Super 8 Dixon Uc Davis

Place was just okay booked thru Expedia got a good deal so I thought stayed 2 nights a week later my credit card got charged $ 80 dollars. When I called to ask why owner said her comforter was missing. I guess that’s what happens for getting the room so cheap thru Expedia. Won’t be staying there ever again and won’t recommend to anyone.

I stayed here several times when in need of a place to crash and sleep well overnight. It’s not a very fancy place, but a typical Super 8 and the breakfast is typical Super 8 as well. So far, I got reasonably nice clean rooms at very reasonable rates, but you should plan ahead and book your room early.
I never had a problem here and the staff (Kim and husband?) have always been very helpful with advice on places to eat, etc. Checking in and out has been quick. In my experience, it’s a good place for an inexpensive overnight stop when on the road traveling or for a visit to UCD. I just made reservations for staying later this month…

I’m in a touring band and I have stayed in a lot of crappy hotels, but this one inspired me to create a Unilocal account and give a one-​star review. One of the worst hotel experiences of my life. The owners are cheap and rude and everything suffers because of it, and it is an unsanitary place. I was treated like an idiot because I’m in my twenties and have long hair. The woman at the front desk called me at 8:30 in the morning, yelled at me and told me I was «selfish» for keeping the luggage cart in my room– yes there’s only one in the whole hotel and it’s falling apart and covered in nasty stains probably from grown men.
Look. There are the typical things I could go on about (the rooms are filthy, there are holes in the sheets and curtains, the cleaning service made our beds but didn’t change the sheets once during our three-​day stay, the pool has no chlorine or heat, pretty sure I swam in some kid’s pee, «late» checkout is at 11:30, the room temperature is impossible to regulate, etc.) but really it’s the way the other two members of my band and I had been treated that made this stay regrettable. This staff decided they didn’t like us from the moment we checked in and I am leaving feeling disheartened, disgruntled, and embarrassed. Weird emotions to get from a hotel stay.
One last thing. Last week we stayed in the same hotel as The Beatles did when they played Seattle in 1964. The Edgewater was basically a resort and it’s not even as expensive as this place. Super 8 in dumb ol’ Dixen makes me want to quit music. Avoid it.

Let me preface its four stars for this type of facility. The hotel was incredibly clean, and the rooms were large. The bed was sleep able, no fancy pillow top mattress. The hotel is locked down at night, and I felt very secure. The room was quiet even though next to the freeway. I would recommend this hotel for an inexpensive, clean, no frills option if your in the area.

No exhaust fan in bathroom.
Noisy, crack motel feeling.
Horrific «breakfast» — undrinkable coffee with rude signs everywhere warning you not to date take any of their crap «food» to your room.

As I was leaving I noticed (among the spattering of rude signs) the most ridiculous sign ever:
$ 300 penalty for pets plus eviction without refund.
Why is it that all the crappy just hotels have the most strict dog policies?
Avoid this place if you can go a few miles down the road to the days inn on Chiles Road. It is spectacular and in the same price range. I’ve stayed there many times but they were sold out this one night and next time I will be more organized.
I know super 8 isn’t the ritz but this place doesn’t deserve the brand of super 8, or any respected chain for that matter.
Try the motel 6, at least it’s clean.
If you can swing it, Hyatt place in UC Davis is far superior /​but young and incompetent staff often.

Let me start off by saying, if the price wasn’t right, my family and I definitely wouldn’t have stayed here. After my family and I got in the room, we looked at the linens in the bathroom (like we always do) and there were massive yellow stains on most of the bathing towels and someone’s hair! We called the front desk immediately and do you think anyone picked up? No, we got a voicemail instead. So we basically had to make due. When it was time to get in the bed, I spent at least 5 extra minutes removing the hair from my bed. To sum it all up, if you do decide to stay here, bring your own towels, linens, and cleaning supplies.

Unfortunately there were few options. Here on business and waiting for the confirmation to come through and we were forced to sit outside and wait in the cold. This is a business of hospitality and I found this establishment to be quite inhospitable. I’m sitting outside in a vehicle at 2:27am as I right this when I could be sitting in the lobby out of the cold. Plus who wants to keep sitting in the car after being in it traveling all day. Avoid this place on principle if you can help it!

