Miracle Springs Resort & Spa

A big thank you to my buddy Anthony for turning me on to this hidden gem. I couldn’t be happier and my family and I will be back. After reading the reviews and first night peeling back my covers my wife found a use band aide in the bed. My 3 night stay turned out wonderful. My 8 yr old daughter loves pools and the pool side service. She loved the spa services they offer for the kids. I recommend the first floor pool side rooms. The AC works great all throughout the hotel. I really have nothing negative to say but the price is right per night and the spa is convenient. Family environment with kids around not so bad. This spot has just earned a regular now that will be back with more family and friends.

Only giving it two stars because of the pools:
Arrived a little early to see if they would let us check in. The girl at the front desk said room wasn’t ready but she would call me as soon as the room was available. Never got a call. On the upside we were allowed to change in the restroom and use «any of the 8 pools» on the property.
Pools: one large pool and 7 little jacuzzi type pools. Shouldn’t bill it as having 8 pools. A jacuzzi does not constitute a pool. One of the small jacuzzi pools was out of service, and while we are in the large pool, they are drilling and jackhammering it and dust and dirt is flying into the main pool. Main pool is full of trash and debris. On top of that, there’s killer birds in the trees surrounding the pool flying down and pecking our heads as we were in the pool. There were a lot of older people in the pools. The temp of the main pool was really comfortable just wish there wasn’t so much crap floating around in it. Never saw anyone from the hotel trying to clean that stuff out. There were tons of Europeans in the pools who would get mad if you tried to sit in the same pool they were in. You couldn’t sit in the smaller jacuzzi pools because they commandeered them like they were just for them. And they let you know it too. Sucks because we paid just like them and never got to try them. When I complained at the front desk, the young man said there was nothing they could do. The hotel management had zero security checking on their guests outside so we never got to try out the other pools. Water doesn’t seem clear. Supposed to have healing qualities but all I got was a massive ear infection. Probably from all the old people pissing in the pool. You have to ask for towels at the front desk every time you want to go down to the pool.
Restaurant: ate at the Capri restaurant during the happy hour 3 – 6 special and it was really good and inexpensive. Had a steak sandwich, personal pizza, pasta plate, mozzarella sticks, and taquitos. Our server Kym was really sweet and made good suggestions. Had it again the next day and had the Miracle springs omelet which was also good.
Room: Room was HUGE! Didn’t expect such a nice room. Clean, clean, clean. I’m not sure about the other reviews that said the hotel was run down. I didn’t think so. The bathroom was sparkling clean, sheets smelled clean, the fridge and microwave were a huge plus especially when you’re traveling with little kids. Slept on the absolute most comfortable bed ever. The pillows, oh the pillows. Seriously thought about putting them in my car. They were perfect and smelled so good. Shower had really bad water pressure.
Staff: most of the staff we encountered was friendly. Just think the front desk people could have been more helpful.
Overall, it was a good stay. My kid absolutely loved it and asked that we come here every summer. Only downside is that all the foreigners took over the pools and I know they were insulting us. Might try the sister property next door or go to agua caliente. Management didn’t offer to comp meal or partial refund or even a lollipop for the lousy pool experience. We were basically told we were S.O.L.

Stayed here for the night after my cousin’s wedding.
Asked for an early check in. We were told 2pm was the earliest possible.
Wedding was at 2:45, so we hung out in my parent’s room (they had arrived the day before) waiting for our room to be ready. yea, it wasn’t ready by 2 as promised. We had to scramble to get ready in my parent’s room. The lady at the desk said she would call us when our room was made up. that didn’t happen. I don’t remember her name but she had a funny hairline.
Everything about this place is run down, and old. From the stained floral carpet, to the crumby doors and lighting.
The elevator near our room definitely reeked of puke. Like bad.
Our room was 90 degrees when we finally got into it after the wedding.
The AC serving our room made a really loud, long knocking sound when cycling off. This sound startled my sleeping 1 year old in the middle of the night, and caused him to cry. He was pretty freaked out and while we were calming him down, the front desk called and rudely told us other tenants complained about the crying, and said to take the crying child out of our room and to the pool area! My wife said that we would leave the room if they were willing to refund us what we paid. The guy said absolutely no refunds, and threatened to keep calling our room until the baby had stopped crying! What a jerk.
My experience here was just awful. I will never be back, and cannot recommend that anyone stay here. The staff was unfriendly. I heard other people talking about this in the lobby too.

