Ace Hardware

Even smaller than most other Ace Hardware’s I’ve been to, but the staff was friendly and the store seemed fairly well-​organized. It was certainly not lacking in selection.

I love Ace Hardware stores and I’ve been in this one a few times since I moved here a couple of months ago. This store is small with very narrow aisles, but they still seem to have everything. I love how you can go into a place like this and ask for a certain item and the staff can take you right to it. The folks here are very helpful and friendly. It’s a great neighborhood store. Unfortunately I don’t live close enough to walk to it and sometimes parking is a problem.

Always helpful always friendly unlike their counterparts in the big orange box whose initials are HD. This store in particular is always well stocked. I have yet to find a project where they didn’t have what I needed.

Let’s face it, Ace Hardware is more expensive than Home Depot. But, and this is a huge but, Ace has truly helpful employees and a selection of hard to find parts. After spending a day at the Depot, I ended up needing a few more things. Unwilling to brave the drive down Colorado again, I thought why not try the Ace down the road. I am so glad I did. Rudy helped me find everything I needed and even cut and threaded a steel pipe for me. Yeah it was a few bucks more than I would have spent at other hardware stores but, honestly, it would have taken me more time and I would have had way more frustration finding what I needed.
If you aren’t buying heaps of lumber or off the shelf stuff, give Ace a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I love this hardware store– truly a neighborly kind of feel! We manage an apartment building down the road, so I’m at this Ace every few days it seems like. Many of the employees know my name and I’ve heard them address other customers by name as well. They’re super friendly and helpful — I highly recommend them!

Always helpful folks in there. Also for a small store, they really do have a great selection.

I love this place. Although it’s small, it has just about everything you need and the staff are super friendly and helpful. Just what you would expect from a neighborhood hardware store.

I was a bit apprehensive of only having and Ace Hardware nearby to run to when things needing fixing in my rental. I have always lived very near to a Home Depot/​Lowes or a Walmart/​Target. However I have been pleasantly surprised with this store and have become a huge fan!
Not only do they have a vast selection to help me problem solve unexpected issues, but they have amazing customer service. The staff is extremely helpful and happy to help someone like me who is normally lost at these type of stores! If they thought my questions were dumb, they definitely did not act that way. Glad to have this store nearby for any future emergencies since they are bound to happen with all these old rentals in the area.

i can’t count how many times i’ve been there to have keys made, or to replace a stolen trash can or broken snow shovel. The convenience of having them in my neighborhood is great, but the super helpful and friendly employees makes it that much better.
i’m looking forward to the next time my trash can gets stolen or run over!

Love this store. It’s old-​school: small, with narrow aisles and tall shelves, and the people are helpful and knowledgeable and will get things off tall shelves for you (should you happen to be short like me).
The only drawback is limited selection, but like I said — it’s small & old-​school. If I just need bolts or nails or a tarp or something simple, I’ll always go here. If I need something more specialized, like a fancy Dremel bit, or a doorknob that matches all of my other ones, I’d have to go somewhere else.

I’m about to make a statement that makes me question who I’ve become, but here it goes:
I like this Ace Hardware location more than any other hardware store in the city.
I’m not exactly sure when I developed a favorite hardware store, but after buying our house, I’ve found myself paying hardware stores an occasional visit. With this branch of Ace, I can not only find what I’m looking for, but I also get friendly advice and instruction. For example, we recently purchased a drill bit and along with that drill bit, we got some helpful advice regarding drilling into plaster and tile without causing cracks.
If you need an extra key made, they can do that and send you on your way within a few minutes. If you need paint, tools, vegetable seeds or party lights, they have that, too. The prices may be high, but everything seems to be of good quality and it’s nice to shop in a neighborhood shop and escape the big boxes.

Very friendly and helpful employees! I really dig the neighborhood store feel here.
They have a surprising selection given the size. The aisles are a bit narrow, but the outgoing employees seem quite well versed in the inventory. Even the couple oddball items I have asked for were instantly located by the staff. The couple times they didn’t have just what I was looking for, they offered to call around and were able to locate it at a truevalue not too far away.
I’m sad they don’t have room for lumber, as I would much rather spend my money and time at this independently owned neighborhood Ace than the megas like Home Depot.

I really like this Ace Hardware store. It’s conveniently located right by our house. The staff is great and will always help you find what you’re looking for. If they don’t have it at this store, they’ll call around to the other stores for you. That is great customer service. I’m definitely a fan.

I tend to shop ACE on 12^th not only because it’s walking distance to my front door, but the staff really are the nicest people. I am proud to call this my neighborhood hardware store. They really have a wide selection, even though it does not look it from the outside.
Prices are hit or miss. Overall though if you live in Congress Park or Cheesman Park, I would suggest stopping by.

The best part of this Ace Hardware is the staff– they are incredibly nice and they are very knowledgeable. You’re going to pay a bit more when you go here but I think it’s worth it sometimes… I would rather pay a little more to be able to walk to the neighborhood hardware store than drive to a big box. Just like everyone else has said.
But it’s TRUEEEEE.

I really hate to be a dittohead but this Ace truly is the helpful place. The staff are friendly and attentive, and this unassuming neighborhoody mini-​Ace stocks 95% what I need, saving me from having to drive to the big-​box hardware stores.

These guys are awesome. It’s what I imagine a neighborhood hardware store was like before chains took over America. Sure, Ace is a chain, but it’s got that neighborhood feel.
First off, it’s actually in the neighborhood, and not some strip mall. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to brainstorm projects with you. They’ll get in what you need if it’s not readily in stock, but for a small store they surprisingly have just about everything there.
The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the convenience of location. If you’re anywhere in the Cap Hill or City Park neighborhoods, this should be your go-​to hardware.

Even though I’m one of the biggest contributors to globalization (I buy all my stuff on Amazon), my local Ace Hardware store is a great reminder why it’s good to «think locally».
The store is well-​stocked with just about anything you’d need, prices are fair, and it’s staffed with friendly employees that are happy to help. For instance, I came in looking for advice about properly grounding some old two-​pronged outlets in the house. Three employees came to my aid, going through all my possible options, from the «expensive-​safest up-​to-​code» methods, to the «do-​it-​yourself-​slightly-​ghetto-​but-​cheap» way.
I’d pay a small premium for that kind of service any day, over the incompetence of the big chain sales drones.

Repeat after me:
I do not have to go to Home Depot/​Lowes for home improvement projects, instead I will go to an independently owned hardware store or lumberyard for my next project.
This Ace Hardware is the one I’m reviewing b/​c it’s in my neighborhood, but most of them are really great, and really, the prices aren’t that bad, better than big box in some cases, comparable in others, and maybe a few things are a bit more expensive.
If I’m in a rush and not sure that they’ll have what I need, I call ahead to see what type of stock they have on an item. The staff at this location are great, and the selection is good as well.
