. He was very rude to my fiancé and I. like to support the little guys, but you are better off going to Home Depot for better prices and better service.

It seems I am in this store at least once a week… usually for a quick fix it project. Sometimes I need a piece of scrap wood… or a hole drilled in something and they do it free of charge. Last week I went in with a big bike kick stand… it was attached to my bike with a rivit and just snapped off… I went in seeing if they could help knock the rest of the rivit out so I could replace it with a bolt… they spent a good ten minutes… finally drilling out the old screw… I bought a new bolt, washer, and nut for $ 1.05 maybe… they did all this work for free… Why would I ever go to Home Depot? Ace is the Place! It certainly is here!

We got the best service when we went in! I wish I caught his name, but we were greeted in a friendly manner, he helped us find the mis-​tinted paint we needed and then he offered to shake/​mix it and provided us with complimentary stir sticks and can opener. Those things were great, but it was really how on point this guy was and how eager he seemed to help us leave with just what we needed. Thanks so much!

While I love my Ace Hardware store in Congress Park, this location is the best to have any odd key duplicated right away. Customer service was also excellent at this location though this store is definitely busier and the wait time can be a bit longer. Great knowing that between my two friendly neighborhood Ace store i don’t have to venture out to a big store like Home Depot.

Local and neighborhood friendly.
This is the go to when looking to avoid the big box stores.
This place is customer service focused and have enough employees to answer questions.
If you’re looking to fix something, or starting a home project give these guys a shot first.
I’ve been in several times for everything form keys being cut to glue to hanging hardware and I’ve always been helped quickly and been given prompt service.
The store is a bit small so it’s possible they won’t have 100 of everything, but so far I have been able to find what I need.
It’s nice being able to ask someone for help and have them direct me exactly to where I need to look or give me the parts necessary to complete my projects.
Parking can be a lil hard, but no worries to walk a few steps if needed.

Locked out of your bathroom at 8 am and have to pee? The locksmith here will give you the info you need to buy the right tool to break in.
Unable to attach your front license plate plate because the screws are frozen? This place will drag a drill out of the back for you and find a way to make it work.
Seriously, this place has been amazingly helpful. I’ve never gotten such service from a Lowes or Home Depot. I don’t doubt those businesses have a place, especially if you are buying a lot of stuff, but if you want real service this is the place to go.

These guys are assholes.
Definitely not the same friendly customer service that I’ve experienced since 1987.
It’s no longer friendly. No longer gay friendly. No longer helpful.
They’re just a bunch of assholes, much like every single Home Depot in this city.
You’re better off dealing with the assholes at Home Depot. At least their prices are a fraction of what used to be a great hardware store at 9^th & Corona. And despite the shitty service at HD, they’re head and shoulders above the shitty attitude you get at the 9^th Avenue Ace hardware these days.

This ACE is very small, perfect for the quick little projects that come up in the neighborhood, but I have had problems finding specific items that I need. The employees are friendly and happy to help and I find myself here first for all my needs before going to the bigger places.

Only 2 blocks from my place, I’m a fan of the connivence factor.
The staff has been friendly and informative. I’m not the most handy person, so their input is always appreciated from the smallest (figuring out what type of screws to use) to the «big» not so handy things I’m not so great at.

Kind of an awkward store with awkward (but well meaning) employees. Whenever we just need a hardware store type item or two, the Cap Hill Ace Hardware is much easier than a trip out to the ‘burbs. Unfortunately, they don’t have everything one needs and unless it’s a super general item (ie garden house or light bulb), your time might be better spent at a big box.
The seed starting section is far more limited than a garden store like Paulino’s or a big box store like Home Depot. When we visited back in March we were looking for peet pellets to start seeds with and the awkward (but well meaning) employee informed us it was «too early in the season.» To start seeds? No. So while friendly, I haven’t found the employees to be terribly helpful.
Oddly, their canning section is where it’s at, always stocked with hard-​to-​find jar sizes, plastic lids, canning kits, etc. Apparently they consider canning «year-​round» as we were able to purchase canning supplies in March but not seed starting supplies.
We went last weekend and were able to find what we needed to with ease (keeping in mind that we were looking for pretty basic stuff). Ace does in a pinch, as long as you don’t have a super tall order or need a variety of something.

Ace Hardware — we know we can ALWAYS get what we need here. We have an old Victorian House (in Capitol Hill), and when we need those strange quirky things that Victorian houses have, we know ACE will have it!
Service — excellent! Very knowledgeable employees too.
Location — right in our neighborhood, so we can’t beat it!

This Ace is the place. It’s the place where I can go to ponder all of the many «home improvement» tasks that I could undertake if I wasn’t so incredibly lazy. I like to browse the plumbing and electrical section and just, you know, pretend that I know what ANY of those parts are actually for. When someone asks me if they can help, I respond with, «Oh, I’m just looking for a ¾″ phalanges sprocket mount.» That’s my code for, «Nope, just browsing, thanks.»
Most of the time I come here, I’m getting something trivial like electrical tape, extension cords, spare key or nails. I use a lot of nails for some reason. But my guess is that they have a little bit of everything for any type of project.
The staff is all super friendly and VERY helpful and, while it seem like it’s a little on the pricey side compared to, say, Walmart, I still go here because I can walk to it and it’s a business immersed in my community.
And I kinda like that.

How do you even get a job working in this hardware store? «Hi, I’m Leah and I know EVERYTHING ABOUT LIFE.»
They’ve helped me pry old license plates off my car in the rain; they knew which brackets I needed to make little spice shelves; they can duplicate keys; they loved on my dog; they sell spray paint.
They freaking love projects. You can see their eyes light up when you come in looking perplexed, which I prefer to the Home Depot tactic of seeing that look on a woman’s face and running the other way.
Are they the cheapest place in the city? Well, no. Do they have everything you’ll need for whatever kind of terrifying living-​space drama you’re going through? Absolutely.
So here’s to you, Oh Superior Ace Hardware. Keep it up!

Loves me them neighborhood hardware stores. And here’s why I double loves me that 9^th Ave Ace Hardware. .. so listen V E R Y C A R E F U L L Y ’cause this is extremely important:
Going to 9^th Ave. isn’t like going to Home Despot when you want a single screw/​washer/​bolt/​nut/​fill-​in-​the-​blank. At HD, you have to buy a pre-​packaged, hard plastic containerized multi-​unit minimum $ 2.95 version and get half dozen screws/​washers/​etc.
But not at 9^th Ave. you don’t. At 9^th Ave. you go in for a nut, so to speak, and you get yourself a nut, so to speak. One nut, not a package of 6+ nuts.
Now that is old-​fashioned genuine American hardwarin’ customer service.
They’ll charge you the 18 cents and wish you a nice day. .. like good hardware folks should.
