Now I know why I never came in this place in the 14 years that I have lived in Denver. Worst breakfast burrito I have ever had! The cook should be embarrassed! Crappy service as well, stay clear of this mess!

My fella & I had the steak & eggs, which was fantastic! The steak was cooked perfectly & the homefries were the right mixture of crunchy & soft potatoes. If we lived in the area, we’d definitely be regulars! If only 6 stars was an option…

Good as far as diners go. The pork chili dishes are hefty portions and spiced heavy with black pepper but it is an interesting take. My eggs were perfect. Cash only, as advertised, so unlikely to frequent this place to try anything else.

A classic greasy spoon, easy to walk by, as the signage does not scream come here. Cheap and cheerful cash only. They do use margarine on their toast, icky, but wartime diner habits die slowly. As the server said the Bacon is really good. I had a standard breakfast, everything was cooked nice, the potatoes were dreamy. Boyfriend had biscuits and sausage gravy, also really hit the spot. Another thing to point out, the huevos rancheros does not come with beans, is this not a misnomer? The Gyro seemed particularly inciting, a note for next time.

Good healthy portions, made to order and the green chile is on the spicy side, but Coloradoans should be able to handle it

Just finished the most perfect breakfast here– eggs, home fries(perfect crisp), sausage, bacon… Yum! This is how breakfast food should be made. Yes– it’s a hole in the wall… But don’t let that fool you. Super food, super staff!

Great hole in the wall diner. Cheap and good. I usually get the breakfast burrito, which is a lot of food and exactly what I want after a night out.

I think this is a really good spot. The service is good. Everyone that comes in seems to know the staff and other customers. A real neighborhood feel. I had a burrito. The green chili was too mild for me, but that’s what hot sauce is for. It was huge. Everything was so cheap. I was worried that I would get a puny plate. I did not. Great value. Not the best food in the world. For the price it is great. Probably should be 3 ½ stars.

In a world turned upside down by vegan, mole, reduction, deconstructed bla, bla, bla… horse crap, Pete’s offers the taste of a bygone era where men were men and food wasn’t just your latest Instamatic upload. This little hole in the wall dinner will give you a hardy and tasty breakfast at a fair price.

This was our pre-GABF breakfast to put beer on top of this year. The pictures for this place are probably the most accurate pictures I have ever seen for a restaurant. Order a breakfast burrito. It comes out in this gigantic, amazing mess with salsa verde and home fries. I wish I was hungover because this would have been the perfect hungover food. So greasy, spicy, and everything diner, that your body will beg for it after 60 – 701 ounce beer samples later in the day. The only thing lacking about this place is that it’s cash only and the bathroom is fucking terrifying. It’s in the basement, under the stars, next to what I can only describe as the set from the movie Saw. Bathroom aside, this greasy spoon is a god damn treasure and super affordable. 7.5÷10.

I love diners and will go to diners on a regular basis for breakfast. I have been here several times and each time it is very good. It is pretty typical diner food for breakfast… although their steak that come with steak and eggs is probably a little better than most. Their biscuits are some of the best that I have had. The only thing that I probably like a little better at another diner is their hash browns. They are sliced potato with onion… good but I like a more«hash brown» potato.

Best breakfast spot in Denver. Don’t waste your time waiting in line at Jelly. Bring $ 10, walk out of here full and with some change to spare!

Best place for a big(BIG) breakfast I’ve ever been. Neverending refills and very friendly service. I recommend the steak and eggs. Better bring an appetite. It’s worth it.

So, I finally got around to checking out Pete’s. It’s cash only and I tend to not carry cash, so that will keep me from being too much of a regular. The food, however, is no problem at all. The prices are great and my huevos rancheros were delicious. I like to order the huevos at new restaurants because you get a lot of variety in how it’s made. Pete’s put ground beef on theirs which was a new one for me. I’m not the biggest carnivore ever, but I’m not a vegetarian either, so I was ok with it. Just take note, vegetarians — there’s meat on the huevos. It was actually really, really good and the portion sizes are excellent for the price. The food was ready really quickly, the staff is super nice and they have a nifty ancient cash register(irrelevant, but noteworthy). I’ll be back the next time I have cash on hand for breakfast.

I can’t believe there are so few reviews for this awesome breakfast spot. Everyone listen up GOHEREIMMEDIATELY!!! The food is incredible; the breakfast burritos are huge, delicious and cheap. I have been here 4 times, each and every time the service was fantastic, the food was delectable and the price was spot on. You may have to loop around a couple times to actually see this place off of Colfax, but I’m telling you it is worth it. Bring cash because it’s cash only and enjoy the little greasy spoon that is Pete’s Steak House. Next time you’re in the Capital Hill area skip right past Jelly and hit up this little restaurant they will be waiting for you with open arms.

Again, this is a spot you could walk by a thousand times and never know it was there. I think what took me so long, was the name«Pete’s». I guess I just assumed it was affiliated with all of the other Pete’s in town. But it is most definitely not. Pete’s Steak House is a venture of its own and it shows. Walking through the doors and being greeted by the staff and patrons alike was refreshing. After setting down; getting my cup of coffee and listening to the conversation. It felt a lot like eating at a relatives house. Warm friendly service and a menu that looks like it was put together by Grandma herself. What else can I say. No pretentious items, no hipster yuppies, no inflated price tags. Just good food, generous portions. at a reasonable price. Note: Green chili is amazing, I will soon work my way though the menu in its entirety and give you all an update.

I was traveling to Denver, Co for work and on my last day there I had some extra time so I decided to grab a late breakfast in the city. I wanted to try something that wasn’t a chain so I ran into a little hole in the wall café’. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I made in that trip. The guy(Pete) took my order and then cooked it right there in front of me. The green chili was Amazing. I still try to make it at home in Atlanta, GA to this day. If you are in Denver, CO and want something delicious and authentic to Denver, you MUST try this place. Hint: They only take cash(or did when I went), but there is a little store right next door that has an ATM. So bring cash and order the green chili!

Great quick breakfast on Colfax for the price. This place is small, I put up a picture showing the entire dining area. I think when I sat down alone, I filled the place up. Bring in a few of your friends and you will pack the place and have it to yourself. I’ve been to a few of the other Pete’s restaurants in Denver, so I had to stop in and compare them. I ordered the breakfast burrito smothered in green chili, yeah, I tend to order the same thing at different breakfast places — I love what I like. It is amazing, the green chili has a kick to it. Made my eyes water, cleared my sinuses. Typical diner coffee, served by a typical Greek waitress, with typical local diner old men sitting around reading the paper. Being on Colfax, it is not classy, it is not all that clean, but it has what you are looking for, greasy spoon, hearty breakfasts. You may even have to share the paper with a local homeless person, but hey, it’s to be expected on «The Fax.»