Reasonable prices and pretty decent food
People are nice
Chill, laid back vibe — don’t care if you bring you’re own food and beverages, even by the pool
Good for kids and families
Lots of large pools/​jacuzzis open 24 hours
Large open space around pools
Free parking
Clean and pretty comfortable bedding

Not so good:
Very old and run down — actually dumpy by my standards and I’m not super picky
Pool chairs not only old but somewhat broken
Screen door to our balcony broken
Smoke detector for room just sitting in desk
Room furnishings and carpet really old
Lots of kids/​families if that’s not your thing

Just came back here with my family for a two-​night stay. I came here two years ago and really loved the pools. The mineral water pools are amazing! Couldn’t ask for a better one. Friendly staff and delicious restaurant! Gonna come back some other time.

The front desk girl was… Uneducated? Could not comprehend how to split my order in half… Even after I explained the simple math to her multiple times.
The person who gave me a pedicure was good, but for the prices and for this being a resort spa… The tiny room we were cramped into with NO Walking room and two more spa chairs… Was neither relaxing nor appealing.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The ONLY thing deserving of the 1 star was that the food in their restaurant was fairly good.
But, everything else:
Check in was posted as 4pm, and our room wasn’t ready until well after 5pm. This is ridiculous… Who wants to check in after 5:30?! The men at the front desk are super unprofessional and just lax.
The rooms… Beds were uncomfortable, bathrooms were okay. When we purchased through groupon is listed cable tv. Nope. When we got there the tv didn’t have any cable tv. It has channels from time warner that said «activate your digital package to get this channel back». So, we went down to a pawn shop and bought DVDs because the rooms had them, and low and behold, it didn’t work.
Each morning, someone was walking around the roof of the hotel, from around 6:30am– 9? Pounding feet, back and forth. When we contacted the front desk, they said they’d look into it, and they never called back.
People were smoking on patios below our room and it filled our room several times. Weed and cigarettes.
One night we went to the pool and came back to our room at around 10pm, to find our key didn’t work. Luckily, there was an employee delivering something to the room next to ours. So we informed him and he called the front desk. We could hear the «manager» saying we would have to walk to the front to get new keys. When we hesitated this kid told the «manager» and he responded by saying, «I’m alone, I can’t». Hum, how about telling this kid to run down and get them??? Instead we had to walk to the front, dripping wet, in bathing suits for new keys.
I told this asshole up front that they’re completing non accommodating and he says «is this your first time here?» I say, «yes» and he says, «I’m sorry». Like zero f**ks. He’s the one that wears the lame bike chain bracelet.
The pools are open ²⁴⁄₇ and there’s no real security present.
The front desk is absolutely NOT accommodating, whatsoever. They just don’t care.
And the neighborhood… It’s bad. Tons of shady looking people camped out up and down the street. It’s bad. Horrible. I would not suggest this to ANYONE. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay at ANY of the hotels in Desert Hot Springs. go to Mission Hills or Rancho Mirage.

