I had done a darkroom photography class my last year in college and it was so much fun! I had some left over paper from that class and had kept my old school camera and decided I wanted to find a place that I could go to develop my own pictures again. I found Denver Darkroom by Googling darkrooms in Denver and found that it was also highly recommended by 5280 magazine. I did a class to get my skills back, the intro to darkroom development class, and picked it all back up. I don’t know if it was instructive enough if you hadn’t done darkroom developing or used a manual film camera before. Also the chemicals weren’t quite mixed correctly the several times I went to use the facilities to develop. I never learned how to mix the chemicals, but the instructor was there to remix them or rework whatever needed to be added in to correct issues. I’m giving it 3 stars for being a rare and almost extinct place to do something pretty fun, but deducting some for the squirrelly mixes and solutions kept on hand to develop without supervision.

Just give the dude a call, he lives upstairs above the place. Make an appointment and use the darkroom if you’re so inclined.

I’ve been waiting several months for a refund of $ 175 for a terribly run class. I was told that a cashier’s check would be sent to me «without fail» the following day and over four weeks later I’m still waiting. Clearly they can’t be trusted. And what makes matters worse — the digital photography class that I was offered a refund on was really, really bad.

They stole my money! $ 300! I signed up for a class this past summer and it was subsequently canceled due to lack of attendees. I was told I would receive a refund and after numerous phone messages and emails(all of which have been ignored) I still don’t have my money! Stay away from Denver Darkroom — what a horrible way to run a small business!
