This place tasted pretty good but… its really expensive. Also why doesn’t ANY dish come with rice and beans? I received my burrito and it was bare with nothing. I asked the waitress where the rice and beans were and she looked puzzled and said nothing comes with them. Said it would cost another $ 3 on top of my $ 14 burrito. What? Definitely not going back, way too expensive for the average«Mexican» they serve.

Flavorless Mexican food, at best. The service was awful. For what is essentially line prep Mexican food with no flavor(casa-Bonita esque), it took an interminable amount of time to get our food… which was cold when it arrived. The waitress was the definition of inattentive, never refilling water, and despite asking for more salsa it never came. Went to pay at the end of the meal, and said they wouldn’t honor our coupon code… I would never go there again.

Have been here a few times but never again. The food was very sub par. But what gives this 1 star is the way we were treated. We were there for an elementary schools function. Lots of kids being kids. We were told that we received a complaint about the noise level and to be quiet. I dont believe this complaint came from any customers. All the customers were families with kids. This is a loud Mexican restaurant and this night was hosting a function for an elementary school. If you don’t want kids in there you might want to say no next time to accepting a few hundred customers.

We were introduced to La Fogata by some friends a couple years ago, and ever since then we’ve been hooked. It’s been completely remodeled in the past year or so, meaning the interior is different but thankfully the food is just as delicious as ever! The new interior is cozy and modern and really encourages you to hang out a while. It’s always busy and doesn’t matter what time we go, but the servers are always quick and friendly. Everything I’ve tried has been great(the carnitas taquitos I had last night were amazing), and my husband is particularly fond of the bean burrito. Highly recommended!

This place is aight. I guess the other location is where it is at, but this location was fun and tasty. It did not blow my mind, it was good but not great. The diversity of the patrons was top notch, the food was good, and the margaritas were OK. We sat in the back by a very large, very shattered glass door — obviously the VIP section. I don’t even remember what I got exactly, some combo plate. It was not memorable, nor was the service nor the pricing. I didn’t have(or hear from others in our group about) any digestion issues, so that is something. But, lower your expectations if you are going here.

I really enjoyed this place. They just finished a remodel, and the place looks great and is very comfortable. Friendly staff and good service. Great food. I got a combination plate with a little bit of everything and my wife got a chimichanga so I got a pretty good sampling of the place. The chips come with salsa with a roasted flavor with a hint of heat. Crispy relleno is fantastic with a nice coating. The taco is a standard, quality taco shell with plenty of cheese and veggies and the meat is delicious. Beans are very good, although the rice is very bland. Cheese enchilada has a very good red sauce but is still a cheese enchilada(I’ve never had an exciting cheese enchilada so I’m not taking off points here). Chimichanga is fantastic looking and comes with a bunch of fresh guacamole with a nice flavoring of cilantro. Got Green Chili on the side which is very good and not overly spicy. Margarita was flavorful and strong. Fried Ice Cream had fresh strawberries which was a nice surprise. Otherwise good, but not really unique or memorable. Overall, great experience. I read some of the other reviews and I honestly knocked this place up a star because I found the others so annoying and bullshitty. Giving terrible reviews because they ordered the wrong thing or because a waitress had to ask question. This place is really very good, but apparently some of the patrons are douche bags.

La Fogata: Causing people to overeat massive delicious quantities of tasty Mexican food since 1990. You know when you find that perfect little Mexican place where you eat way more chips than you should, and when your delicious entrée comes out and you know you should stop eating but you just can’t and you keep shoveling it in, and finally you leave slightly in pain and buzzed from the margaritas requiring an afternoon nap? That is this place. I had heard of La Fogata for years and passed it frequently– Finally I tried it and I am so so pleased! First– the staff is SOFRIENDLY! Follow that up with a basket of seasoned chips and tasty salsa, looking good! Then, the beautiful old school house margarita in a fun cactus glass… no complaints here– tasty! Then the final blow– The Pollo en Mole! OMG melt in your mouth shredded tender chicken in a rich chocolate in Chile sauce. Stop! Stop! But I can’t! Delicious with rice and beans. This may be hands down one of the best Mexican House dishes in Denver. I think I gained Three pounds. Seriously. This is a great find, and I can’t wait until I diet off this meal and can come pack, er. I mean back again!