It is hard to give this place a star rating because what you have to understand is that this place is like a Greyhound Bus station of hot water spas. It provides access to everyone to enjoy desert hot springs in their lovely pools. However, like a bus station, you have to put up with a lot of people you may not want to share your spa experience with (young children in diapers, young teens in the spas). It is only $ 14 for a day pass, and the rooms are so affordable-​this is what you get. Although the last time I was there a staff member came up to the hot spa we were in and just dumped in some chemicals from a bottle. I shrugged it off, hoping it would not cause a skin condition.
I go once a week on Fridays, and for the most part I really love it. I appreciate having such a wonderful spa experience once a week! I am writing this in the hope that management might take my observations as useful to improving guests overall experience. This resort will not suffer from some of my honest criticism, it is THE to go place for most of us who live within a one hour drive.
Sometimes however I do feel like things get a little too loosey goosey for the spa experience to work. I get frustrated and I promise myself, «I am not coming back, that was just too rough an experience.» But still, I go back! I am going back today actually. It is my day off from work and it is my ‘go to’ place.
The last time I was there I decided to buy appetizers and drinks for my friend. The margaritas I ordered came and they tasted like fake sugary lime juice and chemicals. My friend scolded me and said, ‘what did you think you would get? ‘
Later in the dressing room there were no towels, the dressing room looked like it had been ransacked, there was a sink full of cucumber slices! Someone had received a salt rub with herbs and the shower floor was covered in some pine needles or something. Apparently it was just past 5 o’clock so the staff heard the whistle blow and we were on our own!
Let me wrap this up by saying this– the owners of this resort would benefit by hiring people from much more upscale places to manage this place. I think higher standards being taught to employees would go a long way here.
The staff need training by people who have higher hospitality standards and that does not mean being written up, it means they need to be educated. They are very well meaning, and they are very sweet people who have the patience of saints. I commend them for being so sweet when you can tell they work with a lot of managerial disorganization. I don’t think the managers here have a deep knowledge of spa resort standards. While it is great to provide an affordable spa experience to virtually everyone, they could do it so much better.
And I wish they would.
Lastly, management if you are reading this, would you be kind enough to offer a margarita made with fresh lime juice and without that sour mix either! Just use some agave syrup or simple syrup for sweetener. It would really be appreciated!
Anyway, I have to go, I have a massage scheduled for today! I love this place and the people who work here. My criticism is meant to help the management improve the overall experience.

Had a encounter with a very rude bar tender, never had someone treat me so disrespectfully. His drinks were horrible and when we called him out on it he laughed at us. I’m sure the location makes it difficult to find decent help. I do however see others working very hard to keep the place functioning so don’t go souly on this one experience. They really need to get rid of the idiot behind the bar tonight…

My review is for the spa services.
Nicolaus gave me the Lomi Lomi massage. It was AWESOME! He is very professional and I had a great massage. I live in San Diego and the next time I visit PS I will be booking a massage with him.
Elena gave me and my friends a facial and it was amazing. She is so nice and so professional. We were all really pleased. She pampered the heck out of us.
Mineral pools were fine. There are kids playing and running around which kinda detracts from the «getaway» feeling, oh well.

So my family got to the checkin and told them our name and gave them the ID needed because we already paid online. However, I was very disappointed at the women at the front desk because they made us wait about an HOUR because they were gossiping about another customer. It felt kind of ridiculous to wait that long! Going in, the interior was pretty fancy and our hotel was cleaner than we expected. There was decent wifi; not too fast and not as slow. Our 2 day 1 night deluxe room with 2 beds mountain view was about $ 150, which is not too bad!
The hot tub waters were significantly hotter at night even though it was pretty cold in the morning too. There were a lot of hot tubs– enough for everyone at the resort! The main swimming pool wasn’t that much of a hot tub but the children really enjoyed that one because it was the biggest and they were able to swim around and play.
I would recommend this place if you have children to come with! And make sure to go to Joshua Tree National Park because it’s only 30 minutes away and a perfect hiking spot with the family. Overall, a very average resort and hot springs but you get what you paid for!

This place is nice for a daytime getaway. We went on a Sunday for just that. The check-​in was a little wonky, as we paid our $ 14 but they ran out of wristbands so we were told to come back after hitting the locker room and they would have one for us. When we came back, they still hadn’t grabbed a wristband but it was a moment of busy at their check-​in, so totally understood. By the way, the locker room is tiny. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but more than 6 lockers and two showers. It was decent enough, but less than what I was accustomed to from other spas. They also check out their towels and make you sign them out. When you want more, you need to bring your towels back to get fresh ones. I would bring a towel so you can mark your spot on one of the loungers by the pools.
The bar/​lounge/​café was ok. It seemed like they were way overdue on a makeover for this place. It was once nice, but time has faded away that sparkle. We had a few drinks, didn’t try any food. The drinks were decent, but seemed like the bartender over complicated the process of mixing. He was nice though and was trying his best to serve the small crowd at the bar at lunch time.
We spoke with a few spa-​goers that day and they all seemed to enjoy this place and have been several times. The water doesn’t have that sulfur smell you’d expect from mineral water, but I did see some pool service tech that came around and dropped some tiny drops of a chemical into the water at some point during the day. This place isn’t too far from where I live in RM, so on that note it is pretty convenient to get to right off of Palm Drive in DHS. I think we will make another visit before it gets scorching hot again.