I am a return customer yearly to this area for the past five years. This was a great deal place to stay for a night on road trip.
But things have changed a lot and may be the reason of ownership change.
From the last few time I have stated here. The pool was clear enough and maintained in useable standard, the room was clean enough for the price and Internet was good enough to read email without attachment. The plumbing was keep up without leak.
Now, the reception/​owner had no formal training as reception or hotel customer services. The pool was dirty and hasn’t been clean for last … Who know how long ago. The water in the pool look light gray, not clear. The door to the room can’t open fully.
Some light fixture doesn’t work, the shower wall has dry rot issue from the leaky shower head for some time, based on the damage has been developed some time ago but the management ignore to repair.
This is my last time to stay in this place for sure.

ucd visit stay and options few… façade is well-​kept and clean… check-​in staff are extremely polite… explanation of elevator location, wi-​fi passcode and complimentary breakfast… the room was quite aged… old tv, but all channels working… bathroom clean and hot water pouring… bed, furniture and fixtures very old… acceptable for cheap $ 80 a night… blasting a/​c and turning off right before sleep to avoid noise… minimal breakfast with waffle iron and batter… coffee and oj canisters refilled frequently… basic cereal and costco pastry… yoplait yogurts… basic fruit… basic hotel stay to pass the night…

Hotel was older, older blankets, old beds, were under some construction with wires hanging from hallway ceilings, room air was poor, breakfast was waffles, cereal not much but if you need a bed just to sleep it might work for you
Pluses were: front desk lady super sweet and accommodating, a Friend with us left her wallet and the front desk had for us with everyone in it… Very honest and kind

I’m not at all surprised to see a total rating of 2.5 stars for this place. I didn’t even get passed check-​in, and I had already walked out due to dog discrimination aka lies about having a room for dogs, that I was on the phone filing a complaint. I specifically booked this place because it is pet-​friendly. I READ, let me re-​state-​I READ the pet policy and charges, and booked the day before. Well, when I went to check in, all was going well, until the Indian behind the desk, Harry, heard my little Boston Terrier’s tag jingle, and then immediately changed his tune into saying they don’t have any rooms for for dogs, and I should’ve called in advance. WTH!!! He didn’t even bother to look to see when a dog-​friendly room would become available-​hence why I know he was lying. He made no attempt to further accommodate me, but rather blame me for not following through on a policy that he made up. I believe he’s the manager as well which is why I didn’t receive a call to follow up on my complaint as the managers are supposed to do. Not surprised! So I went to stay at the trusty Motel 6 on Chiles for 2 days and happily gave them my money with NO pet fee. One of my babies sees specialists at the UC Davis VMTH and this was not the time to turn me away as he was in the hospital! Yea… just a little more than angry at the treatment received.

I have just checked in and was given a room right off the lobby, and directly across from the ice machine and the vending machines. I can hear the conversations In the lobby. The ice machine is so loud, it’s like having a generator IN the bedroom and I can tell how many coins a patron is dropping into the vending machines. I asked if there were other rooms, but no, «not in the price range you paid. «the concept that I paid for a room that I could actually sleep in apparently carries no weight. I was told the machine would go on and off, as if that would somehow make it better. While I have no argument with the slightly shoddy state of the place, it being a motel, it cost me more than many people posted here, and I would not come back. i often have good luck with lower star places, but this bucks that trend.

TV reception/​cable was bad. So if you have kids that need TV don’t stay here. Bed was comfy, no bites. No screen on windows but fan worked fine. It was clean. Comp breakfast was good. Fruit, cereal n pastries, coffee was just bad. Wi-​fi worked ok. Vending machine had decent items at cheap prices.
Fridge in room dripped all night. I did not complain bout it.
Carl’s jr and a restaurant next to am/​pm that sold mexican food n Hawaiian shaved ice. I had mexican, kids had fast food.
Staff was nice.
I would stay again. But bring along a laptop/​iPad to watch movies if TV is important

My grandparents live in town and so many family members were staying at the house we needed to find a nearby hotel to stay in. In my mind, super 8 is better than motel 6, right? All the pictures looked the same at the hotels so we picked this one. The receptionist was super nice, lobby was nice. The room was another story. Granted I’ve recently stayed at nice suites in Vegas but I can rough it too! The door handle to the bathroom was hanging off the hinges. The bed was really hard, we have bites all over us so who knows if it was bed bugs. It honestly could be Mosquitos but of course we had to make the joke! The pillows were paper thin. The rugs were stained. The TV was from 1980, only ten channels worked. They said they had breakfast each morning but we saw nothing twice when we looked (and within the timeframe). My key cards didn’t work twice (and I kept it in the sleeve in my purse!). I definitely won’t stay here again. If you need a place in the area stay at quality inn or motel 6.