I hate that I am forced to put 2 stars :(i have usually enjoyed eating here but my experience recently was pretty bad. Once I ordered the waitress who tried to memorize my order took another tables order(in which I knew she would forget mine) and had to re ask what I wanted. Once I recieved my phone it was not only cold, but not correct. I was not asked how my food was until I was nearly 2 bites from done. There were only 2 other tables eating. sorry to say I or my family wont be back.

Had never been to this restaurant before. Went out of being in the area and convenience. Turned out fantastic! The service was good, but, the food was was excellent! I would defiantly go back again. They were busy and had a cute little patio but, we choose to sit inside. If you haven’t been here and looking for good Mexican food I would give them a whirl!

We were seated right away by a friendly hostess. Plenty of patio and indoor seating. We came on a Saturday for lunch and it was not busy at all. Thin, crispy chips and a smoky salsa with a perfect amount of heat were delivered to our table. We ordered our food and it was brought out in under 10 minutes. I had the Combination Seis(avocado tostada, ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, and chile relleno). Everything was so delicious! The tostada came piled high with guacamole. The chile relleno was crispy, not over breaded, and had a wonderful, fresh flavor. The ground beef taco was simple and filling. Not too greasy, not full of salt. Just good, home cooked, home seasoned ground beef. The cheese enchilada was exactly what I wanted. Gooey, melted cheese, wrapped in a tortilla, smothered in red sauce. We’ll definitely be back here. Definitely for their Monday margarita special.

Not that good. Was not impressed with any of the flavors on my dish. I ordered Chicken Enchiladas, but instead only got cheese. Not a big deal really, I was hungry. The problem was there was no flavor. Yes it was piping hot, yes the service was decent, but no… there was no flavor… at least not enough to make me say«holy crap that’s good». Mediocre. I just don’t understand how you can have a business plan that involves mediocre food. But, it did seem busy so they are either doing something right or are at a prime location. Beats me.

More often than not — this is what you get in Denver for Mexican food. Decent enough tex-mex food that is overpriced. Look there is nothing here to right home about. They, by default, serve their tacos hard…and their burritos spongee. My entrée was the basic. A taco(that I had to send back, because it was crispy), chili relleno, and maybe something else burried under that mess of rice, beans, and whatever. Everything was somewhere between bland and average. Hard to tell with everything buried under cheese, beans, and rice If you really want a DTC mexican lunch…I would recommend sticking with Yolando’s Tacos

Caldo de Camaron with con Pescado comes with the fish and shrimp still flopping around in the spicy broth when it’s brought to your table. The chipotle, cumin and garlic spices join hands to sing and dance from tastebud to tastebud, laughing, running naked past my tonsils down the slide of my patched throat to my barren belly. They gleefully create an island of warm, golden, sun-toasted paradise that passes to my tingling toes. I go weak in the knees just thinking about it and dream of my next tasty morsel from La Fogata. La Fogata means, The Bonfire Fire and this place is true to its name. With its warm, inviting, friendly atmosphere and staff who welcome you like family. Not a day goes by when images of spices, tortilla chips, fire roasted Chipotle and Adobo sauces with combinations of steak, pork, chicken and fish do the Merengue together in my dreams. If you yearn for a quality dining experience, bring your appetite to La Fogata on Evans. And kick back with a magical, tension releasing menu. Don’t forget to request a potion from the other magician behind the bar. Rene’s palate coupled with years of experience can stir up an elixir of wine, well or even beer accented with lime juice and salt to compliment any meal. This is a great café.

I stopped by this establishment last weekend. I had been to the other La Fogata near Microcenter several times. This one is definitely better. I ordered the cuatro. It came with a chile relleno, ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, and rice & beans. The rice and beans are what you’d expect. The chile relleno was crispy and stuffed nicely. The enchilada was very cheesy, almost too cheesy. Okay who am I kidding? There’s no such thing as too cheesy when it comes to food. The beef taco was tasty as well. I had to eat it mostly with a fork though as I saved it until last and by that time the shell had gotten soggy on one side. Not the restaurants fault though. I’d come back here whenever I get a hankering for Mexican food right down the street from me.

So the Mexican food here is better than average for Colorado. The fajitas are good and better than a place like Chilis and there queso is very different and spicy. I would say it is worth a look if you want something different.

Worst service I ever had, ask for a simple order of super nachos, with nothing but meat and cheese. They brought my plate out and it had beans. I understand people mess up, so I asked for a fresh order, so about 4 minutes later she brings out the same plate of food. They reheated the food and my chips were burnt. My server had the worst attitude. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat there.