We enjoy this little hideaway often, as an escape from the snow where we live in Big Bear Lake, or just soothing hot spring pools anytime. This is the best natural hot spring water anywhere – leaves skin feeling great. We get massage treatments and eat at Capri right onsite, so we don’t even look around the rest of the area much. We just relax and regenerate.

Ok let’s be realistic if I wanted a 5 star resort I would have went to the Ritz.
What I wanted was a relaxing day in Desert hot springs, with my wife and 8 natural hot spring pools.
Thanks exactly what I got.
Pools ranging from 80 degrees to 104.
The main pool was the coolest the 4 man jacuzzis were the hottest, there were four medium sized pools between 95 and 100 degrees
2 large 1 foot deep laying pools, these were my favorite so relaxing around 90 degrees. The day fee was a cheap $ 14 pp. included towels and access to the locker rooms, showers, cucumber water and lockers.
It was a really nice day .
We would definitely return.

If not for the mineral hot springs pools I would not consider staying at this hotel, old and filthy.
I booked suite 157 for 230 $ a night, the sofa bad had broken springs and when I asked for a mattress or a rollaway bed I was given a bunch of dusty rags to comfort my back…

NOPE !!! Never again. I was sadly disappointed with the cleanliness of the room i was given. I saw streaks of MOLD my shower curtain! MOLD !!! So i can only assume it had been ages since the showers were thoroughly cleaned. Also my comforter/​sheet was stained and looked «previously slept on» which is unacceptable. I brought these issues up to the staff on hand at the time who shrugged his shoulders and mumbled «sorry». No effort was made to change my room or give me an upgrade for the inconvenience.
The only reason why i rate this place 2 stars is because the co-​owner/​manager refunded my stay without hesitation after talking with my LIVING SOCIAL representative.

Truly wonderful place with a beautiful lobby — Plush comfortable seats, nice Christmas tree and lights, huge windows that overlook the amazing landscaping, pools and hot tubs.
We were able to see one of the rooms with 2 beds in them, because our friend was staying over with their family. The room was really nice, spacious while still being spacious. Along with the big bathroom and large beds, there was another part of the room with a large couch, dresser and even a balcony. A really enjoyable place to hang out in.
After spending time in the room and having a delicious early dinner at the nearby Sunshine Café, we headed to the pool and jacuzzis, which are all natural hot and cold springs. I started in one of the hot tubs which was quite warm and incredibly relaxing. It felt amazing to just soak in the hot tub and let the water and jets flow over me. After a bit I went to the biggest pool, where the temperature was cooler, but wasn’t cold by any means… It felt more lukewarm and big enough to swim back and forth, which I enjoyed. Later, we spent time in a smaller jacuzzi which was still pretty warm, but not as hot as the first one. Also, the jets were stronger in that one so it was great to feel that on my back, feet and was sort of like a massage.
It was a lot of fun to try out the different hot tubs and pick your favorite. Also, everything is open 24 hours so you could spend the whole night in the pool/​hot tubs, if desired. These hot tubs are the perfect place to unwind and take away any stress you might be feeling!

