This place rocks-huge amazing fresh juices, delicious coffee, smoking wi-fi and you can pick up dinner at the same time. The best in a rather large area if you’re looking for a place to work.

This place just got even better, with its relocation to the front of the Whole Foods store. It’s a feat to make it inside the store without purchasing a beverage. The menu includes healthy choices and a standard list of coffee based drinks with a few homegrown alternatives. My favorite thus far is the Mammoth Coffee, which is a striking reminder of Philz Coffee in Bay Area, California. It’s made with freshly brewed Allegro Coffee(local roaster), then blended in a mixer with coconut oil and grass fed butter. It ends up with a buttery flavor similar to Philz. There’s also the Nitro cold brewed coffee that I still need to try. I’ve also had fresh beet, apple and carrot juice, which was delicious. The Vega One smoothies are a delight, the Chocolate Caramel Crunch was rich without being overly sweet. I would also recommend the Cloudy Chai. The ambiance is perfect with ample natural light filling the area, it feels like outside seating. Much better than the old location jammed in the dark corner of the store. The live wall of moss is a perfect touch. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. They are happy to make the perfect drink!

Perfect coffee! If you’re in Lakewood its worth going here for coffee. The quality and price is better than Starbucks(which there is an abundance of here). It’s not quick usually just one person taking orders and making drinks, so don’t go here if you’re in a rush. Also, whole food’s pastries are conveniently located near the line.

Dear Starbucks, you’ve done me dirty. Raising the price of coffee per cup in 5-cent increments. Each cup is either watered down or extremely bitter. I need something on the go and accessible. I can’t win. But look no further in your local WHOLEFOODS, because there’s an Allegro Coffee bar nestled inside. I like good coffee, but I don’t have time to drive to a fancy Intelligensia/Philz/BlueBottle/Stumptown. Luckily, there’s a Wholefoods on my way, and Allegro Coffee has EXCELLENT iced coffee. I only drink black coffee(no sugar or cream, ever), so I definitely need good tasting coffee in my life. Don’t feel like having a caffeine buzz? They got you covered with their pressed juices and smoothies too. I can win now! 5 stars for convenience. 4 stars for coffee.

It’s in the Whole Foods which is, you know, kind of lame — but the coffee is great! I get the blended dark mocha and it’s delicious. I won’t hang out there, however. I’m the kind of coffee shop person that likes to sit, use the wifi, linger. Can’t do that here comfortably because it’s, well, a grocery store. But because the coffee is so good? I’ll be back again and again.

I think we all get to a point where we just have to «Branch Out» from Starbucks. I’ve always loved Coffee. And I’ve always sought out the«real» coffee joints. You know? Not overly roasted beans, expertly pulled shots of espresso? Perfectly foamed milk in Lattes? But Starbucks was just too convenient to avoid for those mornings on the way to work. Allegro Coffee, in the Whole Foods Market at Belmar, has changed that for me. They’re definitely a step up from the ‘bucks. Properly roasted beans, choices of milk, many organic(thanks to being located IN a Whole Foods, no doubt), Friendly Baristas. They even have their own register so you can completely avoid the Whole Foods madness and just grab a coffee and go. Drip coffee selections are right up front, their Espresso drinks menu includes Lattes, Cappuccinos, and MEXICANDRINKINGCHOCOLATE! Say Whaaaat? Oh, you want Iced Teas? Yeah, Allegro’s got those too. Blueberry, Mango, Sweetened with Simple Syrup(or not… your choice!) Frozen Frappé Thingys? Well, they have blenders, so go for it! Agave, Honey, Raw Sugar, White sugar are all laid out for you to customize… Along with Cocoa, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, probably more. Whole Beans are set out with scoops for you to grind and take home(or take home and grind), and just to the right of the ordering area. Overpriced Plastic Sippy Cups? Yup. Around the corner at the Pick-Up stand. Oh, but here’s where it gets good. They have a loyalty punch card, 9 punches = Free Drink.(That’s 3 drinks fewer than Starbucks’ free drink!) And… A SMALL — 12 Ounce… Latte: CHEAPER than Starbucks AND has TWO shots of Espresso rather than one. Yup. Each size has MORE Espresso than the comparable ‘Bucks. Done, and… DONE! I’ll be making THIS stop on my way to work a LOT more often!

If you’re looking for an alternative to Starbucks, look no further. Allegro has you covered. My wife and I come to Whole Paycheck(ahem)… I mean Whole Foods at Belmar often because it’s close, convenient, and the foods are fresh(mostly). We’ve made it a point to make Allegro part of our regular coffee stop. Their lattes are cheaper and stronger than you would comparably get at your corner store Starbucks. You get three shots of espresso instead of two you would get in a Starbucks grande. To put it mildly, Allegro gives you more bang for the buck. The baristas are all friendly, personable, and helpful. The bald guy(Steve) is always very nice and is a zen brew guru. Like the Bucks they have a loyalty rewards card(which we are always forgetting in the car) but they will happily consolidate your card stamps for you and give you a freebie after 9 stamps instead of the 12 at Starbucks. That means more free drinks faster! It would be nice and convenient though to have a mobile app for that but Allegro isn’t a multi-billion dollar corporate coffee monopoly. Probably another reason why they can keep costs and quality competitive. And that’s music to my ears.
