I love this place. My daughter and I go every day after school. And we love to play with the puppies that are round.

Very fun service and really great tasting ice cream and more importantly — Milkshakes! Yes to the Deer Trax milkshake. Try a milkshake or the ice cream and enjoy the fun list of questions from the servers. They are friendly and make you feel settled. And well, the ice cream will do the rest. It was perfect since yesterday was sooo hot.

Ah straight up a pretty good ice cream shop. The décor is nice a little too much on the feminine side for me but the location is great being in the Eastern Market section of Detroit. They serve Detroit Coffee, have a children section, a vintage bike in the window. Best of all the Ice cream was great. Definitely worth a shot or visit. A much better alternative to those huge chain ice cream shops.

Awesome staff and great flavors. A regular customer to say the least I like to to call this place my home away from home!

My sundae was piled high with delicious goodies like snickers, peanut butter, fudge, and brownies. The service was great and the atmosphere fun and inviting. Lots to choose from flavor-wise and the location is in the charming Eastern Market. Would recommend!

Stopped by Eastern Market after the boat races. Wife had Mean & Lean Green smoothie made with Kale and other healthy ingredients. I had the Detroit Float(Vanilla & Vernors). Son had a single scoop of superman on wafer was lined out the door. First thing I notice during our long wait wait was that their people production system was flawed. Just think if you went into McDonalds and order food for 4 people and the order taker tried to cook everything him or herself. My float was more shake than float… couldn’t descern the Vernors aspect of it but the Hudsonville ice cream tasted alright with a hint of butteriness(sic) to it. I asked for a large and got a smal and then they had to redo mine. My son’s scoop was more like a scoop and a half… but for $ 3 it was OK. There was a guy at the back of the shop selling Mac and Cheese in his own little operation it appeared. Also they have a tablet app if you use your charge card that as for tips you can select — -none, 15%, 20%, or 25%. I want to put less than 15% but didn’t seem to be able to so I ended up selecting the 15%

Mootown ice cream shoppe is a good place to wind down a long hot day of farmers’ market shopping at Eastern Market. Usually there’s a long line at the counter weekends, but during the week it’s less busy. Today I came here to console myself of a recent bad pizza experience. Ice cream solves all problems. Mootown serves awesome local-named desserts. I got the Highland Park float: vanilla ice cream, lemon sorbet, sprite soda. Yum! I feel better. Next time will be a classic, the Boston Edison float: vanilla ice cream and Vernors.

This was a great ice cream place. They had plenty of staff and even though they were very busy, we were helped very quickly. I had a milkshake that was very good so I even got a second. They were all very nice with greetings and farewells. If I return to Detroit I will surely remember this place.

One Saturday during the farmers market, I was super craving some coffee. This ice cream shop was farther from the crowds, so it was appealing. The single woman behind the counter seemed a little overwhelmed by the influx of people who came in looking for coffee, and they had run out of lids. However, she handled the situation well. Coffee was a little watery, but it did the trick. I loved all the trinkets and Detroit-specific paraphernalia for sale. There are lots of household and kitchen stuff for sale that would make good gifts.

Right next to Supino, this place does it right. Their ice cream is so good, man… my mouth is salivating at the mere thought of eating another scoop of cookies ‘n crème. And when I say one scoop, you probably think that is small. Wrong. One scoop here is like two scoops at most other ice cream places, and it fills you up. Another great aspect is that the waffle and sugar cones are both delicious. After grabbing some pizza next door, get this ice cream for dessert. They have different kinds of ice cream, an array of toppings and even espresso shakes that are apparently big sellers. It’s that time of year to walk around in the sun and inhale an ice cream cone, and this place fits the bill.

Friendly staff in a cute little shop right next to Supino’s. The variety of ice cream isn’t huge, but they keep the classics in stock, plus they offer sundaes and some interesting smoothie flavors. They also sell coffee and tea drinks and have a little gift shop section. It’s a nice addition to the Eastern Market area.