We stayed here for a couple of nights this passed weekend. There are 8 natural mineral hot springs. There is one large pool with not so hot water and there are two kiddie pools. The best part is the pools/​hot springs are open 24hours.
The room were spacious with a patio. We got a quiet room overlooking the parking which I requested because I didn’t want to be near the pools due to the noise level.
We had room service and the first time the order came in quick and the second time they forgot the coffee and the check.
It is 45 mins drive to Joshua tree National Park and few blocks from the trendy Palm Springs. Anyways we enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Truly an average experience. Let me tell you why:
Service: cannot complain one bit. Everyone was beyond pleasant. The gentleman at the front desk with the Greek last name – wonderful. The ladies who came to service our room: really sweet. Thanks for your hard work in making everything run smoothly. If I had questions, they got answers. It’s not your fault this was just sort of meh for me and mine.
The room.
Pros: super comfy beds. Like really comfortable. The room was spacious and clean; I liked the little couch area. Plus for the mini-​fridge and microwave in every room. From what I could tell, everything inside the room was recently cleaned. The price wasn’t awful; two rooms, two nights ran me $ 650. It was a good deal.
Cons: requested a «mountain view» and literally got a view of a fence bordering the back of the hotel. It was total crap. The balcony was dusty and the door was so hard to get closed, I struggled with it for five minutes and then never bothered going outside again. What was the point of that?
The hallway smells like wet dog. It took me a day to place the scent, but it definitely has that lingering odor. I don’t know if it’s because people are coming back from the pools with wet shoes and clothes dripping all over the carpets, but it’s seriously off-​putting. Febreze those halls!
No security. Yeah, you have to type a totally obvious pass code to enter the building, but the door takes about 500 years to close shut. I only had to put the code in once because the door was open every time I came back to the hotel. This literally means anyone and everyone can enter the facility. Also, make sure you are firmly closing your room door shut. They do not close shut on their own. I didn’t feel safe enough to sleep without all of the locks on the door.
Bring your own towels; the hotel provides many towels, but they’re all rough – even the face towels.
Everything is outdated, but usable. The room is DARK. I had a problem with that even after turning on EVERY LIGHT. Perhaps some lighter décor is in order here, because it felt like I was looking through sunglasses the entire time. The layout is kind of odd – I don’t get why you would put a light behind the TV or the sitting area after the sleeping area. I also dislike how there seem to be so few outlets in the room – I had to unplug a lamp to get a working one in the sitting area and it was so loose that my phone charger kept falling out of it.
The wi-​fi never worked. I called the front desk to ask if there was a different wi-​fi connection besides the free one (since it seemed like either everyone and their mother was on it or it wasn’t working) and they told me it’s just the one. Despite being switched onto their wi-​fi from my phone, laptop, and kindle, I ALWAYS USED MY DATA. It never came on in the three days I was there. If you’re looking to get work done, this is not the place. I don’t really watch TV, so I can’t speak to the quality of the channels or signal; if it’s anything like the wi-​fi, bring your own DVDs – especially if you have kids.
A problem I had with the facilities was that there is no on-​site gym. That’s a waste. There is literally nothing to do here on a hot day because the pools are too hot to get into when it’s 105 outside. The pools themselves were nice WHEN we could get into them; it was so overcrowded and, with no guard on duty, people did whatever they felt like, which made for a less than pleasant experience for my mother and grandparents, who aren’t much used to public displays of gross sexual drunken debauchery. We waited until after midnight to use the pools because then we stood a chance of not getting splashed by kids, mooned by drunks, or getting a free show from the horny residents. Seriously. There is a nudist spa like a mile away. Go there. This seems like a family-​friendly place and I didn’t get that vibe at all.
The on-​site restaurant was awful. Review to follow, but let me tell you: avoid it. There are better options in town or in Palm Springs, but this place wasn’t worth my money or time.
Book your spa time in advance; I called beforehand and they told me they couldn’t accommodate me for the services I wanted, which were a scrub and massage for each of the three ladies in my family. I guess they were busy? I didn’t see a single person enter those facilities the entire time I was there. Whatever. That wasn’t a deal-​breaker, but, having read previous reviews on their spa, maybe I lucked out.
If you’re coming for a place to sleep while visiting Desert Hot Springs and surrounding areas, this is a decent option. It’s not a first choice for me, but it’s affordable and, if it’s not busy, it’s a decent place to kill an hour or two in the pools. But the location, the amenities, and the lack of just basic things to do, is a buzzkill. No dice.

The many hot tubs ranged in different temps and levels of way. They were relaxing and rejuvenating. The view was flawless! Absolutely perfect setting.
Staff and other customers were all very nice and friendly.
We will definitely return!