Err. Good hotel for a quick thing but there was no screen on the window, holes in the blankets and TV buzed. Staff are nice.

Problem Solving:
I’ve attended many work related meetings in which one of the subjects was about problem solving. I was told the best way to solve a problem, is before it becomes a problem. As a customer this is one of the expectations I have from the service industry. If you’re managing a hotel or any business for that matter, it’s best you discover a problem before I do. Otherwise you have a bigger problem, me! Further, if I discover the problem and you tell me you can’t do anything about it, it’s now, a huge problem! The latter was the case at Super 8, in Dixon, CA. To begin with, I had to ask for more TP after one use. This is something no customer wants to, or should have to ask for. Secondly, the remote control for the TV didn’t work. The desk clerk tried one from another room which didn’t work as well and she said there was no working remotes available, in the entire hotel. Third, there was no premium channels available and lastly, I went to use the guest laundry service and the desk clerk had no change available. I’ve stayed in some run-​down places and even got bit in my sleep. Yet every one of these flea-​bags had: an extra TP roll in the bathroom; a working remote; change for the laundry if they had a laundry; and premium channels in most cases. This Super 8 has some excellent furnishings including marble topped tables, mirrors, and vases in the hallways. But none of that matters if you don’t pay attention to the basics and that will earn a low score in customer service every time.

Absolutely the worst customer service that I’ve ever experienced in my life!!! Repeated attempts for even the simplest of items were met with blank stares and «we don’t have any» such as an extra pillow or blanket. When asked to talk to a manager, was told that I could not speak to anyone until the following Tuesday. This was on a Saturday. Totally unacceptable and won’t waste my time at any other Wyndham hotels again. Scumbags.

I’d like to tell you this is a terrible place to stay so the place won’t be full when I return, but that would be a self-​serving lie. Instead, I’ll tell you this: Super 8 Dixon/​UC Davis is NOT a five-​star hotel. It’s not new and shiny. But in our two visits over the past year, we’ve found the beds to be clean and comfortable, the counter service lovely, and the breakfast sufficient for our family of four. (Hot waffles in the self-​serve Belgian waffle iron, cold cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, bagels and toast, fruit and more.)
While this structure may have had a facelift at some point, the wear and tear really shows in the bathrooms in which some fittings were updated, but there was no craftsmanship in the installation. Gaps show between shower structure and floor, for instance.
During our first visit, we changed rooms after walking into a tobacco bomb from previous guests. During this visit, reservations placed months in advanced were nowhere to be seen, but the GM demonstrated professionalism, empathy and a timely service in quickly taking care of the issue and finding the right room for us.
Customer service saves the day. Oh, and for families: the pool.

If it were cheap I’d go 2 stars. I paid $ 100 a night to get their last room. Now I know why it was last. No one should be in here. Carpet is sticky. Bathroom Sink spigot clogged. Shoots out four pin-​sized jet streams that will knock your toothbrush out of your hand. Shower handle is loose. Must use both hands to turn it. Shower drains slow. Toilet paper holder has no center bar. Falls on floor. One pillow smelled like urine. Tossed it on floor over sticky spot. Wifi cuts out every 2 minutes. Couldn’t post this review from my room. Lock on back door to parking lot next to my truck full of luggage didn’t work. I had to lug luggage all the way around the hotel. Breakfast was bread waffles cereal yogurt with artificial sweeteners and colors. and mealy apples. Might be the overall worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

Two stars for a very nice clean and quiet room and roomy bathroom. It was at least cheap too.
The only thing I didn’t like is the Asian Lady owner which made me not be a total fan of this place.
I got this $ 45 per night deal through Priceline. It was a good deal for a very nice room. However, when I called to confirm my reservation, this Asian Lady owner started bitching at me over the phone about how my room was reserved so cheap that they were not sure if I can check-​in at the right hour. That if I do check in I have to pay extra fees. She kept on pinpointing at me that every Priceline deals vary with the hotel.
Seriously?!?
Why do business with Priceline and agree with the price when she didn’t want to??? If she’s just wanting traffic to her hotel, then it is WRONG. TOTALLY WRONG to accept payments with no refunds and slap customers with fees.
So, I’m telling everyone to BEWARE of this hotel. This is not the type of hotel you would want to check-​in or out early with. They’d slap you with fees per hour.
I guess we just got lucky that the Asian Lady was not there when we arrived. Her son was a better hotel manager. He let us in. No questions asked. No extra fees.
So, look for her son instead.