Good size scoops of ice cream. A good variety of flavors and cone options as well. They also offer Detroit coffee which I wish put off more of a scent when we walked in. A little pricy but tasty.

My first job was at Sanders so I am a bit of an ice cream parlor snob. I love the old wood floor and enough flavor choices to be fun but not overwhelming. The portion size was more than enough to fill me up and loved having pumpkin pie ice cream this time of year. Can’t wait to go back. I would find it pricey if I brought a family but I only need to feed my hubby or co-worker and ME!

Delicious ice cream, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere. Lately I like to go during my lunch hour on Tuesdays to treat myself for a 10 minute chair massage and a sundae afterwards. It’s a cute place I love having in my area.

We’ve been regulars here since our move to Detroit 18 months ago. The staff have always been warm, welcoming and accommodating towards our family. The ice cream is superb(and refreshing to find that it’s free of the majority of chemical slime that plagues store brand ice creams). During the winter they have a selection of hearty and interesting stews/soups which were always welcome after an hour in the market in the snow! Also worth a look is the coffee they sell from AJ’s Coffee Works is worth a look. The Mackinac island fudge ice cream is superb as is the seaside caramel… they have always been very good at providing samples so make sure you try a couple before making a decision! The wifi is an added bonus :)

Look — it is hot, and you have been wandering around Eastern Market for a while. Take a load off and get some ice cream. You know you want to. The ice cream is solid, but the prices are a bit on the high side. You pay for convenience, I suppose. And also for all the knick knacks all around for sale.

Came here after eating Supino’s to higher my chances of a heart attack. I got a small waffle cone of Mackinac Island Fudge, I absolutely LOVE fudge from Mackinac — that ice-cream never fails in my eyes. My husband got the apple pie a la mode, it was warm and homey. Nothing too different or specttacluar about it. It tasted like apple pie should. Definitely visit this place. They sale small knick-knacks, including tin bottles of Coca-Cola, which I haven’t seen anywhere else except New York. The people that own the place give it such an old fashion, homey vibe.

After lunch in the Eastern Market, I wanted to try this ice cream place. They also have some lunch items. It has a nice, fun feel about it. They also have cookies, cupcakes, and pies. I chose the sleeping bear dunes bear hug, which was chocolate ice cream, with chocolate covered cashews and a carmel swirl. The ice cream they use is called Hudsonville, which is made in Michigan. Because I wasn’t really hungry, I got the kiddie size in a waffle cone. It was plenty big! Next time I’m in Detroit, I wouldn’t mind going again. I’d like to try the lunch or even the red velvet cup cakes.

I got a Grand Traverse Bay Cherry Fudge, set in a classic sugar cone, one scoop please! Whoa, that’s one scoop!!! Huge scoops here. A nice Mom-n-Pop establishment in the Eastern Market setting. They feature Hudsonville Ice Cream as their in-house offerings. I’ll return.

Cute, homey ice cream shoppe(carrying Hudsonville Ice Cream) in the Eastern Market. It’s been there forever and I’m glad I finally went in a few weeks ago. I got the single scoop, but half orange pineapple and half vanilla. Simple, no frills. In looking around, though, I saw they had a lot of fun desserts, knick-knacks for sale, etc. Someone in the store really wanted superman ice cream, but it wasn’t on display… I guess they inquired on it and someone looked for it once, but didn’t find it. They looked again and sure enough, found a tub fo it tucked away in the bottom of a freezer. The customer was really happy and I was tempted to buy another scoop, myself!

Cute place, though I’m confused by the random card/jewelry/knick-knack store in the back half of Mootown. They’re super nice about letting you sample the flavors, so make sure you try a few as not everything might taste as good as it sounds! The chocolate cashew + starwberry = a GREAT combo on waffle cone. Also beware that it’s a GIANTGIANT serving size. They like to make the raspberry/lemon sorbet drink and give out tons of samples — it’s really too sweet, which isn’t obvious when you have a small sample, but a little unbearable when you have a giant drink My friends got a banana sundae and it’s insane(both in size and scope).
